For entertainment that's not entirely mindless, check out www.urbandictionary.com.  It's an online version of what my friend Mark Lewellen and I once said we should do: a slang dictionary.  It's all user-written articles so it's similar to Wikipedia in that respect.

Some of the entries are actual attempts at explaining and defining the new and unusual ways people are using language, others are probably just someone trying to get others to use words in foolish ways, and still others are little more than petty insults aimed at someone else.  The common thread is that they're almost all entertaining.  Be warned: it's not for children, the faint of heart or those nursing, pregnant, or trying to get pregnant.  The language can be pretty hard core and some of the definitions are downright disturbing.

My own humble submissions are under the name "poormanschef" if you want to see my contributions.

Thanks for the suggestion...I'll check it out. Hmmm....very fun, indeed...

Um...I'm looking at it as I type the rest of this comment...well not AS I type but...you know what I mean...I hope.

I have a question...How does one get to your contributions apart from the contributions of the others???

 I confess...I ain't none too computer savvy...but I'm tryin'!

The simplest way to find my entries is just to search for the word "bullshometer."  It was my first of the currently two entries on that site.  If you then click the name of the author (in this case poormanschef of Del City, OK) then you're taken to a page that lists all entries by the same author, submitter, con artist etc.

I'm especially proud of my entry for the word "mack" and the usage example I gave.  Tory may be able to explain the joke to you if you don't get it at first.
