Durant: Hey, you know what? We made a movie! That's right, "Illegal Smile", directed by our own Fat Guy Faulk and starring the who's who of Humboldt County actors. Faulk said Tuesday that if he had to show the movie today, he would without hesitation. I guess that means it's done. So after four months of pre-production, two months of shooting and a year of post-production, this behemoth project is ready, or at least as ready as it'll ever be, to throw it to the public. Here's the honor role:
Karen Gordon, for her den mother-like ability to keep this project together.
James Faulk, for never stopping, even if it meant being at College Cove at 8 a.m. on a Sunday to have me attempt to swim around in a fish costume.
Ross Frasier, for taking a bunch of raw footage that was nerve wracking to watch and turn it into a movie.
And the rest of the cast and crew who signed on to this endeavor.
Thanks for making this happen everyone.

OK, two movies, briefly:
Fubar: Headbangers Terry and Dean explore the depths of friendship, and the art and science of drinking beer like a man.
Durant: Another mockumentary from Canada, I think that's the only kind of movie that country knows how to make.
Anyway, a very funny movie in the vein of "Trailer Park Boys" (see last week's Fat Guys).
Rating: XL
Wassup Rockers: Instead of adhering to the norms of their South Central neighborhood, a group of skater boys opt to bus into Hollywood and Beverly Hills.
Durant: From the maker of the controversial ..Kids.. in the '90s, this one's not as disturbing. There are a couple of parts you don't see coming but for the most part it's light-hearted. I think the main group of kids are actually kids director Larry Clark found skating and hung out with. There'll be no Best Actor awards given out for this one.
