Guidelines for event organisers at Seomra Spraoi
Please keep the space clean, tidy, and free of junk. The nature of the centre necessitates that all of its users clean up after themselves or, in the case of an event, the organisers make sure the clean up is done. This includes washing the dishes and cleaning the kitchen area. Items for recycling and rubbish should be collected into the relevant bags and put aside for collection. It's a good idea to organise a few people to come in the next day to do a proper clean up after a late event.
Both of the front doors and the back door (which leads to the smoking area) must be kept locked at all times. This is a condition of our renting of the space and is very important.
No mainstream journalists, cops, etc. to be allowed into the space.
Please give us your continued support. Seomra Spraoi is non-profit and no one gets a wage for working here. It is run entirely on the contributions of our users and well-wishers. We are very grateful for this generosity as it pays the rent, electricity, gas, maintenance costs, etc. More funds are desperately needed to ensure that we can keep the project running. Please ask for donations at your event.
Money is not the only resource we need and is certainly not the most important so we would also like to encourage all users and organisers of events in Seomra Spraoi to become active participants in the day-to-day running of the centre if they can spare the time. We realise that this is not possible for a lot of people due to various responsibilities and commitments. Meetings are every Thursday at 7:30 p.m. Do come along if you can.
There have been many varied and amazing events put on in the centre since it opened. We would love to remind ourselves and show to others what's been going on. If you have any photos of events you have organised or attended please take the time to give us copies so that we can stick them up on the wall and on our website.
Seomra Spraoi has no specific political agenda. Individual members from party political groups are very welcome to attend meetings and events in the space but we do not allow party political propaganda material of any kind.
Safety:
In the interests of safety we ask that those using the cooker to make sure that the switch at the top of the gas bottle is flipped to the 'off' position when not in use.
Seomra Spraoi is the physical space and not the facilitator of all events in the centre. We have enjoyed many trouble-free events and we hope that this continues to be the case. But problems will occur at some stage especially where alcohol may have been consumed. Therefore we ask that event organisers have a plan to deal with difficult situations and be aware of such problems to ensure that the space is safe and accessible to all users. We suggest having two people present who are sober and willing to deal with potential problems. Please see our safer spaces policy for further details.
