John Mooney the famous slide guitarist from New Orleans just release a new album "Big ol' Fiya". This album is the continuation of John's group efforts like "Gone to Hell", it contains great songs written by John and only two covers including Louise Mc Ghee" from his former mentor Son House.
The band is the same than usual and sound very tight, a nice addition is the presence of Jon cleary on keyboard which brings an extra Nawlins flavor to the overall sound.
Mooney's musical gumbo includes "Big Ol' Fiya" a nice rumba type blues (like Professor Longhair was doing) and more raw delta blues electrified numbers Like the great and humoristic "Do you love me".
All in all an excellent release from the great John Mooney
