Brotherhood,

Here's what's going on with the multiplayer:

Right now, it seems that the main cause of the lag is the bandwidth of those hosting multiplayer games.  We didn't get any lag problems during our testing because we have pretty good bandwidth speeds.  We are working on a patch that will hopefully solve this problem.

We aim to release the patch sometime next month for the 360. For PS3 users, we are waiting for Sony's August patch for our update to work. After that happens, we'll fix your multiplayer, too. But, for both systems, until we get the patch there is a temporary fix, straight from the developer:

Check your bandwidth speeds and follow these guidelines.  This should ensure that you minimize or completely eliminate the lag.
   - below a 1.5 megabit/s upstream, host only up to 3 players
   - 1.5 - 4 megabit/s upstream, host only up to 4 players
   - above 4 megabit/s upstream, host up to 8 players.

Your bandwidth upstream is how fast data can be sent over your internet connection to the other players in your match, so if your speed is too slow for the amount of players you are hosting, your game is going to lag. If you don't know your upstream, here's a quick way to check. Use this link from speedeasy and check your upstream numbers against our guidelines above: http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/links.php

Now some bad news for those of you who've been asking - No, there will not be any patches or updates that will bring Darkness powers into the multiplayer games.  I've already told some of you individually why, but I'll tell the lot of you what's going on.  Simply, it would throw the balancing out of whack and would not be fun.  The Darkness Powers make you reallly, REALLY strong.  Since single player was our focus we didn't work on a way to make the Darkness Powers feasible.  It would have taken A LOT of time to get those powers to work in a mutliplayer game that would not have been cheap and frustrating.  HOWEVER, if we do a sequel that is definitely something that we will do our best to include... especially if The Brotherhood wills it enough.

Finally, you've put up with a lot regarding the multiplayer so I'm opening myself up to your challenge.  Find me on Xbox Live under the gamertag, "Master Kweif".   I don't have time to formalize a match with everyone, but when I have a free moment The Brotherhood of The Darkness, as always, will be the first to know.

Good to hear. Especially since so many of the achievement points are tied to multiplayer. It looked like it was good but I didn't enjoy playing unless I was hosting and that's like Monopoly with Special Ed kids. I'll amuse myself by finishing it on hard mode until then.

I still gave it an excellent review.

Hope there's a sequel.

Dear "Lord Sonatine",
First of all, We are the two biggest fans of this game EVER. Fucking Darkness Junkies for real.
My name is Joel Gibbs and I live in Wichita KS. Here's the thing. Me and my buddy Will Canare, who resides in a smaller town outside of Wichita, are quite frankly... THE best two people you will find on PS3 Darkness Multiplayer... In every mode. (Well Ok, some modes no one even PLAYS... so I cant count those)

We seriously feel like we have probably already kicked some of your asses at Starbreeze. LoL i mean, not to be a dick, but statistically it would seem that way.

We already reached the accomplishment of "The Don" by getting 250 wins in multiplayer. The interesting thing about that is, we play pretty much only deathmatch. We've played TDM literally like twice bro.

This is what we were wondering... do any of you guys actually play on the Playstation Network at all? We would love a chance to show you guys, ANY of you guys what we have learned to do with your game. We manipulate Darkling-to-Human and back again like we were born doing it. Aiming is an afterthought, Drop control is SUPERB.

I mean, did you know you could jump on your head as a darkling? Did YOU guys even know that!? It's a functional ass glitch lol. I'm telling you. It's nothing short of poetic.

And we say all this out of love for the game brother. Will and I find it to be a masterpiece in the world of FPS.
A true step into the next generation of shooters.
Dont even get me started on the real time shadows.

In conclusion, Our name on PS network is METLGEAR. Surely some of your readers will shudder when they read that. They know who the fuck we are = )

Seriously man, can we play you guys? Or will there ever be a tourney? That would be fine = )

Hit me back... We will show you if you let us.

Please fix the glitch that prevents players from getting our hard-earned Legendary Dark achievement.
I went back through the whole game on Hard difficulty to get that achievement, only to be ripped off like that?
Just for that I'm not playing another XBox 360 game until Resident Evil 5 comes out in 2009.
I'm not sayin' it wasn't a good a game but between the multiplayer lag and working my ass off for an achievement that I don't even get in the end, my memories of this game aren't going to be the fondest.

this really needs to be addressed soon, i see some people with all the achievements in this game cause they go out of their way. but i want to play mulitplayer like its supposed to be and competitively play it. and like this game, but its hard when there is no patch and its already mid august. im really thinking of returning this game now cause theres not much to do but play with horrible lag or play the campaign for the 10000th time.
