Well, Turkey Day is upon us, the parades have been marched and balloons have popped, and the festive rain is pouring like the gravy that I hate so very much.
But while everyone is gnawing down on the turkey, stuffing, or chugging that gravy, I must bring up an interesting thought: What are you thankful for?
I certainly know what I'm thankful for, and now I'll present them in my usual "Galileo's Unecessary List" way! Thanksgiving Edition!
-First of all, I'm thankful for my brothers of Delta Psi Omega. I definately knew that pledging them was one of the best things I ever did. Exactly one year ago on last thanksgiving, I was depressed. Not in a "girl, we all outta ice cream!" depressed. I mean, depressed depressed. But when I pledged DPO and over that month-long process and the period from when that started to today, I now know that I have brothers out there that are there for me and outright care for me, and I definately feel that way to the rest of them! I have no idea where the hell I'd be today if it weren't for these guys! I have since never had any of those extreme bouts of depression, and whenever I feel a little bit sad, I always go and hang out with a few of my bros, and I'm instantly cheered up.
Last night was a great example. I had a long day, I was at school from 8-3 (the 2 classes in between the 8am & 1:40pm classes were cancelled, so I was stuck for a good 4 hours doing mostly nothing), and when I finally got home at 4:30...I got called into work. It was only a 3 hour shift, but I wanted rest! But after that, I went to party at Carmel Lounge. I have this to say: We Deltas definately know how to throw a party! Sure, that place was, as DJ put it, "a closet," but it was a packed closet with ear deafening thumping music and tons of drunk girls. There were so many people there we had to turn people away! I went outside at around 11:20 to get some fresh air, and I wasn't able to get back in til an hour later!
About an hour in, I knew I had absolutely no chance of a hookup, as the gals I was heading towards either 1) left before I got the chance or 2) Walters got em. That, and despite the $15 cover charge (which got raised to $20 around midnight), I am freaking glad I went, despite being guilted into it and seeing approx. 15 or so Deltas there (not counting ones that weren't able to get in)
-Next of all, I'm thankful for all the non-Delta friends I've met at college. In less than a freaking year, I went from having only 2 or 3 friends there at the most, it's grown to about to the level that a good 1/4 of the school knows who I am and are always ready to hang with me.
-I'm thankful for that truck full of Coca-cola that jacknifed in front of my house. I have like 10 cases of Coke & Vault cans alone.
-I'm thankful for being alive. On tuesday, I almost got into a car accident! I was heading back to SJC after grabbing some McDs for dinner, and off the exit ramp for Sunrise getting to the school, there was an accident with cop cars taking out the right lane, so cars were cganging lanes to stay on the service road. I was driving along, minding my own business, when all of a sudden, a black pickup truck just gets into my lane, nearly sideswiping me! Thankfully, I managed to react just in time and swerve out of the way. I was swerving for a few feet, and thankfully I didn't hit anyone, and turned into a side street to inspect the damage, which there was none. You don't nod off easily after that, you're fucking awake as hell when something like that happens. If I had reacted one second later, good chance I might have been killed and took out some cars as well!
-What I am not thankful for is ABC's programming. Due to Ugly Betty being a hit, they moved Charlie Brown Thanksgiving to Monday, leaving me nothing to watch tonight while buzzed on tryptophan, like I did the last 2 years!
Also, they're also airing Charlie Brown Christmas...on Monday the 28th!
-Lastly, because my Grandma is here, I'm thankful for Febreze.
And that should get your bloated brains moving. Tomorrow is Black Friday, the busiest shopping day in the U.S. and I have to work at both of my jobs tomorrow! First, KB from 4:30am til 1:30pm! and then I have to work at CVS from 5-10pm! Do not be surprised if I'm not online tomorrow.
And I know we all want to get back to our families, and for those of you that are just reading myspace, going back to looking at porn, I have 2 words to close this blog: Merry Christmas!!
