First of five Official Firefly / Serenity art by Steve Anderson. Kaylee Frye (Jewel Staite) is one of my FAVORITE characters on tv or film. Any fan of SciFi who hasn't seen Firefly should definitely give it a shot. It is by far one of my favorites of all time!

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Kaywinnit Lee "Kaylee" Frye, played by the incredible Jewel Staite, is the ship's mechanic. In the episode "Out of Gas", it is established that she has no formal training, but keeps Serenity running with an intuitive gift for the workings of mechanical equipment. Jewel Staite explains Kaylee's character as being wholesome, sweet, and "completely genuine in that sweetness", adding "She loves being on that ship. She loves all of those people. And she's the only one who loves all of them incredibly genuinely."[6] She has a crush on Dr. Simon Tam. Kaylee's character is the soul of the ship: according to creator Joss Whedon, if Kaylee believes something, it is true.

dude, that is truly beautiful...I like the fact that you made her dirty and yet captured her beauty even covered in grime & grease. Great job.

It's beautiful because she's dirty and that's who she is.

This is absolutely Amazing!
Jewell Staite is playing Dr. Keller on Stargate Atlantis now - you should do a Dr. Keller just as a comparison. :)
You Rock as always!

Wow - egg on my face?
That's what I get for not paying attention. LOL
Thanks though - it's amazing as well,
of the two the Kaylee Frye is my favorite.
You just captured her so beautifully.

Lovely artwork there! It looks like the cover of a (SF) book - one which I'd certainly pick up. :) She looks "all grown up" with that elegance of character clearly defined. Good work! I can tell you like the character and "get" her. :)

Say, have you done any of Eccleston's Dr. Who? I'd love to see one of him done in this empathetic style. :D

This is stellar work! They should get you as one of the cover artists for the next Serenity mini-series for sure. Hmmm.... Now I'm all reminded of our lackage of a big damned sequel. I've got a couple of friends who are getting Firefly for Christmas though. hehe.

Thank you all so much!

Believe me, it's truly my honor to be doing anything related to Serenity or Firefly- I only hope that I can do justice to something that I love so dearly. There will be four more characters coming as soon as we here back from Universal. Then I will post information about where you can buy the prints if you're interested. Although if you're a Browncoat, you can probably guess. Hopefully these will sell well and I'll be able to bring you the entire cast.

Thanks again for all your kind compliments,

Steve

Kaylee: These girls have the most beautiful dresses. And so do I — how about that?
Mal: Yeah, well, just be careful. We cheated Badger out of good money to buy that frippery, and you’re supposed to make me look respectable.
Kaylee: Yes, sir, Captain Tightpants.

Kaylee: You mean to say as in… sex?
Simon: I mean to say.
Kaylee: Well, hell with this. I’m gonna live!

Kaylee: “I carried such a torch and we coulda…. Goin’ on a year now and I ain’t had nuthin’ twixt my nethers that weren’t run on batteries!!”
Mal: “Oh GOD! I can’t know that!”
Jayne: “I could stand to hear a little more.”

Wow. I think this is the BEST Kaylee I've seen. You've captured the essence of her "Serenity."

". . .the only one who loves all of them incredibly genuinely. . ." And THAT is why she has SERENITY. . .

Just lovely.
