Humeur actuelle :Loving.
I was driving down Ventura Blvd. The air was warm, but if I kept the windows open I could stay cool without using AC. Just another way to try to save on gas until I buy the upcoming Venture Vehicle (check flytheroad.com). My stereo was loud, but not blaring. I was singing along to Jason Mraz when a light stopped me for some pedestrians crossing the street. I abruptly stopped singing when I saw that the giant black dude coming from his gym caught me singing in my car alone. He stood in the intersection and said, "Oh, NO. Don't you stop for ANYONE. Let it out!" And he was right. I said, "You're right." Not only did it continue singing, but he joined me, and loud. It is moments like these that restore my faith in humanity. Thank you, intimidatingly huge black dude. Thank you for reminding me that the world is mine to enjoy, everyday. It is an attitude I took with me to Comicon.

Ah, Comicon. Worlds of wonder spinning in sympathetic orbits, crashing and colliding in an astral dance of astrological awesomeness. Is it the large contingent of Stormtroopers, the smattering of Sailor Moons, or the dominating population of Jokers that makes me so happy? It must be the excitement created by the longing anticipation. The weeks and months before that ever lengthening weekend serve to steep and simmer the juices of fans from all corners of fandom. The collective energies that swirl and boil around the knick-knacks and do-dads that fill the giant bags reminding us to collect the weekend in tiny bits that suit our individual likings (I picked up a Spidey Mexican Wrestling Mask). And all you folks who gathered for Dr.Horrible's Family's very first public appearance- you rock. Not even just a very tiny bit. But a lot. You rock more than a southern state porch chair.

I think it can be said that Dr Horrible was a tremendous success. More than just an incredible project to enjoy, but a more than important view of entertainment to come. This is the future, everybody. This is a window into how things will be when the control is finally wrested from the moneyed claws of big business and placed, nay, returned to the caring hands of the creators. Remember: It is not only the artists who suffer infuriating "What if they were cops?" notes, but you, the viewer as well. Would you be happy knowing that the story you are are watching will never be told as intended? Can you sit back and enjoy your popcorn while the marketing department shows you a pivotal moment of a surprise ending in a trailer, allowing you to extrapolate the ending of an anticipated movie before you've even bought your ticket? This Horrible endeavor could not only potentially serve as an entirely new business model, but it could open to everyone an entirely new version of entertainment. A new vision of entertainment. A purified, unfettered, unmolested story. Completely as intended by it's mothers and fathers. There are even rumblings that it could serve as a case study to be examined in the SAG contract negotiations, allowing actors and producers to accurately see the true power of entertainment via the interweb, and preventing a strike, allowing not only actors, but all industries connected to entertainment to continue to recover from the recent WGA strike. Don't you remember what is was like having no new episodes of ANYTHING? So, this having been said, why would someone rip it from the site and post it elsewhere? Before it was $4, it was free, so it's not that you couldn't afford it. It's culty, yet you obviously aren't a fan, stealing from your favorite folks in gratitude. Is it that you need the hits on your site for advertising? Are you doing it for money? Weak. Are you doing it to be e-popular? Is that working for you? I know who you are, brother. I know you are the same guy who selects an antique phone ring on your cell so everyone knows when you get a call. You are the guy who looks at that phone while it rings, disturbing everyone in the restaurant. You are the guy who answers it and loud talks while standing under the sign that asks you not to use your phone here. You parked your car in two spots in the crowded lot, and when you drove home you changed lanes without using your turn signal or shoulder checking because you were busy holding the phone to your ear. Even though I let you go in front of me, you didn't wave because the cost of the wave too high for you. But you need to get home to steal internet commerce with far reaching, unconsidered effects. I know you. We all know you. We see you everyday. Maybe you feel we all dislike you. You feel the outcast and want to punish everyone you can because what have we ever done for you? I imagine the ever circling cycle of disdain. You punish us for not liking you, and we punish you by not liking you. I have a solution. I have an idea to stop all those you encounter from silently cursing you, from praying against you, from wishing you ill will. Come here. Let me give you a hug. The healing starts here, brother. It won't get any better by screwing people you've never met by being an internet ass. It will get better when you drop those swinging fists and lift those arms to be embraced. Let me hug the pain away. I give you permission to turn off your ringer. I allow you to be considerate of others. I give to you the ability to be loved. Have a great day, and take down those pirated Dr.H's, no? Here comes the love.

That is what is so great about Nathan and guys/gals like him. Genuine and down to earth and kind. You can see it in his eyes when you meet him at conventions and such. He's just really nice and funny and kind hearted. It does make you believe in people again.

I for one would never inflict my singing voice on another innocent soul (except my son - but being two he thinks anything that can hold a tune is great). But once when I was playing piano in a pub (it was there and they asked!), I did get an apology from a group of guys for interrupting when they crashed noisily into the side bar...One of them even played a tune for me after I had finished!

Do you think hugs would help tailgaters? I hate it when you're travelling at a 110kph and some moron comes and sits right up your backside and stays there even when you slow down to see it they want to over take you. (They'd get a bit of a shock it I had to brake suddenly for a kangaroo or a sheep on the road...)

Wow. I haven't pirated anything, yet now I kind of wish I had. You look like a good hugger, that's all.

All the posts I've read on the internet have implied that as soon as the dvd's out, it'll be bought, there's no need to worry. It was a bit frustrating being in England when the iTunes was only US-available, which may have been why it turned up elsewhere on the internet. But I'd prefer to think that Joss fans (and yours, and NPH's) have more respect and appreciation for the work and will get all sorts of official products to support Dr Horrible.

Occasionally, when I indicate to change lanes on the motorway, I flick it off after one blink of the lights. Does that entitle me to a hug? I feel it necessary to point out that it's only when rejoining slower traffic, lest I appear a Highway Code breaking moron...

It is a shame that it's not available on the Uk itunes, and you can only watch it on line now if you're in the US, maybe that's why people are posting it up elsewhere. I'm sure everyone will be buying the DVD when it comes out though.

It's also frustrating when you refuse to use iTunes. Like, you know, if you don't like the invasive software on your computer system and want nothing to do with Apple. There are OTHER digital distribution models out there.

I, for one, will be buying that DVD the second it comes out. But, if in the meantime, it were to show up on another download site (say, you know, Zune Marketplace for those of us with Zunes or XBOX Live Marketplace for those of us with 360's), I'd snag it there as well.

I love Whedon, and I love your work, Nathan. But as Boo Wilbury here points out, exclusively on iTunes actually (despite what Steve Jobs and his marketing department would have you believe) cuts out MANY people who WOULD buy Dr. Horrible.

Hulu was a good call.

Glad you had a good time at the Con - when you gonna back to the UK for one? We miss you!

Had a hugs argument with a good friend last night over downloading movies - I regard it as stealing from my friends, he regards it as a tester to see if he likes a movie enough to buy it. Either way, though, he doesn't go to the cinema to support films. I could go through the whole argument here, but it's not the place for it. I was brought up not to steal, and on the whole, it's something I stick to.

Catch you soon, Captain.

I didn't make it to ComicCon this year, (damn job) but several of my friends did and they were at the Dr. Horrible panel and told me all about it. One particular comment was "Nathan Fillion was one of the most down-to-Earth and funniest people there." I think that you are pretty awesome too. : )

Anyway, as usual your blogs are chock full of witty insightfullness. That is why I love to read them. But in regards to you singing, the gentleman was ABSOLUTELY right!! Keep it up my friend, the world is your's to enjoy. Mine too though so you do have to share.

Wish I could have gone to ComicCon going to see everyone from Dr. Horrible alone would have been well worth it! I have been unnaturally obsessed with Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog and have been making sure everyone I know has heard of it and is watching it as well...Repeatedly, like me! I ordered Dr. H on iTunes right when it came out so I could do just that! I can't wait for the DVD I hear there will be musical commentary, sounds awesome!

I also hope the fans did not buy any of the tees sold on cafepress. Be good and get them from jinx.com! I ordered the Dr. H fan-t, sorry Nathan, but I mean...It's NPH! ;) but you know I will eventually get a Captain Hammer one. After all I won't be able to help myself with all that cheesy goodness.

WOW! Hello!!! I'm all in for the hugging!!!!! HUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGG!!!

Cause you're right Nathan, Dr.H was an amazingly successful experiment!!! And no one should be trying to be messing with it and with what it represents!

Besides, now it's free again!!! So why would you need to rip it? Why not just give its creators their due by actually visiting the place they displayed it, as a way of saying "thanks, great work" or even "Kudos" =)

Good news tho Nathan, I think most people who are visiting HULU.com or drhorrible.com to watch it for free again, are like me, who still paid to have the itunes copy. So that they can support you and all who participated. And also so that they can, if even just a tiny bit, claim that they *have* Dr. Horrible. It'll mean a lot more when we have the soundtrack and then the DVD, but yes, right now I feel like I *have* Dr. Horrible. And I've *given* away copies of Dr. H like I have of Firefly and Serenity. It's a good feeling, for some reason.

Anyways, I'm glad you were feeling so great at Comic Con. Let me tell you, even tho I couldn't be there, from the vids I've seen it's obvious that you made a LOT of people feel great too.

Thanks for everything and it's great to hear from you.

secondly, it is very disappointing to hear that someone steals a freebie and posts it on their site. to be honest, i don't even understand that. but then again, there are a lot of actions in this world that are done that make no sense to me.

last note, Dr Horrible was fun, and very fresh in tone as well as medium of delivery. thanks for being a part of it and sharing.
