This is probably not worth writing about, however... I am trying to just laugh off the akward editing-gag-gone-lame between Me and the Lovely Heidi Klum "I Love you" train wreck moment but.... As a man who believes in priciples & honor, I must let it be known that I would never ever approach a happily married woman with any akward intentions at all. It does not match up one bit with my ethics. When I said "I Love You Heidi.." It was because she said something incredibly complimentary about my lingerie collection, not shown on the special, and I meant it as a great term of affection, respect and admiration. She said something that was to me, a great validation of my work. ( confidentiality agreemeant kicks in now) Heidi Klum created Project Runway, an amazing forum for fashion designers. So I consider her a "patron saint of the arts". I meant " I Love you Heidi", as a...Thank you and I look up to you, for the opportunites she created for all of the artists on the show. I think the producers wanted a hearty laugh like the one in the Lingerie episode during the presentation of our groups to Heidi. Remember the 70's guitar in the background as I say" I want to show you something beautiful "? But this time the editors, although they are the best in the industry, were rushed, they got this episode out in 2 weeks...amazing actually. As compared to the usual 6 months for the Lingerie episode for example. So, there it is...my official response to that. By the way I LOVE ALL OF YOU TOO!!!!!!!!!! ; ) df ADDENDUM 02/26/06 DF Statement: Thank you for the intense response of affection, over 2000 posts/emails on my myspace.com/finedetail account in one day! I now realize that I was waaaaaay overreacting to the "I Love you" moment. I thought my honor as a gentleman was at stake and I respect women to no end. However...Upon repeat viewings I realized I was totally misinterpreting it. In fact, now I finally see what most people saw... the comedic genius of the scene! I sometimes do get schmaltzy. True! More so after champagne! The Producers had a right to tease me about how my thank you, you are wonderful Heidi point, came out... " I Love you Heidi." : ) ... I'm still blushing about it, but laughing. I wish all of you a wonderful finale to Project Runway, I know I'm glued to it just like you! With even more Looooooove!!!!!! Daniel Franco

Actually it is worth writing about.  Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately), your life is on display right now so I personally really like the fact that you have commented on that awkward moment... because it was really odd. Of course, I dont know you personally and maybe you say I love you to everyone in every situation, but I think how they showed her face after you said, "I love you" made it look even worse.  Don't you love television?

So no, maybe you shouldnt have to explain everything you do on the show to the world, but the fact that you did I guess makes me respect you... and perhaps understand you a little more.

That shot was poorly edited.  I could tell just by watching that something had been cut out.

Understandable.  I figured that deceptive editting had something to do with that segment, but even I had my worries  :P

I figured it was something more akin to the humor in the "Love-Making" part of the lingerie episode, like you mentioned, than you being all I-am-obsessed-with-Heidi-Klum.  Part of me wonders whether it was bad editing, or editing with bad intentions, but either way I don't think your fans really care.  I know it had me laughing.  Laughing nervously, sure, but laughing nonetheless.

I honestly figured it was editing.  I’m mighty curious as to what she said about your lingerie though.  I guess we’ll never know. ;)

YAY!  I figured that whole moment was created by stupid editing, as if the episode needed some extra entertainment.  I think Guapalupe was enough, if you know what I mean (!!)  After she got done talking I was like "How did Johnny Cash and 'Walk the Line' get mentioned?!"

But anyway, I was quite happy to see you on TV again, and you know I be lovin' you too!

YAY!  I knew it was something like stupid editing...I don't know why they would have to do that for extra entertainment.  Guadalupe was enough, if you know what I mean(!!)  (how did 'walk the line' get mentioned in there?)  Well, anywho, I was quite happy to see you on TV again!  mwah mwah mwah kisses!

ah, I see, so that was the meaning behind it. That was some serious editing gag and was totally not cool. It would have been more interesting to hear what she said anyway.

Hope now that you've got this out in the open you'll be getting some good sleep tonight.

What showed through in the episode -- and happily what the editing did project -- was an integrity and a commitment to fairness and art and just being nice. Now that's a role model for TV.

Go have a good weekend!

Yea, It was a very awkward moment. Weird editing. It's okay though, I knew waht you meant. It was great seeing all of you guys on project runway. I wish there wasn't so much talk about Santino though.

That's alright, Daniel.

I actually thought it was a very heart-felt statement.....Although, I had a feeling that the producers did a lil' bit of editing here and there around that part of the show.

But, in any case, it sounded kind, sincere and with the most respectful of intentions.

Peace,

Lauren  :c )

The way they edited it was weird, like it was really uncomfortable for all of you. So i'm  glad you wrote all of that. We all love you too. :)

Awww, poor Daniel.  You didn't have to justify yourself to anyone.  But, I could understand.  I knew where you were coming from by saying "I love you", but then there really was that akward editing moment that was a bit uncomfortable.  Have you spoken to Heidi after the show aired?  What did she say?  It's actually a little funny if you rewind it and watch it again.  Keep doing what you do!  We still love you too!  Cheers!

daniel francooooooo! <3

the whole "situation" with you and heidi was hilarious. when you pitched your lingerie idea to her i could not stop laughing. and it was so obviously not serious. and i must say your lingerie was quite beautiful along with everything else of yours we saw..elegant and gorgeous. and i must say i *love* how you step back and look over your garment as yr working, for i do the same thing when i'm drawing/painting. i dunno i just saw someone knocking it on the PR group and it totally made me think of myself when i'm in artist mode. i also do the same thing during a haircut (i'm a hairstylist.) so yes. awesome.

much love for daniel francoooooo!

you are soooo adorable!! i mean, i don't blame you for saying I Love You to Heidi because she is one of the most famous lingerie models ever and for her to say that she liked your lingerie is clearly an amazing compliment (which you deserved, by the way). I think you're incredibly brave to be open like that on the air, and also for the fact that you had the courage to come back to Project Runway after the first season. I truly admire you.

and the marriage proposal still stands hehe (i know you must think i'm a psycho) <33

My brain screeched as soon as you said that.  I was thinking "WHOAH THERE, hold on a sec!"  It just didn't make any sense and it didn't jive at all with your personal character and integrity that we've all come to know.  I don't see you being that awkwardly forward to a happily married woman, or even a woman who is happily in another relationship.  I passed it off as an unwise edit, but was still subconsiously a little jittery, so I do thank you for clearing this up.  To hear what happened from you means a lot.

And yes - WE LOVE YOU DANIEL!!!!!!  I personally love (as much as one can love without knowing another personally), your kindness, gentleness, considerations for others, determination, and hard-core love for life.  You show me that no matter what bumps in the road one may face, just as long as one doesn't call into question their character, values, or integrity, and as long as they stay true to themselves, everything will be alright in the end.  Thank you for everything you are to all of your admiring fans - an incredible person as well as an ingenious designer.

*hugs* Glad to hear you had so much fun in NYC!!!

oh honey my stomuch just sank when that happened.  they were so unfair to you most of that episode. they loved to make you come off as insane the entire season but especially that episode.  sooo not fair to you. i rooted for you from the very first episode and screamed at the tv when you got sent home so early. i thought your lingerie collection was the best one up there. i couldn't watch the repeat's without whimpering my way through it. one of those moment's when you wish you could reach through the tv and hug someone. still want to give you a hug!

Daniel Franco, Where did you go?

Ha!  Loved that part!

The whole "I love you" was obvious editing...no worries.  And anyways, I don't think people really noticed...we were all too busy trying to figure out what the hell was the matter with Lupe.

I was happy to see the real showdown between you and Santino on the runway.  Good for you and standing up for yourself!

Wow, I can hardly believe you have a myspace. I'm so excited to be writing you, so I'll probably mess this up, and make you believe I'm an idiot. Lol. You are such an inspiration to me, I seriously cried when you were taken off of Project Runway. You were my favorite. I know that you will still go far. I couldn't believe it when I saw you on How Do I Look? I was like Oh My gosh Daniel Franco!! Your personality and and all around calmness amaze me. I would love to be added to your friends list, I know that you're a super busy man. So I'm not going to be expecting a comment back. But If I got one I surely would die.

Love, Honor, and Respect to you Daniel.

I am very glad you clarified this an editing issue.  Not because it made you look like you were trying to make an advance on Heidi, but because the way it was edited - it seemed completely out of context and well...a little creepy.  It is great to remind everyone these shows are heavily edited and things taken out of context and added in some place where they make for a more dramatic moment.

I also wanted to say - I think it was so brave of you to come back for season two and I wish you had been able to further, however, I respected your integrity of not pointing fingers on the runway.  I hope this is getting you closer to your "bliss".

Peace

K
