Current mood:  melancholy
Awful news shot through the comics community this morning as it was reported that artist Mike Wieringo died yesterday from a heart attack. I'm sure most of you know of his incredible work but for those of you who don't, you couldn't find a more talented and gifted artist. His spartan style just captured so much emotion and life, and he made it look so easy (which any artist worth his salt can tell you how difficult it really is). Mike and I chatted several times over the years at cons and he always impressed me with his easy going style and attitude. He will be missed.

I'm actually getting sick and tired of hearing of good, talented and healthy people DIEING. it just makes NO sense. I always enjoyed my 'Ringo issues of ANYTHING. this sucks for anyone who loves the medium.

In this time of sudden loss and sorrow, may his family and friends find solace, comfort, and healing in knowing how much joy he brought to so many in the world.

A good friend and I were sitting around last nite and talking about 'Ringo, thumbing thru some old comix and stuff. The crazy thing is, i saw an advert with his art on the cover...and it felt good, like seeing an old friend! Seeing this not 24 hours later hurts deeply, as I was a big fan! My sincere condolences to your losing a friend, and to the entire comics community for losing a hero!

I was shocked to read about it. I still can't believe I'll never get to see what he has to say on his blog anymore or see anymore new art from him. His art was really inspiring and I enjoyed seeing reading his blog to get his thoughts for the day. He was one of the best.

He was one the few artist that utilize a (for lack of a better term) "cartoony" style and could slingshot your mind into drama and adventure. One of those artists whose style is so unique and awesome you'd check out anything he drew just to see his take on that character. It's sad knowing that there will not be future work from him. Many blessings to his family and friends.

I feel Ringo! was the first to make "cartoony" style accepted in the mainstream... paving the ways for artists like Mauderia, Cambell, Guiness, and more. RIP.
