Benin is a west African nation bordering Togo, Burkino Faso, Niger, Nigeria, and the Atlantic Ocean. Hip Hop in Benin infuses local culture into its sound. The Sakpata Boys are a well-known group from Cotonou, which is the unoffical capital of Beninese Hip Hop. The religion of Vodoun impacts their music. Ardiess Posse are another popular group who utilize choppy beats, various African instruments, and futuristic electric sounds in songs off of their "Evolution" album, realeased in 2003. H2O Assouka also incorporate local traditions into their music. Emcees from benin rap in English, French and local languages such as Fon.
