Burkina Faso is a west African nation, located next to Benin, Togo, Ghana, Cote d'Ivoire, Mali, and Niger. Hip Hop in Burkina Faso began in the mid 1990s. Production of Hip Hop music has grown significantly since 2003. Emcees generally rap in French, though local languages such as More and Bambara are also used.
Yeleen (Myspace page, Wikipedia in German), from Ouagadougou, consists of one emcee- Smarty, and one chanter- Mawndoé. Yeleen translates to light in Bambara. Here are their videos: Vision de Vie and Mizaman. Yeleen has worked with Smockey (Myspace page). Here's his video for Zamana. Fada Dougou (Myspace page), resides in Chicago in the United States and his music has a reggae feel. Other groups or solo artists include: Koumankan, Faso Kombat, El Primo, Sofaa, and Pris'k.
