H E L L O,

Appaloosa was formed in Berlin in June, last year.

I moved there for a few months, escaping Paris, coz I was going through a lot of shit. The first week I was with my boyfriend, then we broke up and I was alone.

The first week, it was cold as fuck, although it was Spring. I had a fight with a junky in Kreuzberg, ( I won!). She was fucking with my boyfriend. A stupid witch.

That week, I met a lovely woman with red curly hair, Shara, a woman who used to be a man. A super nice lady, super funny.
Shara and I laughed so hard. I miss her. She is completely psychedelic although she does not do drugs. She talks and talks and jumps from the chicken to the donkey, as we say in French; she talks about the Renaissance, and next thing she talks about is the Sex Pistols.

I lived in Mitte, close to a cafe called the pony, and a store with hello kitties everywhere, and an APC store, and a Vivienne Westwood store, but I did not see so many Japanese people in Berlin.

The TV tower always made me think of a sci fi movie with shitty special effects which can be charming, but there is something definitely depressing about Berlin.

Berlin and its heroin guosts walking down its streets, seems to be stuck somehow in the past. Also, someone told me there was a lot of child prostitution in Berlin and that really freaked me out. God! Christiane F should go to school, no?

I love the herbes folles growing on the sidewalks of Berlin. The kindergardens are super neat. Great city for punks too!

One night, I went to karaoke with Antek, who is American, and Shara who is from Yorkshire. Antek called a friend, and it was Max, and we all did some songs, like "Born to be wild", and The Cure, and Elton John, and Diana Ross, etc.
That night, I met a young man from Argentina, Federico, very cool. He lived in a squat, and he told me how his sister had to get an abortion when she was 18, and how it is forbidden to get an abortion in Argentina, and how she was a fan of CAT POWER, and we listened to Johnny Cash all night long. I woke up and looked through the window, outside, and there were all these punks with mohauks of all colors.

Later on, Antek told me Max wanted to do a cover of Nikita by Elton John with me. I came to Max 'apartment, but I was not so excited about the idea. That night, Max showed me a place where the wall used to be, and it felt like it was still there.

The great thing in Berlin, was that I lived in a spacious place, with lot of light, and a dishwasher and a laudrymachinething and a bathtub and a piano and a balcony.

One day, Max asked me to come up with a song. I wrote a song on the balcony and it was about a shooting star I had seen a few nights before, and Max came up with a melody on the piano, and then, we took the U bahn and recorded Intimate in his apartment and then, Fantasy and Sinister; And then we thought we should keep on writing songs, and we did it for a month, and it felt so GOOD!
MAX's apartment was facing  a church, probably a protestant church. Most windows in Berlin have the shape of a CROSS, and Max had set the mic in front of a window so it felt like praying.

Since then, Max has visited me twice in Paris, and we also met in New York last fall. We have about 14 songs.
