About a year and a half ago I downloaded a song off Kazaa, that song was Crave by The Butterfly Effect, thus began a new sense of musical taste for myself. Since then The Butterfly Effect have been my favourite band. I really wanted to see them tour, but it just so happened I got into them just after a tour in Perth, in which was very close to the end of their album tour. So Mike waited, preyed for them to come back to Perth, mainly for the fact that Vorn would keep going on about him seeing them live before and such, in his attempt to make me jealous....and succeed. So various TBE shows and tours would pass, Filling Silence tour....every state but WA, Phoenix tour....every state but WA. It wasnt untill one late Sunday night at the end of September would I get the news I was after. After waiting one year and a half, it was announced The Butterfly Effect would finally return to Perth, on the Bread and Circusses tour with another awesome Australian band (that I didn't like that much at the time) Cog. Tickets were purchased early, and my EFFECTED tshirt was layed out ready to go.

Pitstop Festival, 25th November, Pinjarra/Fairbridge
The first show was this past Friday in Pinjarra. A longer trip than expected saw us also picking up the bassist from Antistatic who had made a little 'Pitstop' of his own ha-ha (Vorns joke). Luckily Vorn spotted him broken down on his way back from Bunbury, so myself and Claire went and picked them up from....the end of the freeway or wherever it was. So yes, if it wasnt for us, there wouldve been no Antistatic at Pitstop, and if they didnt play there wouldve been some pretty pissed off 'punters' (you'll know why by the end of the Pinjarra chapter ;) ). So yeah we get to Pinjarra and deliver static bassist, and join the HUGE crowd of people. By huge I mean....20 or 30. Tangled Thoughts of Leaving were on, and I lost all interest when all their songs were ruined by horrible, unecessary screams. Some of their music wasnt bad, but the screams just ruined it all. The Flairz were next and well....yeah....theyre little kids, LOL funneh!!11 I mean really, they couldnt of been more lame. And they were so reading off a script between songs. Cute? No. suffered through their set untill Antistatic. This was Static show number 9 since August, yeow! Didnt fail to impress again, although Drew taunted the crowd which was a bad idea, and was pelted with stress balls most of the set, resulting in unplugging's of guitars and missed chords. Poor guy. Anyways the next bands were of no interest (The Fuzz and Red Jezebel) so that called for food/bouncy castle/sitting down time. Arriving back at the end of The Fuzz we got a good spot for TBE whom I had waited to see for over a year. Oh I also had made a TBE flag...

which I had out and people had spotted and praised and were saying how awesome I am, too true. Anyways it was getting really windy, and I was getting worried and knew something would happen to stop me from seeing TBE. But moments later, TBE were on stage, I was SEEING TBE LIVE. Opening with Phoenix is so awesome, such an awesome song. The crowd (of maybe 100 or so people) then got really into with One Second of Insanity and Always, too awesome for words. I think it was at the start of Perception Twin....actually maybe not...anyways at the start of one song Clint (TBE singer) saw my flag to which he smiled, noded, and did the whole fingers to heart/point to my direction. Such an awesome moment. TBE bassist had also seen in at the start and was hell happy about it. Back to Perception Twin (current favourite TBE song), in which Clint sings a line of the song TO ME. Not just any line, the line 'Im raped and molested, touched by you'. Fuck yeah. A few songs later they get to Take It Away, they go into the whole melody/cover song of sending out an S.O.S mix song thingy, when it gets hell windy. Next thing you know a pole falls from the roof of the stage, almost hitting Kurt (TBE guitarist). They continue playing anyway, but another huge gust of wind hits, at which point its thought to be too dangerous and TBE are sent off stage :o! Halfway through one of the best moments of my life...and its called off? Im front row centre...and it just ends? The whole festival was called off, so no Gyroscope or Cog either. So dissapointing, but atleast I got to see TBE and Cog the next 2 nights, and Gyroscope at Rock It.

TBE & Cog w/Behind Crimson Eyes @ Lookout, Scarborough
Take 2 at seeing a FULL TBE set. Behind Crimson Eyes opened, and well, they're a hardcore band, enough said. They got owned by the PA during first 2 songs, so not as much screamo at the start, but it picked up towards the end. Myself and Karl tried to get front for TBE, but there were too many assholes at the front. I had a 7 foot guy in front of me, and there were 2 fucking annoying wogs who wouldve never heard of TBE and most probably listen to RNB at the front, costing us out front positions. Them aside the crowd was awesome. HUUUGE pop for TBE, sooo good. Again I must say Phoenix is such an awesome opener. Same setlist as Newport (which Ill post below) and just pure ownage. Clint also got a cheap pop for mentioning Karnivool (vool are so popular here) and possibly touring here with them for the album release (fucking yay). Also mentioned he'll be doing guest vocals on upcoming Heavy Weight Champ album (fucking yay).Man I love TBE. Cog were next, whom I had been dying to see after buying their album like a week before, I was already hooked. Cog put on an AWESOME live show. Although some of Flynn's (Singer) speeches are lame. Tonights speech was on politics and such, I dunno, I dont care about that shite. But yeah, being new to Cog I'd now rank them up with the likes of TBE and Karnivool, pwnage.
TBE and Cog w/ (P)Antistatic @ Newport, Fremantle
Last show of the tour
.....but the best
. Sunday gigs in Freo start earlier for some reason :S...so yeah there was the festival type atmosphere happening around the streets, lame. Got in just after doors had opened, and the stage room thingy doors wernt open yet, but saw Clint from TBE and Cog bassist in the room. I held up my TBE banner to the window, and Clint waved :D. He then came out and said Hi shook our hands and such, and we got pics with him, awesome guy, best moment ever. PICS!

Antistatic opened (static viewing number 10). The PA at Newport sounded awesome, so Antistatic sounded good for once...:p. Haha nah they owned as per usual, cranked out a new song which pwnd. Anchored onto front position for TBE, had my banner hanging on the barrier which TBE bassist would chuckle at again (such a happy guy). TBE would provide me with the best live performance Ive ever witnessed. I was SO CLOSE to the band. The best moment would again come during Perception Twin when Clint came right up to me at the front, leant over and sang Perception Twin with me as MY head was touching HIS head, HIS sweat on MY head. I think he mainly did it because he forgot the lyrics again (he did at Pitstop, silly billy), and came looking for help, too bad I forgot aswell. Another great moment was during Crave when he was singing right in front of my face, like......SO CLOSE. It was insane. They seemed to be having a great time so fun was had by all. Best set ever. Setlist as promised!

Cog closed again, and succeeded in impressing myself again. Their music is so inspirational and heeeell catchy. Charades was cut :( so no 'glasses of homemade lemonnaaaaade (lemon-ay-hayde)' but still an awesome set. Better than Lookout gig. Flynn's speech was awesome this time around, he was talking about bands like Cog, TBE, Karnivool, Sunk Loto and such creating their own genre of music, not metal/emo/punk and such. Another huge pop for Karnivool, awesome. Such an awesome gig, but dissapointing that there wernt enough posters to steal of the gig (Ill have to eBay for one). In conclusion, if you havn't see The Butterfly Effect live, you havn't lived. Here's some pics for your viewing.

Love Mike :)
Oh yeah I also got this at Pitstop from Trav. I won it on TBE forums but the lazy cunt never sent it, so he bought it down.

Not available in stores :)
