I just read an article this morning, titled 'Oprah Vs. Hip-Hop: Round Three', in which yet another rapper has been whining about how she has unfairly kept those who promote the 'thug life' off her airwaves. Considering that they're proponents a lifestyle that promotes unsafe, often abusive sex, drug use, the objectification of women, and crime, I can't imagine why Oprah might take issue with their 'art form'.
Kudos to 50 Cent for actually using his brain to figure out why Oprah might be making the decisions she does:
"I think she caters to older white women," the "In Da Club" rapper said. "Oprah's audience is my audience's parents. So, I could care less about Oprah or her show."
Slaps to 50 Cent for complaining about it, anyway. The bottom line is that if she did a show with a rapper preforming on it, probably 90% of her audience would change the channel.
Ludacris gets a wholly negative review from me, though. The fool's argument proves his opponent's position, if you stop and think through it for even a minute. Someone needs to stop and think a little, before he issues press releases.
"I don't see why people like Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle, who I am huge fans of, it's OK for them to go on Oprah. They speak the same language as I do, but they do it through comedy, so I guess that's acceptable."
You moron, the delivery of the material, comedy or rap, has nothing to do with it. Yes, both Chris Rock and you talk about the same subject matter: ghetto culture (although, Chris Rock has a much larger scope of material, as well). There's a key difference. He's criticizing the stupidity of 'thug life' and people's reactions to it. You glorify it. Similarly, Dave Chappelle mocks druggies, pimps, and such, quite in contrast to your stance on the subject.
Just come to grips with the fact that Oprah opposes almost everything that your lifestyle and chosen form of expression promote, and leave the poor woman alone. She often does more good for the world in one show than most of you will accomplish your entire lives.
