REVIEWS:
Uncle Mike's Love is a very heart warming short story. It reminds me that anything is possible if you give it your best try and sometimes the second time around can be better than the first. I loved how Dustin and Danny thought that they were getting one over on their Uncle Mike, but in the end they helped play matchmaker for Mike and Patty. The character of Patty was willing to forgive the past and give Mike one more chance, if others could do that the world would be a much better place. This is a cute short story and one that I would recommend for a fun and humorous read.
Chris Columbus has explored the heights and depths of love in this sweet short story. Mike is a drop dead handsome college football coach who considers leaving his career behind to regain the love of his high-school sweetheart. Ms. Columbus' tone is realism with a heart. This story is too good to put down until the reader finishes. The author should take pity on her fans and add a remote control with a pause button for those moments when life interrupts reading her delicious stories. - Jade Taylor
The story is so good! I loved it! (and you can quote me!) - Amy Wodarski, Midwest Fiction Writers
Santa Maria, are Chris Columbus' stories good! Her characters are very thought provoking, whether they might be peons or Queen Isabella herself. They take me to new worlds. Her stories are very easy reads, whether only a few pages long or 1492. This Nina can write. I am glad I discovered her. - John Fyle, Brooklyn Park, MN
I read your story last night before I went to bed…. in my estimation this was the best one yet. The characters seemed so familiar and I could visualize the places like "Millies Cafe" on 42nd where I would go after high school for french fries for a quarter. The neighbors Ella and Orin - and old lady Carlson. I especially like the little things like the kids way of telling directions and the flower metaphor with the dandelion. Keep up the great work - Pat Freiheit , Insurance Agent
I wanted to thank you for authoring "Uncle Mike's Love". I finished the story last night and was pleasantly surprised! I never knew that there were still hopeless romantics out there like me. I loved the book! This is my style of story.
Thank you so much, I really enjoyed it and hope that you keep writing stories like this one. I am looking forward to reading the other stories! And I will be the first to purchase your novel! Keep writing, there is a need for books like yours!

EXCERPT:
I was lost in thought and didn't even realize she was in front of me until Patty cleared her throat. "More coffee?"
I looked into her eyes and realized that my memory didn't do her justice. She was so much more than I remembered. It wasn't the outside packaging that stirred my soul; it was her inward beauty that shone from her eyes even when she was angry. If this were a football game I'd figure it might as well be over. "No thank you," I said. She placed the bill on the counter and walked away.
The boys had finished their food and followed me up to the cash register. Patty came over to ring us up. "We're short handed today," she explained as if I had asked why she was doing double duty.
I smiled, hoping she'd look into my eyes and remember the hot steamy nights in the backseat of my car, or walking around the town hand in hand. "Maybe we could have coffee some time," I said, not yet ready to give up…
If this were a football game maybe it wasn't over, it was only the first quarter. I was down by quite a few points, but that didn't mean I couldn't come back.
Before going out the door, I handed each of my nephews a quarter. "Four quarters in a football game and four quarters in a dollar—"
