I guess I'm nervous.  I've been digging that Hollywood ditch for a long time and this is the first time that all the pieces seem to be falling into place.  The movie is good.  Real good.  The early reviews have been good.  Real good.  So...you know...I'm nervous.

Patrick and I have a number of very real projects shaping up.  And for the first time in a long ti...scratch that.  For the first time in ever...my phone is ringing.  So...you know...I'm nervous.

Don't get me wrong, I have faith in the movie.  As I've said before, the cast made me look like a better writer.  Jensen, Jaime, Kerr and Edi are the absolute best.  Betsy and Megan are stunning. Kevin and Tom turn the volume up to 11.  The crew was perfect.  From Brian's lighting to Gary's bloodwork.  Max and the 3D crew are simply the best in the business.  Michael's score has become a dominant fixture in my day to day writing.  Cynthia, Devin and the guys in editing have created a fast paced 3D ride to hell.  Frank and the Skywalker Sound crew make me want to be a better man.  And finally Tim, Sarah and Yon have dazzled me with their Marketing and the blitz hasn't even begun yet.  So many people.  And each one performed to perfection.  So I just...you know...I'm nervous.

And then there's Patrick.  He went out on more than one creaky limb for me.  Without him I'm am rewritten and discarded.  And while the above team is astounding, without a great leader you're screwed.  Patrick was and is and always will be a great leader.  He's the best kept secret in horror.  Not for much longer I'd wager.  No doubt in my mind he's a future icon.  Carpenter, Craven, Raimi...expect Lussier to join the list in the near future.

And then there's my own small contribution as writer, actor and sometimes soundboard.  I thought I would feel more cocky.  But I don't.  On the contrary.  I feel humbled.  Honored.  Lucky.  Blessed.  Anyone who knows me should be checking beneath his or her bed for pods because clearly I have been invaded by the body snatchers.  So...you know...I'm nervous.

I guess all I can do is keep writing...and wait.  Currently I will do that as the one-armed-man since Izzie is curled up in my left arm watching Nemo in the corner of the screen.  The typing is a little slower and my left arm's utterly asleep but it's a fair trade off.

Most remakes I'm against, but this one was needed. But to add 3-D to it, now that's the price of admission. I miss horror films in 3-D, and yes, I'm that old. So I'm pretty excited to see this, if not excited for you brother. Now pump out some more comic books dangit.
lol

it's a normal feeling to be afraid when things usually fall under Murphy's law and all of a sudden ... very suddenly, it always happens suddenly - things hook up. to be honest, i'm so used to watching over my shoulder, i have no idea what i'd do if i got as lucky as you are right now. i'd probably be like you, sitting on the edge of a couch, my right hand nervously tapping on my knee, chewing the insides of my cheeks and waiting for the proverbial anvil to fall on my head.

but man. it won't. you just have to realise that it won't. not this time. especially since you're not alone. the crew you've just described at length... they're on the couch with you too. so, pour yourself some good whiskey, add some ice, play around with the glass so you can listen to the cubes cling against it, play with your little girl, and be confident this is not just as good as it's ever going to be - it might become even better than that.

and please, there'll be no contradicting me on that one.

FRIDAY THE 13TH

Usually I hate remakes with a passion, but surprisingly there's a couple I'm looking forward to over the next few months. And one of them is in 3-D!

I'm pretty sure I told you sometime last year that I thought you would make it big in Hollywood. This is just the beginning. The film will open well and have a good box office run and you will get a shitload more offers. Just remember me when Scorsese and Coppola invite you to lunch.

Dude, this warms the cockles of my leetle black heart. All hail the mighty pen, from which springeth the sword, that protects the sleeping angels from all harm. And pays for their chocolate kibbles and rollerskates.
