Fooled you, here I am. You should always know, expect the unexpected.

So Raw report is back up and will continue to be so.

Having said that, let's get to it.

At least I waited long enough for Adamle to be gone. But I surmise we haven't seen the last of him. In fact, here's what I smell. A brother/sister power taker over of the company. I think probably Adamle will resurface at some point after next PPV. But this will all push toward Wrestlemania. Just a thought, maybe they'll do a ratings contest, one having Raw, the other Smackdown. And who cares about ECW. It might make a nice contest to see who the real evil-doers are, when searching for complete control. NO doubt you could have Vince, Linda, and HHH involved. But I suspect the heel will be ? I'm not going to tell you what I think all of the time! Just thought I'd give you something to think about.

Show opens with a forum with talent, and Stephanie pushing some decisions on brother. And, trying to be sweet. Damn that is scary. Oh well, the nut does not fall far from the tree. Basically, same old interview for 20 minutes. The only bad thing with this one was, all talent except for a couple of key players asked to stand in ring with imaginary walls in between and bring up questions that would help set the table for tonight's show and PPV. Lumberjack match, Orton, Cena and Punk, and giving time to Santino who seems to have had plug pulled prematurely. But possibly loss to Regal was just giving the fans of UK a bone to chew on. Still, hope I am wrong there, as a wrestler with IC belt, would be nice. Feel like it's a mistake to waste the invested time on Santino and drop it so quickly. JBL and Shawn, just dressing up for PPV, got a nice pop, and a nice ending for forum.

Again, why so damned much talking? Why not use it on establishing talent?

Kelly Kelly vs Victoria
Again, all matches are setting the table for Survivor Series. Five minutes of entrance. Various commercials, pushing everything from PPV to games to toys to the King's choice of Divas. I'll leave THAT one alone.

Victoria truly deserves better than she gets. I really respect this girl's work. It's solid; she's done everything they've asked and some of it was truly hard to swallow. Let us look at this match. Sorry, we wasted too much time on entrance. Low points, lousy clothesline by
Victoria, due to KK not accelerating into it and taking a bad bump.

Victoria, here's how you keep that from happening. Know your opponent and what to expect. You should have charged her to insure proper clothesline. The evil and career ending schoolboy takes its first victim in first match. Just a tease for PPV. Now, the widow's peak is too damned nasty for me, folks. There will be many hurt by this,
neck or knees, or lower back. Nice touch, bringing Beth down to clean Victoria's clock and also to establish distrust between Mickey James and Beth. Again, 5 minute intro, 1:30 match and 3 minute afterbirth.

Doesn't that suck?

Batista vs Manu

2:30 entrance. Did like the way Vince used old footage to establish Manu as another second generation star. The Wild Samoans were as strong as they wanted to be. And in time, expect Manu to reach that same level as he just has that special something. Set table well, and odds against Batista with Cody, on outside of ring, and Orton on ramp.

Folks that's how you make stars. You give them bad scenario or put them in jeopardy and have them come out on top. Can't help but pull for the guy who has been given 3 to 1 against. Pretty good match, although Manu a little sloppy with Samoan drop. Batista, landing on side and shoulder. Tip: Batista, take care of yourself on the way down. The fall won't kill you, but that damned landing will. Again, enjoyed match, Batista continues to improve, and that I truly respect.

Again, thank the guys that have taught you. Cody, played chickenshit heel pretty well. And that probably helped him more than winning a match. Nobody likes a chickenshit. Good interview by Orton, making him the bully and also creating doubt in the ranks.

Evan Bourne Great highlights. Phenominal moves, high risk does deliver a significant memory for fan. So does suicide. Each time you shine, you are playing Russian Roulette. Don't have to guess, I know you think it's worth it. Today. Tell me what you think in 5 or 10 years, IF you can still wrestle, walk, talk, and sire children.

John Morrison and Miz vs Shawn Michaels and Rey Mysterio

Four minutes of entrance, good spots, great moves, a mistake, yeah John, announcer table not a good thing as it won't forgive, and doesn't take prisoners. Again, high risk moves results may be great, but so is the impressive ending playing Russian Roulette. Got to know where your going at all times. Loved the tag for Shawn by commentator on elbow
off the top. Called it vintage Shawn. Ouch! Macho Man… Very entertaining match, heat worked properly and what really made the match for me was the finish. I'm still trying to believe what I saw.

John Morrison beating Shawn with the kick. Hope to see more, surprised everyone, respect Shawn a little more for doing the right thing. Rey Mysterio, damn you are good. Didn't realize you learned so many moves from me in Mexico. Ha, Ha!

Cryme Tyme vs Kane and JBL

Damn Kane! I still got wood over your interview with Groin Car Batteries and just the visual of it all. Seems you may have given Mike Knox a shot of that. Although again, this is nothing personal, but Cryme Tyme pretty damned obvious, your time is short.

The only bone given in your match was the pop from the rap star in the audience. And Vince don't mind doing that--that is one step in creating a star. As far as your match, you guys were sluggish, slow, nothing crisp, not even running the ropes and hitting a turnbuckle.

Incredibly boring sheep walking to the edge of the cliff, and I guess just hoping for someone to put back legs in their Wellingtons and giving them one last push. Don't see you guys surviving at all.

Wonder if it has anything to do with your characters being portrayed as I never did like the light cast on your whole gimmick. Just seemed racial and cheap and sad as they were having you do all the wrong things and calling you babyfaces. Suggest you'd better kick it in or pray they have another character somewhere else down the line.

Regal vs Matt Hardy
Three minutes of entrance, congrats on title win. Great start with interview, demanding respect for the title by addressing the level of applause given the rap star and the lack of it for IC. Taking shot at your devotion to queen and country and the lack of the American
respect was very good. But DAMN, what the hell was this horseshit? A one minute match to a count out. Hell, even the afterbirth stunk to high heaven. Dammit I know you guys can work. Can't imagine why this occurred. Boring, sloppy, lack of thought, waste of talent and TV time. Didn't help pad the PPV either. I'm sure there was a reason, for lack of time. But no excuse for the worst I've seen in sometime. Hell this might win the worst of all time. Why didn't Mae Young save us on this? Or even Stronbow? EVEN Sheik! Again, guys, nothing personal but expect to see this on TMZ.

Here's how bad the previous was. I almost enjoyed watching 6 minutes of highlights and ga-ga promoting PPV, even by Jericho. WOW. Let me look at this, folks. 6 minutes. And 6 minutes earlier in the show, pushing return of Cena. If these two guys aren't over yet, they never will be. I know it's all about the PPV. But come on, how about spending time on current talent? Although a blank screen would have been better than the previous debacle. Surely somebody can come up with an idea better than the current process of shove it down your throat, til you buy it. Please, I'm begging you.

Of course Cena wins. Of course Taker wins. Watch out Russian, you're next. Now that's that. Excuse me folks, got to go back to bathroom and hope I can pass the rest of that match. I'm sure I can sue due to the polyps that have developed over what I saw. Christ, I'm thinking I may have a couple snipped, dipped in gold, and sell them to Santino as
Italian love horns. Forgive me TMZ, even you guys won't go that far. Because there was nothing to be gained. Wankers.

CM vs Randy Orton

Before I get to this last match, I just want to know who the agent was previously employed that got fired after the Regal/Hardy abortion? DAMN! Sorry Ron, or Mr. Simmons, but now I know where you got your inspiration, because DAMN says it all.

Okay, I'm out of the bathroom, now let's go for this last one.

Lumberjack rules. Lumberjack match is set up due to the need to keep normally the heel, in the ring to face his just rewards. Yes, Randy did a horrible thing to CM. But in this instance they did it to plant seeds for future confrontations, angles and a way out of this match. Normally what would happen as the heel would try to pull a Cody Rhodes and his chickenshit and run. And heels being heels would also try to obtain advantage over babyface by getting outside help. This started differently.

Orton fires CM out and when we all thought CM would be jumped by heels, he escaped and got back into the ring. AH HA!! A babyface is being created. Again creating impossible odds and having him survive. Good job, Randy, good idea. That smells of Steamboat or your Father. Or you're learning. From there, the babyfaces's screw it up. As you take your first trip out, and cheap shot Jamie Noble (which is impossible to do because no one cares). Hell, all of America hates Jamie Noble. You're not a big man Jamie, nor do you have a great repertoire. What you do have more than likely is a 40x70 singlewide. And the tires are better on it, than on your car … Oops! Meant truck.

But for babyfaces to attack Orton and get all the cheap shots before the heels initiate, is just stupid. Who are the good guys? Who are the bad guys? I know who the man was, Randy, tag, you're it. Watched you call the match and was impressed. Folks that is what a great worker does. Your Father and your Grandfather could have a great match with a
broom. Great workers have great matches even with decks stacked against them. Many can do a thousand moves but few in the right order. Watch your talking in the ring, though. But maybe that has to do with the inability to listen by others. Randy you sold perfectly and it was different. Seems you have finally found a style your comfortable with. Just hope that you have the same tenacity as stick to what you want to do. I was very impressed. It was a pretty damned good match and what was best about it, was the moves and countermoves and the pulling out the fire just in time, life saving counters. Randy, blocking his kick, okay, I get that. Simply because I was in the ring (not working with ) Kevin VonErich. and I don't give a shit what kind of sauce or spices you put on a foot, they still don't taste good. Seen you get one earlier but still you're not a pretty boy.

I truly hope what I saw tonight wasn't a freak. What I feel has happened in the past, you were being asked to follow someone else's lead. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come. At least they got the finish almost right, and Regal, you should kiss someone's ass for this, because you distracting CM reduced the garbage I had seen before. Good finish, and a pretty darned good wrestling match. I'm sure the ref got his ass chewed, and he should have, and Batista too, because if the ref is in the way when its time for your thing, take that SOB out too. Orton going for kick and having to pause was wrong. And Randy, it wasn't Batista's fault, and it wasn't the ref's fault. If they aren't there when they should be then you simply kick the SOB in the head again. Because that one wrong move took 50% of the hard work and toss it in the trash can. It's that simple folks, it's the little things. And the little holes that burst the dam.

It's true the WWE these days--they end the show with 20 guys doing their highspots. Can I ask you a question? Whatever happened to anticipation? Whatever happened to mystery? And whatever happened to the unknown? And the biggest of all, and I know you guys don't believe in it, whatever happened to leaving heat on a heel? You want people to buy tickets? Then create something that people want and make them pay for it on the PPV. But you guys create 10 minutes of heat in a show, and 30 minutes of killing it. If you tried this, maybe you wouldn't need this shove it down your throat til you buy it, method.

Entice, tease, encourage and anticipate on your TV shows then satisfy on your PPV's. Why in the hell should anyone buy a PPV? When you kick everything in the nuts and piss on it before you ever get there.

Good to talk to you folks again.

May I be the 1st to say, Welcome back! I know I'm not the only one who missed your reviews and your pieces of wisdom.

Another great, fun read. Thanks for sharing.

You know, before Survivor Series and the Rumble, WWE always ends their shows with all the factions brawling in the ring as a prelude to the PPV. They do this EVERY time ... and it's really old and at this point, stupid. (Bet they do it again before the Rumble.

Great as always Thank You Jake. I was surprised that HBK did the honors. The kind of thing in the past you would have never seen happen. Also agree with the Santino angle, I thought it was going over great. Don't get me wrong I think Regal is an outstanding worker and he has taken many azzez to school in the ring.

Your last two paragraphs summed it up perfectly.

Years ago when times were tough with the funds and as kids we would do whatever it took to get a ticket or buy a PPV. Not anymore, I keep hoping like many but, I would not pizzaz on the next PPV if it was on fire.

So honored to have you back keeping the fans posted.
Thank you Jake

Its great to see the RAW review again!!!!!!!!!!! Well said, and couldnt agree more. The feeling I got at the end of RAW is very confusing, it was not the ending I expected at the end. Every match seemed to be a way to establish the feuds for the PPV. Your insight is valuable, and its great to see someone in the business with their points of view.

Cant wait till next weeks review!!!!!!!!!!!

Jake,

There are a number of reasons I don't watch much of WWE anymore.

Most of it is because they just aren't trying.

And a large portion is because they don't have top knotch wrestlers like you.

You still are the SnakeMan and you will always be respected for your talents.

Stay strong.

FINALLY, someone who understands what's wrong with wrestling. I root for the heels more and more because I don't buy into the faces. I don't like Shawn Michaels or John Cena. Or Batista for that matter (Better as a heel). They don't give me anyone to root for.

Good to have this back, Snake-Man. I just wish there was a more quality show for you to write about. Not wretched, not tremendous, just in that gray area. Anybody in the business (and even a few outside of the business) know that Apathy is the kiss of death.
On with the show--

--The opening "forum" was a waste in my eyes. No announcements, nothing of value. Just Steph playing the deny card time and again. Santino's rap was was great though. I miss the Honk-A-Meter already. The JBL/HBK little brawl was a fun little end.

--Amen, to say Victoria's been grossly misused is an understatement. 4-5 years ago, she was THE monster Diva. Now, she's a bad joke. Time makes fools of us all, I guess.

--Kane's always been fun, especially when he gets a good promo out with not too much psycho laid on it. Just the right amount here.

--I'm surprised Cryme Tyme hasn't jumped on the "future endeavors" bandwagon yet.....again. They're just about on their 16th minute of fame.

--You weren't the only one who was completely disappointed with Regal/Hardy. Right off the heels of a stellar ROH pay-per-view (the only ones I buy these days), I was mighty intrigued with the match potential these two had. A nothing brawl with an unnecessary count-out finish which hurts both straps. Nobody likes a cocktease.

--the finish with Morrison and Michaels was awesome. One of the major high points of this show for me, this whole match was fun, but damn, I liked that finish.

--Good seeing Strongbow show up, too bad there was no video or no reaction. Even with the stories I've heard about him, it was a fun little moment.

--If they gave half the push to Manu they did to Umaga, he'd be on easy street. I want more dominance seen out of him. Afa's no joke, and here's hoping they dont make Manu one.

--I, I just don't care anymore about John Cena. Talk to me again when he turns heel. He cant be Hogan. Hell, 80's Hogan had more character depth and more intrigue than Cena these days. He just doesn't do it for me. You know what they say about Apathy......

--The lumberjack match was what it was. It got the Punk feud out of the way in lackluster fashion, but whatever. 9 times out of 10, it's a surefire cluster. You can nitpick this match to death, but with Lumberjack matches, Royal Rumbles, there's bound to be some things that shouldve been this or that or too much of this and not enough of that. I'm not gonna say a whole lot about it. I'll leave it to the Master.

--Snake-Man, you need to conduct class for WWE, quick. Psychology is a dying art, and those who are aware of it don't quite get it.
I could be way wrong, man, so feel free to correct me,but the way i understand Psychology is:

That it's not the What and How, but the When and Why.

Sound about right, boss?

Good to have these back, Snake-Man.
Take care of yourself

Great Report Jake.

And you hit the nail on the head all through it too.

Watching Raw all these years, and I've been watching since day 1, I couldn't help
but notice the lack of intrigue they offer to the pay per views. They're pretty much all the same now. In Hindsight they're mirror images of one another. And that's boring as hell.

They used to be good with the Rope a dope where you're soooo sure you got it all figured
out and then BAM! Something knocks it way out in left field and it's not what you expected.

And I miss that. That's what made it so great, you lived for that moment, because you knew it was going to be something that you'll never forget. That's the moments that people will always talk about.

i completely agree with just about everything here...i long for the days that the 2 main superstars barely touched each other before their big match..now the big match feel is gone because the guys face each other ten times in tag matches before the ppv comes...the last time i remember a big match feel to anything was rock/hogan..and that was almost 6 years ago..its just gone now. I dont blame wwe as they have to produce ratings and all that but i long for the days of old where the anticipation was almost better then the actual match itself..and will someone please learn an actual wrestling hold again...please lol

the reason for the hardy/regal match (or so I'm inclinded to believe) is Matt had hurt his knee at a show in Europe, not enough to put him on the injured reserve list, but in order to keep it from progressing to that state he's taking it easy until survivor series. I guess the match was meant to be a teaser for the pay-per-view...just a guess though.

Welcome back, sincerely.

Also, wouldn't it have been far, far better to have Orton set up for the kick, then see Batista about to charge him and, instead of taking a spear, Orton bails out of the ring? That's heat!

Man, I'm actually forgetting when all of these pay-per-views take place; there are just so damned many of them! They pass me by every month and I read about them the next day and say, "oh, that was last night, huh?" This literally happens every two weeks; yeah, don't forget about the terminally ill-advertised TNA shows.

Hey Snake, nice read you summed RAW up nicely..My only question is,If Cena is going to win the belt why wont they at least evan if it is pre-recorded at least let him talk? I will be pissed if he steps through the curtain takes 5 min. to walk to the ring just to win the belt in 15min. To me there is and was no build up to the match. I am not a big Jericho fan I think he is a half assed heel but its better than him being a baby face.Raw does need more bodys so Cena will be some fresh air if he were to just come back work through the ranks you know? like a 1 contender match. To me the WWE is like a 800 gorilla it can do what ever it wants. When you are the biggest thing out there and all you have to worry about is a wrestling organization like TNA you seem invincible. They had better be careful all TNA needs is a big pop to help catapult them in to WWE territory. Its like they dont care or they are not evan thinking anymore. Well sorry I kinda went the way of a rant. Have a great day.

totally agreed. as a lifelong fan and "student of the game" i can say that wwe has lost almost all grasp on what makes a great match. not that they do not throw down on PPV, they usually do. but the week to week is ridiculous. raw is standard WWF programming as it's been for the past 20-plus, smackdown is WCW recontextualized, and nobody gives a tinker's damn about ecw. The current product does not amout to a pimple on Lou Thez's ass. it's a sorry excuse for professional wrestling. that must be why the call it "sports entertainment".

Hi Jake! I hope you are doing well!

During the European tour in Manchester, England, Matt hyper-extended his surgically repaired left knee against Finlay in an excellent 25 minute match. That was probably the reason for the one minute match to a count out with Regal. They probably didn't want to risk further injury so he could wrestle in this Sunday's PPV. I think it would have been better not to wrestle at all until the PPV and after that he should take time off to take care of his knee, then come back when it's fully healed even if he has to give up the ECW title.
He could always win it again!

I was about to say the same thing.

I don't understand why they would send him out there in the first place on RAW. Just poor decision making there. No need to bring the ECW Champ out to face the IC Champ.. Why not just put Regal against a jobber to make him look strong as champ. WWE is so ass backwards in their booking.

Great to have you back!!! Missed your insights but, thanks to your other reviews I had begun watching even more closely than I had been before and to recognize the crap they had been slipping by.

Shawns deal was unexpected but was good. I am also getting tired of all the Cena viginettes. ALLRIGHT ALREADY, HE'S COMING BACK, I GET IT!! I never really liked him all that much, but have come to respect him somewhat for his work. But instead of always falling back on him as champ, could we build someone else....PLEASE!!!
As for Hardy and Regal, maybe it was because Matt had injured his knee when they were on the last overseas stint, and they were taking it easy on him, because he did soldier on through the rest of the tour with the bum knee. But that begs the question, why even have him in a match at all, and risk aggravating it anymore, especially if it has already begun to heal. Have him do an interview if you just want to get him on the tv for the buildup. Why risk making him HAVE to wrestle a long match at SS with a knee not properly rested and healed and risking even more injury and stinking up the PPV in the meantime.

I also didnt get the babyfaces going on the attack first in the lumberjack match. I thought the heels would get Punk first when he was tossed, but it looked like a massive case of brain fade and Punk said F**k it, I'm getting back in the ring. Yeah that whole thing with Batista and the ref almost ruined a good match and I would have loved to seen what would have happened if he had plowed down the ref. The world will never know.

Take care and til next week......

it's so cool to read what a pro has to say about raw and get really into it. i hardly watch raw anymore. it seems like it's missing something, like it doesn't have what you were referring to in the end (mystery, anticipation, unknown). i remember as a kid watching the Rockers on the Barber Shop patching things up and then BOOM! the super kick through the window! then Shawn prancing around as the pretty boy with the Sensational one with it all boiling down to when the former Rockers finally faced each other in the ring. you just don't see that sort of substance anymore. now it's just someone walking out and hating on you and that's the story. barf.

just a response to the guy who said tna just needs one big pop to get on wwe's level..WRONG..they are so bush league it isnt even funny..god that ring is horrible..commentators are unbearable and the talent is uninspired...samoa joe and aj styles needs to do what christian is about to do and get up north where they can become worldwide stars before its too late...and to the guy who said kane should've been released years ago...WRONG AGAIN..Kane has done his job and done it well for a long time..blame the booking over the years..he has constantly been put in shit situations that have made him look stupid like now for instance..its just not believeable to have rey mysterio go over kane..i love rey but cmon..kane would squash him like a bug so it makes him look rediculous...if hes supposed to be a monster...HAVE HIM BE A MONSTER DAMN!!!..they've been doin this with Kane for so long..just like when xpac used to go over him...kane is one of the best big men ever in the business but the wwe was never quite sure how to use him properly after his initial feud with taker was over..its a shame!!!! If u read this Jake id love to know your thoughts on this..thanks!

Wow! I just read and learned more about wrestling in one article from you than I've gleamed in the last six months reading the slop that passes for informed wrestling articles on the internet. Your posts are greatly appreciated,Jake!

I totally agree Jake on everything. I don't buy PPV's ever since the Monday night wars. WCW might have been worse about it, but WWE has their moments aswell. The thing that pisses me off about them is back in the day, PPV's were worth the money because fueds were either being majorly fueled or they concluded them. the worst was StarCade Bret Hart vs Goldberg for the world title. How do you charge people money to basically tell them "tune into Nitro tomorrow night"? Santino I find funny as hell, I like him but as IC Champ???? The IC title has been desicrated beyond belief and virtually means nothing now. It's a shame to those who've brought that title respect in the past like Curt Hennig, Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels [although I hate him it's true] , Randy Savage, HTM etc. Instead of using a title trying to get a character over, the character should be getting the title over as in the past but somewhere along the lines that became no longer the case. The fueds today are flown through. With a PPV every month just as a fued is reaching a high point it's ended. What happened to the old days of the soap opera, to the days when a match itself told a story and 1/2 a show of mic time wasn't neccessary? What happened to the days when they did cut a promo they actually said something worth a damn. [Except for the warrior, he's was always a fool] If we only had a time machine.

In regards of the heel and face question, I think the Attitude era reveresed the concept, not entirely, but certainly a lot. The more arrogant and underhanded a wrestler is the more they seem to get cheered nowadays. In the old days the use of a weapon used to be the action of the heel, nowadays the fans yell encouragally for that kind of stuff. I think WWE don't care about good v evil anymore, just seems to be an entire roster of permenately indecisive tweeners.

Shortly before Adamle left I read a report which claimed that Orton threatened to walk out of WWE unless Adamle was removed from RAW. HHhmmmmmm.

Great to have the Snake back.

What your thoughts on the Jeff Hardy HHH feud?
and the Jeff Hardy Undertaker feud?

ECW is a joke id rather watch old WCW than new ECW
if Vince had a brain he could have kept ECW a prime undergound association
and draft the odd star whos a fan favourite into the WWE

He could have put Gangrel and Kevin Thrown into a tagteam or feud it would have been intestering il never know why he brought back that useless fat viscera over Gangrel who had a awesome DDT for a finisher

I know some poeple dont agree with hardcore wrestling but with out it we would have probly never seen Raven,Sabu,Vampiro,RVD,CMpunk etc [You cant compare Hardcore wrestling to Clean wreatling cause they are very different worlds]

Hardcore wreslting are producing some of the best talent ever
in mainstream wrestling most wreslters are villania
its the hardcore wreslter that are making new moves
www. youtube. com/watch?v=aMg4NTbVoWg by a wreslter called derek frazier

I clean wreslting and hardcore wreslting but i dont think they have found a cutoff point on the violence
the CZW is very violent i seen someone put a strimmer along somes back now its impressive that someone wants to please the mad fans like that but at the same time silly to do that just for a wow from the crowd

one new wreslter who has impressed me is a tough indonesian wreslter called the Joker
http://uk. youtube. com/watch?v=466ckmyu28I

he would fun to see in the WWE he could the next Tajiri

sorry for my rant haha it just my veiw

Oh God, I've been looking forward to this for a long time. The girlfriend doesn't believe me when I talk about blown spots and how the WWE crams their product down people's throats.
It's too bad she's not a Snake fan :(

Good to have you back, Jake.
