Current mood: creative Category: News and Politics
I put this list together in response to reading about and hearing some people say that they didn't know what to do for Ron Paul. I have lovingly "stolen" ideas from friends, blogs, forums and any other source I could think of. So if you see your idea on here, thank you! Comment this and take credit! Here's what I'd like: please add to the list, criticize all you'd like (all I'm interested in is getting Ron Paul elected, and I'm thick skinned), if you like the list, feel free to copy it and post it wherever or pass it along. I am hoping that you readers will comment with your creative ideas. Add to this, and pass it along. I regret that I have but one very busy life to give to the Ron Paul campaign ;) Happy Campaigning! - Donate
- Put a bumper sticker (or 12!) on your car
- Put up a yard sign
- Join a meetup group
- Participate in meetup group functions (note: Passionate about Ron Paul but uncomfortable meeting new people? You'll find many a kindred spirit in a Ron Paul meetup; you'll feel like you've known these people forever!)
- Learn as much as you can about Ron Paul on the issues
- Then, direct people to Ron Paul's websites and reading materials
- Make home-made signs and hang them up or wave them on a street corner: name recognition is crucial and people need to see that it's Real People who support Ron Paul
- Register to vote if you haven't already
- Donate
- If your state has closed primaries, register republican to vote in the primary
- Consider becoming a republican delegate
- Do a sign waving on a street corner, have a friend join you
- Do a sign waving on Constitution Day (September 17th)
- Watch "America: Freedom to Fascism"
- Give a copy of "America: Freedom to Fascism" to friends and family
- Commit to speaking to at least 3 people per day about Ron Paul
- Write "Who is Ron Paul?" in chalk on sidewalks, sign posts, at the gas station etc.
- Tell a friend about Ron Paul today
- Be passionate, not rude and overbearing. Screaming at someone to whom you're trying to convince to check out Ron Paul is a turn-off. Sometimes you just have to propose an idea and ask someone to check it out. Then, follow up later.
- Print literature and hand it out
- Buy a Ron Paul tee shirt and wear it whenever you can
- Buy a second Ron Paul tee shirt so you don't have to do laundry every night
- Ask your friends to donate
- Read and understand the Constitution and the Bill of Rights
- Become a good listener; seize on every opportunity to mention Ron Paul's name and stance during conversation (If you really listen, you'd be amazed at how many hot button issues are mentioned in the course of casual conversation: war, terrorism, borders, the economy, etc. It's an instant "in".)
- Save your change in a bottle, call it Change for Ron Paul = Ron Paul for Change
- Donate that change
- Get together with a group to make signs
- Hang the signs on overpasses, fences and wherever else you can find to hang them
- Put your face on the Ron Paul mosaic
- Donate
- Already donated the maximum? There are other ways to spend money on the campaign. See if your local meetup group needs sponsorship of an event, buy an ad in the paper, pool funds for a TV or radio ad, have materials printed for the "ground-pounders", buy paint and supplies for the sign makers, and the list goes on.
- Have a free car wash for tips only and to pass out Ron Paul literature. Have a bake sale or a garage sale to raise meetup funds.
- Talk about natural and God-given rights to everyone you know of. Remind people that the government exists to protect our rights.
- Ask your family members to donate
- Leave Ron Paul promotional materials or liberty cards on store shelves, at the counter or in the dressing rooms.
- Put Ron Paul stickers on the back of your business cards
- Put a link to ronpaul2008.com on your website
- Write or stamp something with Ron Paul's name in it on your paper money
- Sponsor any kind of event where you can get Ron Paul's name on a program, sign or tee shirt
- Talk to the republican clubs at schools, offer to assist them with events or ask if you can hand out Ron Paul literature at events
- Attend local town hall meetings, comment on anything unconstitutional
- Wear your tee shirt to those town hall meetings
- Put Ron Paul stickers on all your mail and packages
- Put a Ron Paul liberty card or other business sized info card inside every envelope and package you mail
- Donate (are you getting close to the maximum?)
- Be nice! Sugar attracts more flies than vinegar. Take a lesson in being humble from Ron Paul. Ideals such as [true] individual liberty, smaller government and sound money policies are foreign to most people. Shoving it down their throats simply will not work.
- Study up on the other candidates' positions so you'll have a "defense" if needed
- Put a Ron Paul link and message in your e-mail signature
- Instead of the traditional close of a letter or e-mail, use "In Liberty" or some other catchy phrase. Mine is Freedom, Peace and Prosperity.
- Send an e-mail to everyone in your address book with some introductory information about Ron Paul
- Send a letter with same to everyone in your snail mail address book
- Do a survey in your neighborhood, asking people if they've heard of Ron Paul (guaranteed to start a discussion!)
- Attend republican and libertarian party functions (in tee shirt, of course!)
- Drive your Ron Paul stickered car in the center lane so everyone can read your bumper stickers
- Park in conspicuous areas so your bumper stickers are visible
- Write on your windows with window chalk/markers
- Get a myspace or facebook. Put something about Ron Paul in your name and photo and of course on your profile
- Network there and any other place you can think of
- Sign up for youtube
- Send videos to your friends and family
- Ask people to Google Ron Paul
- Find creative places to place small signs, stickers buttons and anything else with Ron Paul's name on it. Purses, backpacks, computers, cell phones, lockers, you name it
- Put a photo or poster of Ron Paul on your office wall
- Ask your kids to talk to their friends about Ron Paul, invite said friends to a rally or sign waving
- Leave Ron Paul reading materials at your doctor and dentist office
- Donate
- With people you know, have a follow up discussion on Ron Paul. Ask what they think, help them find answers to their questions
- Find private business owners willing to put up signs and have literature available for customers
- Read up on Barry Goldwater; it's a good "in" with the older generation
- Come up with catchy responses to objections. As an example, if someone says, "Ron Paul doesn't have a chance". Say, "You're right. He won't have a chance if everyone who really likes him decides not to vote for him for that reason. But won't it feel good to vote for someone with principles for a change rather than holding your nose and voting for the lesser of two evils?"
- Seek help and advice from fellow Ron Paulers if 1) you have questions or 2) think you may be in need of a 12-step program for your Ron Paul obsession ;)
- Donate
- If you're a person of financial means and sign waving isn't your thing, please consider financial help to the meetup groups so they can purchase booths and materials to promote Ron Paul
- Put a nice Ron Paul graphic in your e-mails

- Join other groups holding rallies, especially if they are aligned in any way with Ron Paul. Bring your signs and promo materials and wear your tee shirt
- Tell people that Ron Paul is Founding Father material.
- Passion about Ron Paul and the Freedom message is contagious but it sometimes takes a bit of time for it to take hold.
- Know the receiver of your message and design the message to the person. For example, the homeschool mom will be interested in a "different facet" of the Freedom message than say the liberal democrat concerned about the patriot act and civil rights.
- Remind people that Freedom is NOT a political party
- Leave liberty cards at restaurants along with a generous tip J
- Wear your "Choose Liberty" wristband
- Tell people that Thomas Jefferson would vote for Ron Paul
- Ask friends and family members to donate
- Vote in on-line polls
- Write letters to people in other states regarding Ron Paul
- Participate in phone calling for Ron Paul
- If you're capable of it, travel to other areas to help spread the word
- Have meetings in high visibility "public" places such as restaurants. Wear your tee shirt and bring promotional material. Don't forget to leave some promo material on the table.
- Find someone with a barn roof who will let you paint Ron Paul on it
- Buy a billboard ad for a month
- Buy an ad for public transportation
- Send e-mails and letters to any outfit who doesn't include Ron Paul as a candidate (meanwhile including people who haven't even declared)
- Hire an airplane to pull a Ron Paul banner.
- Do whatever makes YOU comfortable and is within your ways and means. But whatever you do, don't keep Ron Paul to yourself. Spread the word. Freedom is popular! We CAN do this!
