Current mood:  creative
Category: News and Politics
I put this list together in response to reading about and hearing some people say that they didn't know what to do for Ron Paul.  I have lovingly "stolen" ideas from friends, blogs, forums and any other source I could think of.   So if you see your idea on here, thank you!   Comment this and take credit!

Here's what I'd like: please add to the list, criticize all you'd like (all I'm interested in is getting Ron Paul elected, and I'm thick skinned), if you like the list, feel free to copy it and post it wherever or pass it along.

I am  hoping that you readers will comment with your creative ideas.   Add to this, and pass it along.

I regret that I have but one very busy life to give to the Ron Paul campaign ;)

Happy Campaigning!

  1. Donate
  2. Put a bumper sticker (or 12!) on your car
  3. Put up a yard sign
  4. Join a meetup group
  5. Participate in meetup group functions (note: Passionate about Ron Paul but uncomfortable meeting new people?  You'll find many a kindred spirit in a Ron Paul meetup; you'll feel like you've known these people forever!)
  6. Learn as much as you can about Ron Paul on the issues
  7. Then, direct people to Ron Paul's websites and reading materials
  8. Make home-made signs and hang them up or wave them on a street corner: name recognition is crucial and people need to see that it's Real People who support Ron Paul
  9. Register to vote if you haven't already
  10. Donate
  11. If your state has closed primaries, register republican to vote in the primary
  12. Consider becoming a republican delegate
  13. Do a sign waving on a street corner, have a friend join you
  14. Do a sign waving on Constitution Day (September 17th)
  15. Watch "America: Freedom to Fascism"
  16. Give a copy of "America: Freedom to Fascism" to friends and family
  17. Commit to speaking to at least 3 people per day about Ron Paul
  18. Write "Who is Ron Paul?" in chalk on sidewalks, sign posts, at the gas station etc.
  19.  Tell a friend about Ron Paul today
  20. Be passionate, not rude and overbearing.  Screaming at someone to whom you're trying to convince to check out Ron Paul is a turn-off.  Sometimes you just have to propose an idea and ask someone to check it out.  Then, follow up later.
  21.  Print literature and hand it out
  22. Buy a Ron Paul tee shirt and wear it whenever you can
  23. Buy a second Ron Paul tee shirt so you don't have to do laundry every night
  24. Ask your friends to donate
  25. Read and understand the Constitution and the Bill of Rights
  26. Become a good listener; seize on every opportunity to mention Ron Paul's name and stance during conversation (If you really listen, you'd be amazed at how many hot button issues are mentioned in the course of casual conversation: war, terrorism, borders, the economy, etc.  It's an instant "in".)
  27. Save your change in a bottle, call it Change for Ron Paul = Ron Paul for Change
  28. Donate that change
  29. Get together with a group to make signs
  30. Hang the signs on overpasses, fences and wherever else you can find to hang them
  31. Put your face on the Ron Paul mosaic
  32. Donate
  33. Already donated the maximum?   There are other ways to spend money on the campaign.  See if your local meetup group needs sponsorship of an event, buy an ad in the paper, pool funds for a TV or radio ad, have materials printed for the "ground-pounders", buy paint and supplies for the sign makers, and the list goes on.
  34. Have a free car wash for tips only and to pass out Ron Paul literature.  Have a bake sale or a garage sale to raise meetup funds.
  35. Talk about natural and God-given rights to everyone you know of.  Remind people that the government exists to protect our rights.
  36. Ask your family members to donate
  37. Leave Ron Paul promotional materials or liberty cards on store shelves, at the counter or in the dressing rooms.
  38. Put Ron Paul stickers on the back of your business cards
  39. Put a link to ronpaul2008.com on your website
  40. Write or stamp something with Ron Paul's name in it on your paper money
  41.  Sponsor any kind of event where you can get Ron Paul's name on a program, sign or tee shirt
  42. Talk to the republican clubs at schools, offer to assist them with events or ask if you can hand out Ron Paul literature at events
  43. Attend local town hall meetings, comment on anything unconstitutional
  44. Wear your tee shirt to those town hall meetings
  45. Put Ron Paul stickers on all your mail and packages
  46. Put a Ron Paul liberty card or other business sized info card inside every envelope and package you mail
  47. Donate (are you getting close to the maximum?)
  48. Be nice!  Sugar attracts more flies than vinegar.  Take a lesson in being humble from Ron Paul.   Ideals such as [true] individual liberty, smaller government and sound money policies are foreign to most people.  Shoving it down their throats simply will not work.
  49. Study up on the other candidates' positions so you'll have a "defense" if needed
  50. Put a Ron Paul link and message in your e-mail signature
  51. Instead of the traditional close of a letter or e-mail, use "In Liberty" or some other catchy phrase.  Mine is Freedom, Peace and Prosperity.
  52.  Send an e-mail to everyone in your address book with some introductory information about Ron Paul
  53. Send a letter with same to everyone in your snail mail address book
  54. Do a survey in your neighborhood, asking people if they've heard of Ron Paul (guaranteed to start a discussion!)
  55. Attend republican and libertarian party functions (in tee shirt, of course!)
  56. Drive your Ron Paul stickered car in the center lane so everyone can read your bumper stickers
  57. Park in conspicuous areas so your bumper stickers are visible
  58. Write on your windows with window chalk/markers
  59. Get a myspace or facebook.  Put something about Ron Paul in your name and photo and of course on your profile
  60. Network there and any other place you can think of
  61. Sign up for youtube
  62. Send videos to your friends and family
  63. Ask people to Google Ron Paul
  64. Find creative places to place small signs, stickers buttons and anything else with Ron Paul's name on it.  Purses, backpacks, computers, cell phones, lockers,  you name it
  65. Put a photo or poster of Ron Paul on your office wall
  66. Ask your kids to talk to their friends about Ron Paul, invite said friends to a rally or sign waving
  67. Leave Ron Paul reading materials at your doctor and dentist office
  68. Donate
  69. With people you know, have a follow up discussion on Ron Paul.  Ask what they think, help them find answers to their questions
  70. Find private business owners willing to put up signs and have literature available for customers
  71. Read up on Barry Goldwater; it's a good "in" with the older generation
  72. Come up with catchy responses to objections.  As an example, if someone says, "Ron Paul doesn't have a chance".  Say, "You're right.  He won't have a chance if everyone who really likes him decides not to vote for him for that reason.  But won't it feel good to vote for someone with principles for a change rather than holding your nose and voting for the lesser of two evils?"
  73. Seek help and advice from fellow Ron Paulers if 1) you have questions or 2) think you may be in need of a 12-step program for your Ron Paul obsession ;)
  74. Donate
  75. If you're a person of financial means and sign waving isn't your thing, please consider financial help to the meetup groups so they can purchase booths and materials to promote Ron Paul
  76. Put a nice Ron Paul graphic in your e-mails
  77. Have a cookout or potluck to exchange ideas
  78. Post blogs about Ron Paul
  79. Comment on blogs and articles; post comments on forums, mention Ron Paul everywhere.  Engage in *friendly* discussions on political forums and websites
  80. Post something about Ron Paul on craigslist.org
  81. Submit creative writing, such as "What Freedom Means to Me" to newspapers and magazines
  82. Join other groups holding rallies, especially if they are aligned in any way with Ron Paul.  Bring your signs and promo materials and wear your tee shirt
  83. Tell people that Ron Paul is Founding Father material.
  84. Passion about Ron Paul and the Freedom message is contagious but it sometimes takes a bit of time for it to take hold.
  85. Know the receiver of your message and design the message to the person.  For example, the homeschool mom will be interested in a "different facet" of the Freedom message than say the liberal democrat concerned about the patriot act and civil rights.
  86. Remind people that Freedom is NOT a political party
  87. Leave liberty cards at restaurants along with a generous tip J
  88. Wear your "Choose Liberty" wristband
  89. Tell people that Thomas Jefferson would vote for Ron Paul
  90. Ask friends and family members to donate
  91. Vote in on-line polls
  92. Write letters to people in other states regarding Ron Paul
  93. Participate in phone calling for Ron Paul
  94. If you're capable of it, travel to other areas to help spread the word
  95. Have meetings in high visibility "public" places such as restaurants.  Wear your tee shirt and bring promotional material.  Don't forget to leave some promo material on the table.
  96. Find someone with a barn roof who will let you paint Ron Paul on it
  97. Buy a billboard ad for a month
  98. Buy an ad for public transportation
  99. Send e-mails and letters to any outfit who doesn't include Ron Paul as a candidate (meanwhile including people who haven't even declared)
  100. Hire an airplane to pull a Ron Paul banner.
  101. Do whatever makes YOU comfortable and is within your ways and means.   But whatever you do, don't keep Ron Paul to yourself.  Spread the word.  Freedom is popular!  We CAN do this!

Tell me about it! I have 3 children: 15, 13 and 10. Every time I hear a rumbling about a draft or sabre rattling about attacking yet another country, I cringe. Not only that, but I share the same sense of foreboding you do for the future of our country; I certainly didn't have children to leave them a war-mongering, police state where the populace lives in constant fear.

Indeed, I am obsessed. And I joke about needing a 12-step program. But in my mind, this IS a revolution and I never dreamed I'd see something like this in my lifetime. So I'm working it every way I know how.

I believe in the power of ONE and the snowball or ripple effect. We can change the course of our country. Or die trying...

...as for me, give me liberty, or give me death!

Awesome list Terri!

Additionally, if your State has a closed primary (direct primary limited to registered party members in order to vote in the election) then you can hold a voter registration drive further promoting Ron Paul:-)

You also can get in contact with your Representative from your district, and tell him about Ron Paul, and possibly he could help in promotion? Representitives have a lot of clout and social stature. Could you imagine an event with a district representative who is promoting Ron Paul's cause:-)

All I can say is Ron Paul supporters keep spreading the word! Never give up. Always keep persevering and thinking out of the box.

Thank you!

Here is a list of ten everyday things you can do to help Ron Paul

1. Donate whatever you can $10, $25, $50. All of these little donations add up.

2. Put up signs around town. You can either make your own signs or buy pre-made signs. My only suggestion is to put your signs at least 9ft high. Otherwise anti-Ron Paul people will tear down the signs (trust me they will tear them down). I try to put up 3-4 signs per day.

3. Give out Ron Paul slim jims (little cards you can get from the Ron Paul campaign store). Whenever you meet people just hand them a card. I go to Occidental College and I place these cards on every desk in classrooms.

4. I also set every computer in the Occidental library to automatically direct people to RonPaul2008.com when they open their internet browser (its free advertising).

5. Talk to your friends and family and get them to support Ron Paul. Give them flyers and tell them to check out RonPaul2008.com. Then your friends will tell their friends.

6. Get a Ron Paul bumper sticker for your car. More free advertising for Ron Paul. People are always in traffic and they do look at bumper stickers.

7. Join your local meetup. Or even better start your own meetup group. Great way to organize and pool your efforts to help Ron Paul. Meetup.com

8. Write or email new organizations like NBC, FOX, MSNBC and tell them that you want them to interview Ron Paul. Believe it or not this works. Fox news was forced to have Ron Paul .. all of his supporters demanded it.

9. Put Ron Paul signs in your front yards. These are really effective. I just watched a video on youtube from a new Ron Paul supporter who said that he first heard of Ron Paul from a yard sign.

10. This last one might be a little inconvenient. Go to a sidewalk near a busy intersection and hold up a Ron Paul sign. This works best if you do it with your local meetup group. However I have done this by myself and I got quite a few positive responses. Of course there are always a few idiots who tell you to go to hell but it was worth it to help spread Ron Paul’s message.

Thanks
