Ok check it out. If you live in the United States, this is pretty urgent. The voting registration deadline is coming up, go here to see when the deadline is for your state. Some are in like a week! That means that your registration has to be done and postmarked ON OR BEFORE the date next to your state. We aren't coming out to endorse a candidate or influence your vote, we're just trying to encourage you TO vote. That's the important thing. It's very easy to be an armchair revolutionary, or to say to yourself "ah it doesn't matter it's not gonna affect my life". Even if you don't think either of the candidates is Captain fucking America(how killer would that be?), you should view your status as a citizen of this country as enough reason to voice your opinion. Not just on the candidates, but on the propositions in your state! Find out what they are! Politicians pass propositions all the time that you never know about, propositions that affect your life on a statewide local level, that they sometimes HOPE you don't find out about. If you believe in larger budgets for education in your state, have a stance on immigration, gay marriage, abortion rights, everyday shit like money to fix the potholes down the street, etc...VOTE! You can go here and click on your state to see the list of issues that YOU will have the ability to influence this November 4th. If it doesn't give you a major hard on to be able to directly shape the future of the society you live in, you can never bitch about taxes, the man, civil rights, anything. Ever. You forfeit your right to bitch. So click on this link to register to vote if you are over eighteen and haven't already. As you know, it's really easy for a lot of things to get royally fucked up in a very short period of time, so don't be a sloth. For that matter, don't be a moron and vote for Sloth from "The Goonies" either in the write in section of the ballot just because you don't like McCain or Obama. Pick one. Imagine someone has a gun to your head and you are forced to pick. Roll the dice. Don't be a pussy. 1992 Eddie Vedder would come kick your ass if he knew you weren't voting! He would stand on a stool in your living room and write stuff on his arm about being pro-choice while looking super intense and burning holes in people with his eyes and sending flannel shirt shredding sonic booms out of his voice box. Why do I get the feeling nobody will get that reference? Because I'm old that's why!

Oh right! Our band! Hmmm lets see. What's new? We are busy mailing out T-Shirts. Nonstop. The people in line behind us everyday at the post office HATE us by the way. We're not putting any new designs up until everything has been mailed out, so sit tight. Then the epic Mouth Of Ghosts design will be up.

Ben Weinman has been holed up like a mad scientist blasting out the furious Dillinger Escape Plan insanity that will eventually find it's way onto our next release. When Ben says that the stuff he's been writing has actually been giving HIM a headache, you know it's gonna be pretty intense.

The first Spylacopa EP is coming out in November. Links to early reviews, interviews, articles, and info can be found over on that page. Check it. www.myspace.com/spylacopa.

I heard a rumor that there's a Shit Yeah!!! release on the horizon too. Stay on the look out. www.myspace.com/huntthecougar.

We have no touring plans for the immediate future, but you can be sure that we'll take a break from writing at around the halfway point and head out for some quick runs, so that we don't lose our minds(probably too late).

For info on everything and anything Dillinger related, you can check back here, or remember to check out Spreading Like Wings if you really wanna dork it up.

HAHAHAHA thank you for that delightful insight into me. coming from someone studying the greastest -pseudo-science lie there is, i shouldn't be surprised. indeed, i am mad they are still here. few things piss me off more than a liberal-crybaby-bedwetting-douche. also, Phish and the greatful Dead suck. so there, that is why i hate hippies. not to mention most of those fucking hypocritical assholes claim free speech and love and peace, yet they tend to be the most bitter vindictive, merciless close-minded arrogant hateful pricks i have ever met. yes i am most certainly mad they are still here. it's like having someone pee in the gene pool.

Because none of them will actually win. I mean I can go to the World Series and root for the Baltimore Orioles to win all I want but they won't be playing in the World Series this year so it won't matter.

Those third party candidates aren't trying to win, they're just there to draw people's attention to the issues they feel aren't getting mainstream airtime. I agree that Obama and McCain aren't the strongest contenders ever but the reality is that one of them is gonna win, so you gotta pick who you think will be the better of the two.

Isn't this mentality why third party candidates never win? I mean honestly, if I look at the situation and say, "I don't agree with either of the two major party candidates, but since the smaller third party candidates aren't popular enough to win an election, I'll just choose between Obama and McCain anyway.", wouldn't it be logical to think that if this is my form of thought, that since I can't win, I will give in, that other people think this same way? And if everyone thinks this way, everyone meaning the general population, then of course one of two candidates from the dominant parties is going to win. But if I decide that I won't give in and decide to vote for who I really believe should be president then at least I'm not succumbing to the system.

Just a thought, but still, kudos to you guys for getting the message out there to people to vote.

when people vote third party/independent/whatever, it doesn't necessarily take attention away from the democratic and republican candidates. it can help the third party politicians out for the next election. thus giving them a better chance next year (we all know they need it). if someone doesn't want to vote for Obama or McCain, they shouldn't. thats fucking retarded. just because one of them HAS to win shouldn't dictate anyones vote. thats not what voting is all about.

As demonstrated in the Clinton-Bush election, third parties can screw up elections.
As in, a bunch of republicans voted republican, and a bunch of republicans voted third party for that one guy (who's name I care not to look up) who's basic ideals were similar to republicans but more appealing to certain republicans than there parties candidate, which would've been bush.
Then all the democratics voted democratic for Clinton, which contributed to Clinton being elected.
Which was helped by Republicans being split on their vote.

The problem with what you're saying is that: so many candidates with so many similar and somewhat different ideas will just split people's votes up and possibly result in a president that more than half of the nation didn't even vote for and possibly never would have.

and even though this isn't part of my argument saying voting for third parties is useless or sometimes a straight up bad idea, my personal opinion would be that for every presidential election the candidates should be narrowed down to two.

I absolutely disagree. There is no way ever ever ever no matter how much noise you make that a 3rd party candidate would win in this climate. Ever. The two party system would just have to be expanded. Ross Perot did better than anyone and he didn't even come close to winning. The problem is that the majority of people think that third party candidates are radical lunatics and the majority doesn't want to see anyone far left or right running the country, but they have done that to themselves. Until a third party is formally recognized as being as legitimate and consistent in their beliefs and turnouts as the two main parties, they will never have success. It's too late at this point to vote for them, there is no point in voting for them in the primaries. They had their chance to race, they didn't make it to the big day this time. Their point is solely like I said to bring attention to non mainstream issues. I'm stoked you are on here though! Lets turn this comment thread into a mini political messageboard hahaha. Just lets vow to not get pissed at one another and be able to calmly disagree! Cause we love you SMNnews hahaha.

Because I mean if you are gonna ban smoking in public because it stinks and can cause cancer you should ban hippies in public because they stink and spread lice hahahah.

Fuck you. Go put on some perfume and make out with your little faggy between the buried and me fuckers. The reason hippies smell bad is because they follow around bands and dont have a home to shower at. They arent invading your homes and trying to make you smell them or give you lice. They are enjoying their lives not being cruel to others. All this shit talking about hippies shows how pathetic each of you are and that you all have so little respect for other peoples choices in life that you get on fucking Myspace and talk shit about people you classify under some stereotype that fits anyone that has long hair or smokes pot. Why dont you tell that to Genghis Tron... they obviously smoke pot and in an interview even you guys said that you were driving down the road smoking blunts and tripping shrooms. Thats kind of hypocritical isnt it? Just to inform you on your ignorance if you will tune in to the Grateful Dead channel on Sirius radio(yes they have their own station fuckhead) you would hear that everyday they are encouraging people to go out and vote for Obama. They arent saying "Go obliviously vote for a canidate so you can bitch about how bad you think the elected canidate is" they have been protesting for peace and political issues while you were still a baby shitting on yourself. So before you go pointing the finger at a group of people you know nothing about why dont YOU self-absorb that disgust?

lolz to this faggot.
let's just assume that all hippies follow around bands and don't have a home.
except hippies don't. those would be groupies, and most hippies do have homes. aka, the houses on the street with constant weed clouds rising from it.
and get a sense of sarcasm, holy shit.

as far as the grateful dead sirius radio shit....
cool? but not really. If everyone decided to vote for whoever someone else told them to then what's the point of a freedom to vote, and for that matter, free will.
Their is a difference between a congregation of like minded individuals and a congreation around one person's ideas.

You have no fucking clue. "hippie" was a term used to describe people from the 60's-70's that were 'hip' or 'cool'. Hippies don't exist now.. there are only dumb fuckheads who grow out their hair, smoke some pot, get really wasted and piss on your car(a guy actually did piss on my car one time). I guess you would be right about the fact that hippies have homes because now all of the hippies are old and have families. People should have the freedom to vote but when the mass of the population is stupid enough to put up with GWBUSH for 8 fucking years its apparent that theres a serious need for change. How can you say supporting a candidate is taking away someones freedom to vote? They can still go and vote for either candidate regaurdless. Thats like saying a commercial promoting McCain is taking away my freedom to vote for Obama. "LOLZ" a congregation around one persons ideas is a congregation of like minded individuals you dumbass. If they are congregated around Obama's ideas then they are "like minded individuals" for they all support Obamas viewpoints. You comment lacks logic. It would be nice to live in a society where people weren't judgemental pricks but who would want a group of people one could relate with right?

sorry, I must be mistaken then. didn't you say hippies follow around bands and don't have homes? It's hard to do either when you don't even exist anymore. if you want to prove a point, don't contradict yourself.
and of course, any one that supports bush is stupid, right? there must be NO reason for the nation to elect him not just once but twice. Currently, Obama's and McCain's plan for the war are way too similar. as far as the war goes, there's not much indication that any democrat leader would've handled the situation any differently. unless you just take Kerry's word for it that he "would've done things different."
and (I'm really getting tired of addressing all these stupid issues that you don't understand) I don't know about you, but my television plays obama AND mccain ads. not just obama ads. where as that sirius channel would just support obama.
and I'm reffering to a bunch of individuals, who are like minded and rally under one party.
hence "congregation of like minded individuals." individuals being a key word.
a congregation around one person's ideas would refer to a bunch of people who gather around one person's ideas without any of their own.

I am referring to the counter-culture movement of the sixties and seventies. The reason I say there arent hippies now is because now they are adults and do not follow around bands. I should have said hippies used to follow around bands and didnt have homes. You think that by paying attention to politics and the news that you are going to have any idea what is really happening around the world. Politicians are liars and our government is currupt. Oswald didnt shoot Kennedy, the official story of 911 is physically impossible (planes have wings- so how could a plane have made a circular hole through the pentagon without the wings crashing through the sides. Also it didnt leave a scratch on the lawn or any debris? It was obviously a missle. And the twin towers! Have you ever heard of PHYSICS? hmmm the building collapsed at freefall speed in less than 10 seconds. Is this the first steel enforced building to magically collapse from a fire or was it a controlled demolition(anyone with fucking eyes can see that the steel beam supports gave way in an orderly manney which is exactly what occurs during a controlled demolition (also if you look at pictures of ground zero the remaints of the steel beams can be seen with diagonal cuts across the tops of them so the steel beams were obviously cut. Not to mention many witnesses reported hearing explosions after the initial impact.)), IRS tax is not constitutionally justified because it is an unapportioned tax. Now tell me..... what are these "stupid issues" I dont understand?

I appreciate you guys encouraging people to vote, but that line about not writing in a name and picking one of the 2 candidates is pure shit. It always comes down to 2 worthless candidates that won't do anything. That is why we are in the situation we are in. We haven't been presented with a real choice in decades. The only power we have left is the power of the right in. Its our only way out of the ONE party system. I must say I am in complete disagreement. If you like a candidate and they didn't get as far as you had hoped, WRITE THEM IN!!!!!!!!!

You know man I agree with you, it is very much a one party system, if you look at far left and far right ends of the political spectrum, the Democrats and Republicans in this country are both pretty centrist, but there are still big differences in terms of personal liberties and views on things like welfare/taxing/socialization vs privatization/etc. As far as candidates go it will be very hard for someone who isn't preaching right down the middle to ever win. I agree that both candidates aren't that much to get excited about, but I really don't think me writing Count Chocula in the box or Ron Paul or whoever in the box is gonna make a difference right NOW, at the primary level. Those people had their chance to get people's attention, if they made enough impact they would be at the debates the way Perot was, they didn't, and next time maybe they will.

Personal liberties? Obama voted for FISA. McCain didn't even show up to vote for that one, although he raved about it.

Welfare? They're both endorsing the corporate welfare/takeover plan.

Taxing? Both are talking about tax cuts.

Socialization? They're both endorsing the corporate welfare/takeover plan.

WOW that's awesome I can't believe you guys responded!!!!! Your definitely right, no difference will be made in THIS election, but we gotta start somewhere. A 3rd party candidate will never be able to sway enough people to make a difference because they will NEVER get enough media coverage. The only way to make that happen is through us, the voters.

There are some differences between the candidates but for the most part only on issues that don't effect everyone. When it comes to real problems that will affect everybody (like the financial crisis) they are in total agreement, and in that way, no matter who you vote for, the same agenda will be carried out. I can't vote for another 4 years of financial terrorism without anything being done to stop it. On that issue, any vote for either candidate is a waste.

My write in vote won't make an immediate difference but it will be a start, and if i can build on that by encouraging others to do the same then eventually, before my life is over. I might see an actual change in our system.

Again thanks for responding... Never got a response from a band before, especially on political issues P.S. you guys really gotta get another DVD out there!!!! Im Dying!!!!!!!

Eddie Vedder is only like 5'1", but.... shit he is terrifying... but more importantly. I really really really dig seeing you guys promotin' the votin'. I would not have taken the Dillinger to be the most socially conscious band ever, but I am impressed. There's nothing better than getting the word out to people who respect what you say... some bands don't seem to understand the influence they have on the large groups of people that are their fanbase.

And I also completely agree with what was said about 3rd party candidates; as much as I adore the politics of Ralph Nader I just can't see myself throwing my (very first!) presidential vote down the fucking drain for someone who has a better chance of winning the lottery than winning the presidency in 2008. The time to get your voice out is all in the primaries... it's true, what we need to take down the corporate fucking duopoly that is America's two-party system is attention, and bigass statistics, but not November statistics. A hundred thousand more Iraqi citizens are going to die in the next four years when all of our third party votes go to watse when they would have otherwise gone to a certain "kind-of-pretty-good" candidate, and then that certain other "G.W. Pt. II" candidate actually makes it to the white house.
