Good evening,
i'm currently in a gorgeous suite, in a beautiful hotel in the centre of Amsterdam. I'm over here to do a few TV and radio shows. It's strange, i've had alot of success over in Holland but i've never actually stayed overnight. It's always been daytrips or we've been on the sleeperbus. It's a nice feeling. We went for dinner earlier and i loved how vibrant the city was.
So i just made a quick note of what to write because we've been sooo busy. It's so knackering. We were in Los Angeles last week and i feel that i'm just getting over my jetlag. It's hideous.
I was excited about going to America as this time i was 21 and could go out to bars with all the guys. I was quite gutted that i didn't get ID'd!!! So the night we arrived me and the guys all went for dinner at the Chateau Marmont. Chris and Shannon paid for my dinner for my birthday and Matt gave me one of the funniest presents i have ever received. It was a set of coasters each with a picture of one of the guys on them. All very bad pictures might i add. Particularly Adam's. Poor Adam ;-) Although the best part of the present is a jigsaw of Frankie(the best monitor man in the world!) Frankie is hilarious and so is this picture of his face! Now i have it in jigsaw form.
We had such a nice dinner and cocktails but i have to say i prefer New York to LA. LA just seems so spaced out, you never actually feel that you're in the city. I like to have stuff going on around me. As soon as we arrived in Amsterdam this evening, i totally relaxed cos it was busy and there were people about, i'm prefer that when i'm staying somewhere.
The reason we were in LA was to film the Craig Ferguson show. It went really well and the band played perfectly, not that they don't always, but this time the sound was so good and we all done really well. One take Wonders ;-) I'm not sure when the show is going to air but it'll be sometime this month. We got some more great news today, we've been asked to do the Ellen Degeneres show. This is one of Americas biggest talkshows and it's so exciting to be invited to play!
So before LA we were playing at the Connect Festival which i thought was wonderful. It was such a gorgeous setting, apart from the midges and wasps, the crowd were excellent. My mum and friends were there and i could actually see them from the stage, even though my mum was right at the back! Just before i went on stage i found out that Stevie and I got the house we were trying to buy, so i was able to tell mum and Kelly from the stage which was funny. The house is gorgeous, it's like a proper home. All i need now is an R8 in the drive ;-)(God you think they'd have given me a wee deal by now, the amount of press i've given them ;-) The Guillemots were on just before us and i got to meet some of the band. I think they are absolutely amazing and deserve to have soo much success! GO AND BUY THEIR ALBUMS! They played an amazing set at Connect. Fyfe's voice is incredible and he was such a lovely guy as well.
Straight after connect, we were right into the sleeper bus to get to Stansted for 630am as we had a very early flight to Tromso, in the north of Norway. Because we are so busy we hadn't actually researched properly so none of us had sensible clothing. There were even few pairs of flip flops! Tromso is inside the arctic circle!! It was bloody freezing. I had to perform with about a million layers on, i thought my fingers were going to fall off! The funniest thing was watching Jamie perform whilst wearing this oversized, ridiculous looking coat. He looked like a football manager!! I think he should wear it more often. Travis were also playing at the festival and it was cool to talk to Fran again, we had a nice chat and even met again at the airport the next day. The rest of the band were trying to get stories out of Chris(my tour manager) about their tech(one of chris' old friends) I think he had some stories to tell :-)
This blog is completely backwards, because after Norway we went to LA but i've already told you about that. So after LA we had to get on a bus and go straight to Lille for a radio gig. This was particularly hard after a 10 and a half hour flight and the fact that our body clocks were set 9 hours behind the actual time. The whole journey was spent with us encouraging each other to stay awake, but this didn't really help when i was sat wide awake at 4am! We played the gig and it went really well. There were so many people there.
Afterwards we were straight on the bus back to London. We all had a horrible debate about whether or not we would do a 'watery grave.' A watery grave is the horrible term we have given to the act of ignoring the rules and staying on the bus when on a ferry crossing. I'm usually fine with these and find that the rocking motion of the boat helps you to sleep, but unfortunately with my jetlag i woke up pretty much as soon as the boat shut its doors and we were locked in the hold! I thought everyone was asleep but it turns out that nobody was and we were all cowering in our bunks. I think the phrase started from Jamie. One time when we done this before, Jamie woke up and could hear alarms and completely panicked and was running up the bus hoping someone was awake cos he needed a hug. It's actually really funny and we have this ridiculous debate everytime we go on a ferry. It's so funny how many strange quirks you pick up on tour. I've been with the guys so long and it feels like a really bizarre family. You'd think that cos i'm the youngest i'd be the child but i am definitely the mother :-)
I finally got home on Sunday and had a few days off. I very much enjoyed cheering on Andy Murray in the tennis. I thought he was wonderful and i am positive that he'll win everything one day. Give him time. It's so amazing to see people do so well especially when they're from my home. I get very emotional and proud. I definitely shed a few tears when Chris Hoy won his 3rd gold in the olympics. Oh did anyone notice how much the BBC were absolutely loving amymac on the olympic coverage? They used Mr rock and roll and poison prince constantly. I heard each of them about 5 times a day on there. It was so cool.
So now it's past midnight, here in Amsterdam. i think it's raining outside or somethings leaking.
We have two TV shows to do 2moro and there will probably be interviews and stuff too. It really does take it out of me so i best get some sleep.
I'm going home for a few days and Kelly and I are going to watch Falkirk v Hearts on Saturday. We always have a great laugh going and also THERE'S ONLY ONE STEVIE LOVELL :-)
i think this massive rant has probably explained exactly what i'm up too.
Night Night xxx
