Good day from Basel, Switzerland.

I am back to work. I have had some time at home recently, mainly because i was suffering from a few nasty illnesses :-( Trust me you don't want me to go into it.
I'm still feeling pretty fragile and definitely looking forward to Christmas to get a nice break but right now we have a few gigs and promo commitments to get done this month so we're all back at it again.

I've now sold 1.75 million albums! which is absolutely astonishing! It's still rising constantly and now I have the deluxe album out people are all buying that too!
To think around this time last year i had gone platinum(300,000) how much difference a year makes!!

I'm in Basel tonight to play a gig as part of the AVO sessions festival here.
The promoter came in to tell me that he has been organising this for the past 20 years and everyone has played here! He said that he has never witnessed such demand for tickets as he had for me.
We sold the first night out in 3 minutes and the second one out in 4 minutes. He told me when he had Elton John here, he sold out in 1 day!!!!!
I will never get used to hearing things like that! Infact i don't think i'll ever properly believe it.

Last night i played my biggest gig to date, in front of 5500 people in Amsterdam. It was a great night and i hope the crowd enjoyed it as much as we did.

It is getting a little bit harder doing all of this because it isn't fresh anymore. It gets exhausting, constantly travelling and always answering the same questions. I have put so much effort into everything i've done and i'm so grateful that people like what i'm doing. This job would be a lot harder if they didnt.

So next week is going to be very exciting for me.
Not only is Diego Maradona going to be at Hampden Park for his first game in charge of Argentina against Scotland, but the SFA have i asked if i will go on and sing the national anthem before the game.
This is such an honour for me and i feel so lucky to be asked.
Everyone knows how patriotic i am so i'm not sure i'll be able to do this without crying ;-)
I'm so excited.

Anyway i best be off now.

Amy x

A beautiful voice , a great band and a BIG heart, I'm sure you could cry and sing at the same time and everyone would love it. There's a MacDonald in me too, I understand the passion. Take care of yourself, I want to buy Amy MacDonald's greatest hits, volume 5, 15 years from now.

I think if you sang the Scottish Anthem at the Battle of Falkirk, William Walace would have kicked Edward the 1st's butt. Don't worry about the tears, everyone will have them.

I read the other day, "to catalogue the Scottish contribution to America is to engage on an endless quest for it is the mark of pride in America to be able to claim Scottish blood or to invent it" :)

Hehe, sounds pretty cool. Bought your album, too - and I need to say: RESPECT - as you can see on my page another scottish girl is my favourite and in between a good friend of mine. So, looks like the Glaswegian music scene really is perfect...;-) Hope you will have time to relax around Christmas. Enjoy your big moment next week at Hampden Park...lol, Im part of the first european football radio station (www.90elf.de) and I can imagine what kind of feeling you will have... Take care, Tom

I was there, in Amsterdam, last Tuesday. Front row! It was an amazing gig! I do hope you'll be back soon. I am sure we enjoyed it as much as you did, you said we were quiet, but... that doesn't mean we weren't having a great time with your great music! And we could all tell how proud you are, when you told us you were gonna sing your National Anthem at Hampden Park next week! Good luck to you, Amy, oh, and.... the new songs are at least as good as the ones on your album!

Hi folks, Saw the French concert last night in Paris (Bataclan) Our local teenagers here would say 'trop de la balle' This means really magic. Must say I was inviting my kid (13) for is birthday, and I Enjoyed the show probably more than him !!! Amy I guess you will soon fill in the Staduims more than all these football players. (I do like football) Just loved the baggpipes at first. Hope you saw the scotish flag up on the balcony of the Bataclan. Keep going, waiting for your new songs. Merci, La France t'aime

Hello there beautiful! Well I hope you'll sing it like a bird, and me hope Diegos team end up loosing the game...well I enjoyed your gig in Stockholm you were really sweet, I now must ask you a question: Do you think that you can change people to the better, are you still a believer or has your success/celebrity blinded you from your true path and mission? If you wanna come back on track and get a gigantic motivation boost, you are welcome to contact me Beautiful! Greetings/DIGITALLA from Sweden :-)

Touring takes it's tole and band's can lose a member or two. The Beattles retired to Abbey Road, though, to get off the road but the whole band broke up. A little touring from time to time with good enough breaks in between seems to work the best, look at the Rolling Stones, they lost a few but they are still the Stones :) I may never see Amy Macdonald LIVE in my life time but I'll follow her endeavers as long as she and the band does them, They're GREAT!!!!!and she's WONDERFUL!!!!!!!!!
