Good morning.
I'm so happy right now. The weather this week has been wonderful, but not quite as 'roasting' as most of the scots seem to think ;-)

It's funny, as soon as the sun comes out the clothes come off. I was in town with my mum yesterday and the amount of stupid girls we seen wearing vest tops and flipflops! it might be sunny but it's still not warm!
It's amazing how happy the sun makes you. Stevie's been outside every day this week washing the cars. How many times can one man wash a car??? In his case ALOT!!!

I'm still in my bed and have been so lazy. I just phoned the landline from my mobile and when Steve answered i asked if i could put in an order for room service ;-)

So this week has been quite chilled, i always have so many little errands to run so when i get time off i really make use of it.

On Thursday I was playing at the launch dinner of the new Audi terminal in Edinburgh. I was sooo happy to be there, everyone knows of my love of Audis. I was performing right next to a lovely white R8, was probably the best audience i've ever had, R8's, Q7's, TT's hahaha ;-)
We were given a lovely meal by the chef Martin Wishart, it was pretty special. and it was nice to see Jamie eat something without moaning, he just wolfed it down ;-)

I don't really have alot to say really, just thought i should maybe write a wee blog to catch up.

I'm on the home stretch, as we've been calling it. After 2 years of promoting this album, it is about to come to an end. It wasn't really a natural end, as people are still requesting promo trips constantly, it's more a case of if we dont come to an end with this album then i'll still be promoting it when im 40!
I constantly say it but it really is incredible how well things have gone. I'm really grateful to everyone.

So i finish up with 2 gigs in Paris in around a weeks time and then i have 3 months off to get some songs together and try and get some demos recorded. I am one of these people that only ever gets inspired when i'm at home. So everytime i've been here i've sat down in my wee music room and tried to come up with something. I've got a few songs which i'm really chuffed with and it's so nice to be doing things in my own time and not to be pressured by anyone. Everyone at my label is great and I understand how lucky i am to have complete creative control with such a huge company.

There's obviously been stories in the press recently about people that don't have that control and it makes me realise what a horrible business this can be. I find it truly shocking that a young boy can have all his dreams come true and then  have them taken away so quickly. I hate everything that these reality programmes stand for and i find them completely cruel and humiliating.
Simon Cowell has no interest in music, his interest is money.
Obviously there are alot of talented people that come from these shows and i'm not disputing that. I just wish there was a better way for them to get noticed. I don't see what's entertaining about a middle aged man upsetting some young girl or boy with scathing remarks about their singing.

I'm sorry about my ranting i just get so annoyed by certain things and i just can't help it!

Anyway moving on.....
So after my 3 months off i'll be playing alot of European festivals in the summer. It's going to be a busy few months but i'm going to recharge my batteries beforehand and go to the Maldives. Stevie and i have been admiring the Maldives for a while and we just decided lets do it. We'll probably have to sell the house first, in order to afford it ;-)

So back to the Scottish Sun. Yesterday i had my sunroof open!!!!! In Glasgow!!! I was rumaging through some of my old things at my mums house and i found my old Cd wallets filled with mixup cds that my friends Leighann, Kelly, Laura and I made for T in the Park 2006. I can't believe it was so long ago. These CD's are absolute crackers! Every song was a tune. My 3 favourites being, Disco Down by shed 7, Disco 2000 by pulp and the Passenger by Iggy Pop. I was just driving around with them absolutely blarring!!!it was brilliant!!

Anyway my chat has been particulary crap today, so i do apologise for having nothing to say ;-)

Amy x

Yes the sun is amazing!! I'm been waiting for it for months.....Luckily there is some good music in the world, that always transport you to a sunny place, with white beaches and blue seas...........For everyone who wants to been noticed for their musical talents, I have this to say. Your in the right place!! My Space is for me the best promotion you can have and if you need a boost you can always give me a yell. I would be happy to promote you by writing it on my blog or give you some links for gigs in Belgium or the Netherlands...X Factor is SH&é"'(t!....Amy you need a well deserved laidback holiday at the Maledives with Stevie.....If every friend on my space gives you a dollar...I think you could keep the house.....And yes, you got the get rid off that promotion tour and get prepared for your next album after a loooong lazy period, it's always difficult the second album.......Good luck with everything in your career and life! x........ps Shed Seven is super!!

I saw you preform on Graham Norton and thought you were brilliant so bought your album, I am the same as you though, i'm an artist but I can't paint unless I feel settled (I also need great music to play whilst I paint so get going on those new songs)......With regard to Simon Cowell, I wouldn't worry about the preformers on the show, if they were interested in the music rather than stardom they would be doing it the hard way and playing out in pubs and clubs etc, Simon Cowell and the contestants feed eachother, it is a quick fix for both Cowell and the contestants. The contestants on the show aren't like you, you have natural talent, the ability to play an instrument and the ability to sing, they can just sing, there is a huge difference, you get more scope on your music because you deserve it.

Just to prove a Simon Cowell point, below are my three friends, Ryan, Dan and Matt, Matt can sing, he can sing incredibly well but he doesn't know how to play an instrument or write music or songs, Dan can play the bongos, he can't sing, write music or songs, then there's Ryan, he can sing, play an instrument, write music and write songs...so, who deserves more creative scope?............................................You deserve everything you are given, don't forget that, you have worked incrediblly hard to be where you are today and you deserve all the success you get, Ryan will too when he gets there.............Have a good day and enjoy the song............xxx............P.S. sorry, i'm a bit opinionated :)

Many apologies I didn't realise that you wouldn't appriciate the song...Ryan has already been signed, Matt is already a professional singer and Dan isn't interested in a career as a bongo player so I didn't think it would matter if I put it on here to show you...my mistake

Do you really not understand what i'm talking about or are you messing with me? Basically I put a youtube video on here to show you then a little later I fancied listening to the song myself so I came back here to listen to it and it had gone, so I assumed it was removed. Sometimes bands don't like other bands showcasing thier music on their page so I thought I had offended you in some way, so I went on to explain (very badly) that I was simply showing you the video and I wasn't using your page as a way to get my friends noticed...make sense? Doesn't matter now. It was very sweet of you to reply. xxx

Well I am deeply touched and flattered by everyones interest in my blog comment, very strange, if you read the post above yours it clearly states that I posted a youtube video on here, which isn't here anymore, and I don't think it takes a genius to work out that it was obviously my friends on the youtube vidoes. I wish I never mentioned it now, I was simply trying to prove a point with regards to Amy's annoyance in relation to Simon Cowell not letting his performers have any creative scope on their work. I was simply saying that Amy is allowed all the creative scope she wants as she deserves it due to her talent, but the people on Cowell's shows don't get any because they don't deserve it. It wasn't a random thought or anything, Amy mentioned it on her blog.......Please feel free to post any other quesions directly to me so we don't have to ruin this blog by talking about nonsence.

Please relax... I don't think we will *ruin* this blog if we go on talking about this topic. And I did get what you wrote about Cowell & Co. (I perfectly agree btw), it's just I happen to have read your comment a few minutes after it was posted but I didn't see anything "below", so I'm just wondering where the video was supposed to show up. My question is basically about myspace software, not about what you meant cos I don't think there will be two different opinions about it. Peace xx

Hi everyone, I reckon the video didn't show due to it being 'embedded' (I have no idea what that really means, but i'm sure it means something) I very nearly posted it again to see if it would work, but thought better of it incase it didn't work as that would make me look like a mental case, so instead I thought I would leave this link here incase anyone wishes to watch the video we have been talking about. Take care :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AEP-TFnTYPU

As raulGH says, it is indeed a priviledge to have Amy's ear and a place to return our appreciation for all the enjoyment she has given us. It is in her nature to communicate with her fans, she's such a people, person. I always select all and copy, before I post anything here or anywhere, just in case there is a problem in cyberspace, (things do happen there). Web links especially have problems since myspace, youtube, facebook and others do not want anyone leaving their http://, the longer we are on their turf, so to speak, the better chance we'll see an add......Bravo to Amy and her FRIENDSHIP, this is a special place and I appreciate it, she even tolerates my attempts at poetry ;-)

Hi, as Domingo has said, it wasn't my intention to tell anyone off for going off subject... on the contrary, I think this blog is a great space for us to express our thoughts freely, and the most clear example of what I'm saying is Amy, who writes in this blog exactly what she thinks, she's so sensible, so down-to-earth... It's a great privilege that Amy is here with us :-) ......Once again, let's enjoy this wonderful blog :-) By the way, Domingo: nice video :-)

It's my guess the chicken pox was just a rash since there was no mention of it in this blog, it's GREAT to know all is well!!! Reality shows for some can be a bummer but they wait in line for hours just for the chance to audition, of course for some it is a shortcut to stardom. The SUN, we have had spring teases, several times now, in the last two months only to be disappointed. This week weather in Washington State is a mixed bag, all kinds of stuff..... The only one playing Amy Macdonald on the jukebox here in our club is still me, you are still very new in many parts of the US, unknown in others, big country, lots of competition. People sometimes will get up to see who's singing and I'll get up and explain who you are, some have since downloaded your songs, they like you when they here you :)......I've had inspiration for a new poem lately, they just appear in my head, so I may get it down here soon, appreciation for the much appreciated, you're GREAT :)

By the way the weather in Scotland can be sometimes be one big suprise in a very positive way - once I was out there in the Highlands at the Braemar Highland Games in September and I even got really roasted by the sun. So keep the good music and good weather up !........PETER :-)

A princess in a land with no King..........She got there by her own means..........Through hard work and determination, too..........And tons of talent and good looks to boot..........and yes she has a knight in shinning armor..........Hopefully with the wits to charm her-----...... ......Inspiration from her parents,..........She often quotes her Dad..........Intelligence, a way with words..........and a knack for musical arranging..........A princess now but a queen to be..........a few more years and all will see----...... ......Yes, she is our princess now..........We don't want to rush things..........Queenness sounds so old..........But in years to come, mark my words..........the world will be at her feet----............40 promoting, "This is the Life"..........hardly very likely..........but the music within, is all classic..........and, like The Stone's first songs..........will be popular for generations----...... ......Amy's building on a solid foundation..........what a GREAT album to start out with..........A Princess created from a gift within..........and a desire to communicate it..........continuing to add fans from around the world..........that's the least anyone would've expected!!!!!............Derek, "may you have fair winds and following seas"

Frankly, the T-Dome and Key Arena are too big and cavernous---fine for Green Day but not intimate enough for Amy I think. Same with the Comcast Arena in Everett. Tons of smaller venues around tho...I put in several requests for the Pantages Theater in Tacoma to schedule a gig with Amy, who knows? I've been to the Highland Games at Enumclaw (or was it Eatonville?) --not really a venue for a concert imho. But Amy in the NW, YES!
