I received a VERY interesting diorama object!!!! Its actually quite moving that it will be a part of my album artwork...but you'll just have to wait and see what it is!! So far I've gotten a wonderful collection of trinkets, but I still need more! Keep'm comin!

I finally feel like things are REALLY coming together for my record. To start, I seem to have a few financial angels around me, who are making this all possible. Its amazing that I'll be able to pull off the completion of this record without the help of a label, which usually ends in some sort of destruction anyways. The independent model may not put me on the top of the highest mountain, but it will at least put me in a much less precarious spot. Things can only get better from there. Now, with producer, Duncan Sheik, the studio time is booked, the players are in, the artist is in, and the new website is weeks away from launching.

My only issue right now is that I still don't have a title for the record! Do you have any ideas? I've been collecting a list of possibilities, but I'm still not sure if I've even come close. I want the title to not necessarily come from a song, but rather explain the record as a whole. I want it to point out the fact that the songs were inspired by a wide range of emotions, which I've felt over the past few years...Kind of like a diorama of emotion...Here are some ideas I've had:

"Fin, Fur and Feather" (meaning, "the whole shebang")
"Lady Grey" (yes, its a tea i love, but "grey" is the color of mystery and I have a song called Grey on the record.)
"Night Watch" (as in, an Owl, my favorite bird)
"Grimoire" (its a witch's book of incantations...another name is "Book of Shadows")
"Hunter Gatherer" (yup, thats me!)
"Box of Moonlight" (i know its a movie, but i love the movie...nothin wrong with stealing the title, right?

Also, once again, I have posted an updated bio on my page, so check it out if you have any interest. Might help when brainstorming album titles!

Thanks you guys and gals!

How about "Diorama of Emotions" or "Emotions I Have Felt" as possible album titles?

Have you tried borrowing lyrics and using that for the title? If not...well, I'll think of something to help you brainstorm...just need to take a listen to some of your music.

My vote stand very strong with Box of Moonlight. There are other titles that can be used as well. There's this one song I really like by an indie band. The song is called Glimmering Girl and in the song there is a lyric that stands out to me. 'Wrap up the world forever, turn the stars into a string of pearls..' I think a beautiful title for your album would be maybe making something from those lyrics. You could do something with the string of pearls and the artwork on your album, like a string of trinkets or something, I don't know. I'm not very creative.

Anyways, I'm just stopping in to say I can't wait for the new record. I can't wait to see the album cover, I can't wait to put my earbuds in and walk to work singing and humming along to your new record, like I do with your current disc. I really am amazed at how wonderful that album is. The greatest thing about it is I probably wouldn't have any idea you existed had I not won tickets to see Daniel Powter in August of 2006. I'm glad I entered that contest, it's not something I ever do.

Also, I'm so glad to hear things are working out in your favor with this record. You don't need a destructive label bringing you down or making you something you're not. You're amazing just the way you are and if the general public can't see that and accept the true beauty in which your music is then they don't deserve to hear it. You're a real musician, a real songwriter, a real person with heart and soul and passion for music. A label will only do what its title says, make you a label. You won't be heard for who you really are but for how catchy you are and for how much money you can bring back to them. Don't ever become a product, you're too good for that. Your devoted fans will help spread the word in the right way. You will be great for who you are and in the end, no one can or will be able to take that away from you.

As for a title, what about "Grey Shadowbox" or "Shadowboxes Grey"?

So good things are closer to the end. Getting the right title is always hard. For some reason I don't like when an album is entitled as one of the songs. Maybe because it's giving me the feeling that the other songs are not so important? The explaining-the-whole-record title is much better idea, in my opinion. "Lady Grey" sounds interestind but I have no idea what the songs are like so I think you shoud decide on your own.

So glad the website is coming! Its both previous layouts was amazing so can wait to see the new one. I loved those artistic designes...

Happy New Year!

Ooh, mysterious :P

Im thinking Lady Grey, out of the list. I was thinking maybe 'The Emotional Spectrum'? Probably pretty weak, but hey, Im not all that creative... oh, as if, i googled it and it kinda already exists. not as an album title though.

Anyway, Happy New Year Holly :)

I say nothing too "fluttery" or girly i mean you and your music are growning and matureing so with that you want something a little more grown up. Now I personally like Grimoire.
But what kind of mood does your album have? no sense in naming it after a witches book if if your not exactly darker toned or themed you know?

Well, what's the theme of the album?
I agree with a previous comment of maybe using the lyrics, and/or song titles, as a possibility. But from the list I'd have to say Lady Grey.
Has an elegant ring to it ^~^

you mentioned a wide range of emotions and the pharse: "leaves in the sun" comes to mind as a possible album title. Reason in point is that leaves in the sun falling from a tree are all beautiful in their own way, yet different at the same tiem and from all different kinds of trees and all different weather conditions. This is much like people.

I like the first three you listed.

I wouldn't pick Grimoire.
I mean, you aren't a witch and the album doesn't have anything to do with witchcraft, right?
and I wouldn't pick Box of Moonlight. No, it's fine to adapt a title to your own, but don't you want to be more original then that? And it's funny how you put the statement..."nothin wrong with stealing the title, right?" Stealing is a no no in the real world.

how about:
state of consciousness
an instance of this
cognition
Diary
émouvoir (The English word 'emotion' is derived from the French word émouvoir)
Emotional expression
Empathy
Ecstasy

I dig Fin, Fur and Feather because that's really the only one that describes what you've kind of gone through along with what's going on in the world. Right now America is mixing our "melting pot" vigorously. It sounds like no matter the skin or whatever is on the outside we are all the same. I think that's kind of important right now. Same with emotions. No matter what happens to us and how low we get there is someone else in the world going through the same thing. We are so interconnected in so many different ways.

Lady Grey is my second favorite. Grey or Gray? I kind of did Gray, the Old English way of spelling it. Perhaps Madame Grey... hmm *ponders*

Honestly, I think "Lady Grey" is the least crappy sounding. It's the softest and most appealing to me. potential listeners may not be turned on my anything to do with incantations or something that reminds them of their neighborhood watch program. Even if those are things you "like" or "enjoy" doesn't necessarily mean they make good titles...

That's kind of an abrasive answer, but I think it made sense.

Fin fur and feather sounds like something you learned in Wisconsin. lol. Same with hunter Gatherer.

Just my thoughts.

Seems like a lot of people like "Lady Grey"
