The show, held on the final evening of a series of events at Centro Cultural de Belém in Lisbon honoring the work of the late author/composer Paul Bowles, began shortly after 9pm with a vocal and piano introduction by Robert Gildon (baritone) & Jeff Cohen (piano) playing "Four Songs" ("Letreas de Federico Garcia Lorca e Musica de Paul Bowles"). The Master Musicians of Jajouka featuring Bachir Attar took the stage at approximately 9:30 pm and concluded their performance at approximately 11:30 pm. The show contained a short 15-minute intermission. The Master Musicians were invited out for an encore as well as a curtain call. They featured all three of their ensembles: ghaita, lira and gimbre. The performance was filmed and recorded for future release. Check out the new pics. Photos by Michael Gassert and Ngo Vinh-Hoi.
