one of my wonderful ladies on here forwarded me the "Homicide Girls" profile, and the following in red is one of their blogs. personally, i can't stand the "punk porn" stuff. i see the term "punk porn" as an oxymoron. now, don't get me wrong- i have NOTHING against the girls who are on the site. a woman has the right to do WHATEVER she wants with her body. and the initial idea of suicide girls wasn't a bad thing (cute shots showing that girls of all body types and counter-cultures are just as beautiful as the icky fake-titted bleach-blonde barbie-wannabes). BUT getting paid a couple hundred bucks (which is nothing) to put yourself on a site created so dudes can see you as nothing but something to jack off to under the guise of "female empowerment", while the company is making millions is nothing but fraud and misogyny. and i know that tons of girls subscribe to SG as well as boys... and i like beautiful ladies as much as the next person... but i'm driven by politics, and this shit doesn't sit well with me.
it took women in the punk scene 20 years to be able to stand up and say "stop looking at my tits and listen to what i have to SAY", and actually get equal respect in the "scene". and now the "punk chick look" is no different than "the sexy secretary" or "the naughty nurse". it's no longer taken seriously, and has been whittled down to being nothing but a costume to get dudes riled up. the whole idea behind the female punk movement was demanding equal respect, and not to be seen as just a walking fuck-toy. that original mindset is evaporating.
and if the shitty pay wasn't enough of a slap in the face to the ladies on SG, now the site is fully taking advantage of these girls by selling thier images to any porn site who'll pay... and even if the girls on SG quit the site, SG has the rights to still sell thier images. read the article below. it's pretty terrible, and i feel really bad for the girls on the site who didn't know what they were getting into, and are being taken advantage of. ************************************** the following article is about how much the Suicide Girls website really truly loves their girls and really respects them as "artists". punk fucking rock....
SG now, officially will be selling it photo sets as content to other porn sites: no matter who they are, as long as they pay.
Photo sets that YOU submit...Sg will now sell to anyone...
Just think about it - if you are an SG girl...your photos can now appear on...say... "hot-anal-cum-sluts.com" - anyone with money, now has your photos for their pay site.
This is something to think about. The site selling all those girls photos....for just $500 - http://www.contentpinup.com/ -----------
"ContentBlowout Announces Rights to Sell Suicide Girl Content By Michael Hayes Monday, May 8, 2006
LOS ANGELES, Calif. ContentBlowout.com has announced that it will sell Suicide Girls content in conjunction with Content Pinup.
Jonathan Silverstein of ContentBlowout, who has been retained by Content Pinup to market the 19,000 images of 20 Suicide Girls, had high praise for the coveted brand.
"Suicide Girls is a very popular site," Silverstein told XBIZ. "It's a great brand. To me, those girls are a modern kind of Betty Paige, with tattoos and piercings. They're very hot."
While the announcement has received a great response from buyers, according to Silverstein, there was some initial controversy.
"I think a lot people just didn't believe that this was for real," Silverstein said. "Suicide Girls is very close with its brand, so to have this content is very unique. But it is for real, and people know that now."
In response to negative comments on GFY, Silverstein posted a letter from Paul Loving, attorney for Suicide Girls, addressed to Content Pinup.
"As we discussed," the letter read. "While your access to Suicide Girls content was never intended or contemplated, Suicide Girls acknowledges that Content Pinup has demonstrated that it lawfully obtained the rights to license to third parties a collection of images of Suicide Girls for display on the Internet."
According to Silverstein, the letter stopped the controversy, which he said might have stemmed from previous animosity between webmasters and Suicide Girls.
In 2005, Wired News reported that as many as 30 Suicide Girls models quit over allegations that the company, which has enjoyed a reputation as a female-friendly porn business, had exploited its models. Posts on GFY echoed those claims.
Despite either controversy, the content is selling well, according to Silverstein."
