YVONNE DE CARLO SPENT HER LAST DAYS AT THE MOTION PICTURE FUND IN WOODLAND HILLS FAMILY AND FRIENDS VISITED NOT ONLY TO GIVE COMFORT BUT TO SHOW SUPPORT FOR YVONNE IN AN EVER GROWING DECLINE IN SERVICES AND SUPPORT AT THAT FAMOUS FACILITY
As a witness to the decline of this Motion Picture Hospital in Woodland Hills California ,I have some observations . The Hospital head of staff Dr Tillman was well paid ( I UNDERSTAND HE MADE HALF A MILLION PER YEAR MINUS EXPENSES )and HE REMAINED very inaccesable .
As the fund faltered in maintaining stride with cost ,Extra expense was spent to house Dr Tillman's offices in the Calibasis Commons .Yet he is supposed to raise money , not spend it on keeping distance between himself and complaints .
A doctor at St Jospehs Hospital in Glendale recently looked for the name of David Tillman - HE CAN NOT BE FOUND IN HE NATIONAL ROSTER OF DOCTORS .There are social workers at the MPTVFUND in woodland Hills who bore the title "doctor" in 2004-2005 .One of these individuals was a doctor of philosophy!!!
The second in command was heard BY ME to say at lunch that the whole operation was closing up and he ws giving up and wanted to run bed and breakfast establishments on the central coast . Yet this second in command stayed on !!!!and HE took a wage of 250,000 dollars per year from that time 2004 till now .
It is my impression that the highest levels of the upper staff as well as the board of directors looked out for personal wages and spent time making statements which did not represent the known truth about converting the fund into a money making opertion.
Some belive IT WILL BE AN EXPENSIVE PAY AS YOU GO SENOIR HOME . THE LONG PAST HISTORY OF HOW THIS HAPPENED IS BASIC to all history 1) THE ACTRESS MARY PICKFORD STARTED THE ACTORS HOME AS A LAST VENUE OF LIVING FOR AGED AND POOR DAY PLAYERS.She was wealthy and had the right idea .Help people !! 2) THEN AS YEARS WENT BY ,CONCESSION WERE MADE FOR NON MEMEBER ADMITTANCE . YOU CAN GUESS THAT NEEDS DID NOT KEEP UP WITH FUND RAISING AS EVERYONES RELATIVE BECAME AN EXCEPTION! HENCE THE FUND OPERATES IN A PERPETUAL DEFICT . 3) PAYING MEMBERS OF SAG AND CAMERA UNIONS AND OTHER MEMBER GROUPS PRODUCERS TECHNICIANS AND OFFICE WORKERS OF THE MOTION PICTURE INDUSTRY WERE NOT LET IN ON THE NEGATIVE MATH AND RISING COST OF THE MPTVFUND SYSTEM . NO GROUP EFFORT TO SAVE THE SYSTEM IS POSSIBLE UNLESS YOU PUBLISH REAL REPORTS ! THEN YOU HAVE A HUMAN FACTOR ..... SINCE WHEN DID ANYONE PROMISE THAT ANY FUND COULD BE AN INSURANCE AGAINST HAVING YOUR OWN STRONG FAMILY WITH PEOPLE READY TO HOUSE YOU WHEN YOU ARE OLD ?
THE MOTION PICTURE TELEVISION FUND AS CONCIEVED BY MARY PICKFORD AND GENE HERSHOLT AND YES LET US PLEASE INCLUDE LEW WASSERMAN .THESE PEOPLE REALLY TRIED TO DO THE RIGHT THING .
IT CAN WORK AGAIN -BUT MORE PEOPLE NEED TO BE INFORMED AND PARTICIATING IN THE SOLUTION . The present crew of upper staff who look out for thier high wages and make excuses is all too human . They are not the key flaw . It was an industry of paying memebers hearing only good news . As late as 2004 the MPTVFUND had the vanity to publish an ad paying for actual billboards on well traveled streets .The ad boasted "If they gave academy awards for health care we would win!" This is boastfull pride and blindness .At that very year 2004 the MPtvfund needed to call an emergency meeting of all industry and paying memebers and ask for help in finding a solution . Any one who has thoughts on this is invited to add a few comments . Best Regards Bruce
