Kraftwork. Robert Palmer. 80's Cassette Advertisements. Shiny. Black. Vinyl.
These are some of the words that spring to mind when I think of the video for 'Me Myself and I' that we shot today.

Without a doubt, the hardest video I've performed in. Demanding physically and creatively. This was the first production from Richard's and my company Pixelfing. He directing, me co-directing – Black Lab (Grant Marshall, Tim McGahan of 'Crush 1980Me, Too Close For Comfort, Big Night In) producing. 6 Dancers. A world of green screen. 3 costume changes. All based on a concept Richard and I wrote on a train ride from Leeds to London. Fun, Fun and Fun.

There was a fan the size of a building pushing air and debris (and me) against a wall.
There were hours of meticulous choreography performed by a team of dancers who can only be described as super human. There were clothes to die for (Alexander McQeen, Dior, Pierre Hardy shoes) and a stereo straight out of Back To The Future.

It was such hard work – and much responsibility.
Though Richard started at a director in the theatre, it was his first time directing me and we danced awkwardly around our roles for the first few moments before rolling our sleeves up and getting down to hard work. It was a brilliant collaboration and all involved are sore, exhausted but so so proud.

There will be at least a month of post production work to do on the piece – so it's going to be a while before I can give you an update on the progress. Suffice to say it's such a joy to do absolutely anything I want to.

After a day that began at 5 am and finished at midnight I have just spent the last few hours autographing the remaining 500 cd covers for Newbury Comics in the U.S. Gosh that was a lot of work after today! But they sold out in nanoseconds so I had to do my bit to make sure Powdered Sugar can pay the bills!!

Tomorrow I'm off to B105 in Brisbane (radio station) to do a radio interview at 8 am. Well I guess that's in about 6 hours. Eeek. Then I've got 2 more print interviews and I rush off to the airport to fly home to London, Wally and a gig at the Astoria on the 18th. I love you, but I can not WAIT for the album to come out so I can bloody relax!

I'm off to bed – more from the other side of the world.

500cd? i remember signing 600 xmas cards at work (we wanted to make some cool handmade cards) so i had to write "merry xmas" on each. after 300 i started using not political correct language ;-)) sooo lots of respect for doing that, cause i know how you felt after that 500 ;-)

Oh my gosh Darren, I just don't know how you are managing such a busy schedule these days.....my heart goes out to you! Your efforts of hard work, and lack of rest or sleep do not go unappreciated here. I just want you to know that I am so proud of you!! It's certainly understandable that you will be so glad once the album is released. You, and others have worked so hard on it...the videos, the promoting, etc. Love you so much for putting your heart and soul into all of this!! A hugh 'thanks' to Richard, and the others involved too!

The fact that once again you are sending us a blog when you so desperately need your sleep, and have such a heavy schedule is just one of the many reasons why your fans love and respect you. I know that the album will do well, and I am counting the days to get mine!!

I´m sure when the album is finally out it was all worth it. Luckly I´ll be in London in October so i can buy it. Will help to get you big again, so you have a reason to come to Germany. Can´t wait to see the final result of the video. And rember the good thing on long verry long distance flights is you re able to get a lot of sleep.

Congrats on everything, Darren. We can't wait for the album to come out either! I listen to Ocean & Verge constantly- wish you had released "Who would have thought?" as a single, too! I listen to it all the time too but can't take it in the car or to work and that's not cool!

Oh, Tangent: loved your sign off- have you seen the show "Big Love" on HBO? I think it's fabulous- you can rent all the first season on DVD- if you haven't seen it you should rent the first season and watch the inevitable marathon of the second season which should be in the next few weeks sense it is almost over.

Ohhhhhh... Kraftwerk! That's a magic word for me. Someone told me Florian Schneider invented the vocoder! Or its predecessor. Speech synthesis. Chilly, industrial, very Berlin. More 70s than 80s, but he was probably a decade before his time! ;)

"Absolutely anything I want to..." That's music to my ears. And I so want to see that Dior. LOL!
