Who Gives Kudos:

Every band dreams of getting signed and to actually have it happen is pretty surreal. We couldn’t be happier to be part of the Kirtland Reords family. To be part of a label that has artists like the Toadies, Bush and The Hourly Radio is very, VERY exciting.

Here’s the "official" press release from Kirtland.

April 1, 2008

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Smile Smile signs with Kirtland Records.

Blue Roses gets nationwide re-release.

Kirtland Records is excited to announce that Dallas indie / folk duo Smile Smile has just joined the label’s roster. The first release between the two will be an updated version of Smile Smile’s previously self-released debut cd, Blue Roses.  The new version will include all new artwork, re-mastered songs, a longer version and music video of "Sad Song." Blue Roses will see a national release on May 6, 2008 via Kirtland Records distribution with RED/Sony.  The cd will immediately be serviced to college and specialty radio as well as national press.

Smile Smile’s Ryan Hamilton says "We couldn’t be more excited to be part of the Kirtland Records family. With the label re-releasing Blue Roses the record is finally going to look and sound the way we had always hoped."  Jencey Hirunrusme adds "I’m overjoyed that Kirtland Records has taken on this project so whole-heartedly. Blue Roses has been an album that people seem to instantly embrace and apply to their own lives. I can’t wait for more people to have a chance to hear it."

One of those chances will be with the inclusion of "Anymore," from Blue Roses, in the upcoming film Jack and Jill vs the World starring Freddie Prinze Jr. Jack and Jill opens in theaters nationwide this month and also features the music of Stars, and Rilo Kiley.

For those of you in the Dallas area, catch Smile Smile live at the Mokah Music Summit on April 19. On May 3rd Smile Smile performs live on the Gordon Keith Show.

Congrats! Just heard about this. Sweet. Surprised it didn't happen sooner, honestly.
