Current mood:  optimistic
ladies and gentleman.
super tuesday is upon us.
and we have a responsibility.

this is not a plee to you vote as i vote or do as i do.
(coughcoughbarack!coughcough)

just kidding.....

--well i'm not.

for someone so connected to an organization that's seen as "political" very rarely have i ever laid my personal politics on the line like this.

i mean personally? i've always rode that ever so easy "politicians are full of shit" stance so long that i actually numbed myself of all political activity in the past 5 to 6 years.

none of which has stopped any community work i've been connected to. but when it comes to actual issues that i feel personally effects me, it saddens me that i really don't look to my government for solutions.

"and what issues effect you personally mr-grammy-on-the-shelf-and-all-the-nikes-you can-eat?"

plenty.

i come from the school of "if my brother's life isn't fine then none of our lives are fine".

of course i feel our education system has been out of wack for as long as i've been alive....and the duration of my parents lifetime.---and before that it was damn near illegal for black people to be educated in this very country.

without putting people's business out there---i got people in my organization now whom i've known since they were 8 years old. and the nightmare stories i've heard about concerning their local public schools moved me enough to arrange it so that their parents can use my address so that their children can have access to the "better" schools in the neighborhood (hey--i agree, the day that black people stop using the "by any means even if i break the law to do what i feel is right" method is a day that is long time coming.)-it was worth all the effort put in the arrange such a scheme. it's either watch them die or run after an opportunity to save some lives.

for those of you really in the dark just watch season 4 of The Wire. if THAT shit don't scare you straight then im sorry....you dont have a soul. i've travelled the globe 20 times over in my life and it amazes me the amount of effort that the government puts into its education in other countries. over in france, argentina, norway, and denmark they dont even charge college tuition!!!

most of you people have Phrenology so no need to go through "Water" again and again.

but as a cat who knows mad drug "offenders" i've never agreed with the issues of "jail as rehab" that our government issues time and time again to non violent offenders. for starters you get the same shit in jail as you do in the outside world....so no rehab there.

and the racist double standard of new york rockefeller laws have NEVER gone down smooth with me (basically those caught with crack cocaine powder get harsher sentences than those caught with regular cocaine----in case you live on another planet...crack is a cheaper affordable substance primarily used by people of color--as opposed to the higher echelon white powder substance used by well....need i spell this out?)

pretty much i gotta go through some sort of profiling (albeit not to the level of buff, ny----shit like that happens to me about once every other year.....which already is 14 times too much) with the authorities. it happens so much that i swore the only shit that kept me calm during that whole ordeal was the false premise of "i guess they are just doing their jobs"----shame i gotta lie to myself to keep my sanity. but seriously.....im certain that most white americans dont get anxiety to the near point of instant colonics whenever they see cops in their rear view mirror.....i mean im as straight as 6:00 and i even i feel like a drug cartel making a run if i get behind the wheel with a cop running my plates behind me.

have i been conditioned to just accept that is how life is? and take it?

look i promised i wasn't going to turn this into the "who will ahmir back blog"---

but i know its so easy to dismiss this election as a meaningless process. i mean i dont even know why im doing this.

one day i woke up and i just.....

well i felt inspired.

i heard the words of Senator Obama and i really felt like he was being "REAL" with me. not just saying shit i wanna hear while he lays his own agenda into effect while the wool is pulled over my eyes.

and although im not playing the smear game....i'd wish people would cut the "does he have experiene?!?!? card. all these revisionists are mistaking hill's 8 years as first lady as a sign of experience. meanwhile his list of community services goes above and beyond the call of duty.

---actually im really about to put my money where my mouth is. i went to the los angeles headquarters and volunteered my services. its almost 1am and im finna to drive door to door to put pamphlets and voting information on the doors of the potential voters.

we finally have a chance to truly make a change this upcoming election.

i BEG of you people that are able to vote on super tuesday to vote

please!

(pardon the run on sentances....its been a long day)

now go on!

Title: Obama making less than a quarter of Senate votes (CNN.com)
Sen. Barack Obama has missed the most votes of any Democratic presidential hopeful in the Senate over the last two months, including a vote on an Iran resolution he has blasted Sen. Hillary Clinton for supporting.

Barack Obama has missed 169 votes (37.8%) during the current Congress. (puts him at 4th if you must count the first person on the list, Sen. Tim Johnson, who suffered a brain hemmorage 12/13/06 and has not returned to the Senate.)

Title: Obama Misses Vote On MoveOn -- Right After Voting On Boxer Measure
Barack Obama missed the politically dicey vote today on whether to condemn MoveOn for its ad blasting General Petraeus, according to the vote's roll call. At the same time, however, Obama was indeed present for the vote this morning that came just moments before the MoveOn one.

Title: Did Obama “Skip” The Iran Vote?
The congressional record clearly states that senators were informed that the Kyl-Lieberman amendment would not be coming up for a vote in the near future. The Iran vote is a vote he missed but took a position on.

It’s entirely possible Obama missed the Kyl-Lieberman vote deliberately; after all, he’s on record as being open to bombing Iran.

The issues he did not cast ballots on ranged from the symbolic to the significant, and included measures on abortion, homeland security, bridge safety, foreign aid, the alternative minimum tax and a failed no-confidence vote on Attorney General Alberto Gonzales in June [2007].

“The Senate passed H.R. 2764, a 2008 fiscal year omnibus appropriations bill that provides additional war funding. Sen. Barack Obama voted Not Voting. Even Durbin voted YES on this bill!”

For all his chatter about the importance of healthcare for the some nine million children without health insurance in this country, failing to show up for a “critical” vote on the SCHIP bill reveals all that chatter as just so much empty rhetoric.

The National Taxpayers Union wants him to pay back the portion of his salary for missed votes while campaigning.

F*ck this F*cking Sh!t...

Don't read this fucking shit. Reading is dead. Being smart ain't cool. And freedom is an ancient relic locked away in an archive vault along with poetry, chivalry and physical human interaction. They're being kept alive by life support to be studied, poked, prodded and probed so the future generations may have some sort of idea of the ridiculous ideas we had for ourselves as humans. Please note the sarcasm. Please.

I'm not a quitter, but I must choose my battles.

Although I'm a patriot to my country of the United States of America, I've come to realize that entitlement attitudes, socialistic viewpoints, globalism, corporatism, warmongering, obscene taxation, religious zealotry, bad rap music, TV and foolish consumerism have become an unstoppable juggernaut, leaving no room for human progress towards individual freedom. Individual freedom, although in theory is equally good as a socialist society (which has been proven to not work), is one of the things I feel separate us from most other animals and is in accordance to our nature. Individual freedom is the only applicable action that results in a true pursuit of happiness - a God-given human right, as I believe.

I feel like a healthy battle between socialism and individualism keeps a good balance. But the battle, and perhaps the war (in classic 1984 syle) is about to be lost to the socialist-communists in the name of so-called human progress. Lo! A brave new world is upon us!

Sometimes I look up to the stars and wonder about the bullshit humans think is important. Britney Spears, Paris Hilton, Tickle-me-Elmo. As I watch the clouds move, I know there is more for me, but others must come here to live after me and they must exist for a period of time on Earth. What sort of Earth? What kind must I strive to build?

I'll be honest. I do not believe Ron Paul will win the presidency of the United States. I do not think his supporters will be able to bring on a true revolution of the minds of the masses regardless of what central figure leads it. We are simply too few, it seems. I am not wasting my vote because I'm voting for him. Especially since the other options are the same bullshit. There is no choice of a lesser evil. All things being equal, I'd be better off ignorantly voting for Barack because he's black, just to make racists squirm and slave owners convulse in their graves. But I won't.

Many of us have improperly supported Ron Paul. Fanaticism, conspiracy shit, racist shit, false propaganda shit, screaming, ranting, raving. And I understand why for the most part. We want real change. Real hope. Not just the demagoguery of hypocritical lying politicians. We want honesty, not the business as usual Washington cocksucking motherfucking brainwashing thieving zombie bullshit.

God willing, I am wrong about my next statement, but here it is: America is fucked. Our national sovereignty is fucked. Our economy is fucked. Our reputation and credibility around the world is fucked. Our society has become so stupid and fucked. This war against so-called terrorism is fucked. Our environment is fucked. And we're all terrorized to the point we've become pussies. And pussies get fucked.

And maybe it'll be just chickens coming home to roost. Maybe America deserves to fall. Maybe it's just that it's time is about up. Maybe I'm wrong to stand up for it the way I do. It is not Ron Paul that I support. It is my country and the ideals upon which it was founded. Maybe Colonialism, Manifest Destiny, Slavery, Civil "Wrongs", Imperialism, Racism, Nuking Japan, Invading Iraq, Crack cocaine, sexism and homophobia have all come back to fuck us fucking fucktards in the fuckhole rather fuckly.

Well fuck it, suck it and stick it in your ass, lazy, arrogant American idiots. Damn fucking right I'm mad. Somebody needs to be. I'm not afraid of the future. I'm concerned that we lost control over it way before I was born.

And it's not like it's better in other countries. Clone Zombies are populating the whole gotdamm Earth with their TVs and Electric Slides and sweat shop Air Jordans.

So fuck you very much and have a great fucking day!

prison
profiling
politics

Everyday these thoughts- how to make things better for us ALL- come to my mind.

this is why i have mad love for you.

i've been having so many discussions with people who don't even vote. and its so tedious and stressful. a lot of the times it makes my blood pressure high. I'm fed up, sick of it. I'm still at it with people tho... but just yesterday i got through to someone... and this person is now going to vote (and vote for obama)

i want to be apart of this process.
to be an agent of change.
and if i could change just one persons mind... that person could change someone elses mind etc etc...

"a change is gonna come"
gotta stand up for what you believe in and encourage others who may have thought they were forgotten , don't have a voice, and who don't feel like their vote will even count to do the same.
for a better future. a new belief system. a better viewpoint from around the world. a new way of politics.

"the struggle ain't right up in your face.... it's more subtle
but it's still comin' across like the bridge and tunnel vision
i try to school these bucks... but they don't wanna listen
that's the reason the system makin' its paper from the prison...."

if you stand up for nothing... you fall for any and everything.

PeaCe and Love.
p.s. please make another live album!!!!!!!

Good looking out Quest, Obama's the man we've all been waiting for! Cynics in this instance are like people who still expect their parents to do everything for them, the man's running for President, not God! President is one part of a three headed beast, but I'll feel alot better with the man minding the store! At the very least it'll eliminate some, "black folks cant do..." talk, and it'll let black folks dream a little bit more! Barack wins, and it's the culmination of ALOT of people's work, from W.E.B DuBois, to Jackie Robinson, to Malcom X, to Duke Ellington, to James Brown, to M.L.K, to Afrika Baambaata! I gotta make a political funk mix tape for this...

1. "I Don't Want Nobody to Give Me Nothin"-James Brown
2. "Keep on Pushin"- Curtis Mayfield
3. "You Can Have Watergate (But Gimmie Some BUcks and I'll be straight)- The J.B's
4. "Black Man/You Havent Done Nothin"- Stevie Wonder......

I couldn't have said it all any better! His speeches DO strike a totally different chord in me than past politicians' have. It's easy to say "ya'll just voting for him because he's black" - but that fact doesn't even enter my mind. First and foremost, it's the way he carries himself at his rallies (and outside of his rallies) - the way he carried himself well before all the Presidential talk began. The man is passionate about a change - instead of repeating what "he" will do when he gets in office he makes it known that the PEOPLE will need to get involved when he is president, and that is something I am more than willing to do.

Thanks much for this ?uest - and for all you cynical "I've never voted and never will" types out there (I see some of your posts on this very blog), nothing will EVER change in this government if you spend all your time complaining and not try to do anything about it. I hope you peeps wake up - there ARE people out there who can initiate change, and I truly believe Obama is one of those people.

I have been following this election for months and have been looking forward to this day. However, I was SO involved...that I didn't realize that I wasn't registered in the current county where I reside. When I tried to do so...i found out the process would take 5 weeks...which would not have been in time to vote in this primary.

So I was talking to my best friend and I was telling her...'you know, I wont be voting on Tuesday because I didnt register in time in my county and it will be an all day process to go to the polling place where I am officially registered'. And she was like....'noooo...Felicia...we need your vote' and I was like 'i know...but it cant be helped...I would have to take the day off and I just can't'. And I felt pretty good about my decision. After all, I wasn't being apathetic...I had an excuse.

But the closer it got to this day...the guiltier I felt. I had agonized for months over who I would vote for ( i was one of those black women torn between putting a woman or a black man into the White House)...but when I started looking more at the issues and less at trying to make history....I decided that Obama was who I wanted more. And I wanted to be heard. I wanted CHANGE.

So...I went to my states website (GA) entered my info and found my polling place. I went to MapQuest to get directions and its 50 MILES away from where I live, which means...i will spend the same amount in GAS just to get there. I was thinking about Mos Def when he was on Bill Maher suggesting that people should be able to vote in the same place that they buy their lottery tickets..LOL!

OK...I gotta go now. I have to practice my sick voice so I sound convincing when I call out today. SEE YOU AT THE POLLS!!

I'm sure that being real in the goverment process is a thing of the past. To look at a horizon of war and marshal law is becoming more real then resolving anything wrong in this country. The election process has become the WWE ring of whos gonna get control of the money. Frankly I don't believe anyone anymore. I do know that laws were set in place (not voted by congerss) directly from our king to take away all of our known freedoms. We as humans are about to be called on to look past color, gender and faith to step up and make a choice. Not to sound like a sci-fi movie but may the force be with you all. Chose wisely.
