Wow, there alot going on. Busy is quite the understatement at the moment. About a month or so ago I took on a huge task. I had decided that I was going to have a live auction at Sea Otter to raise money for my road to recovery fund. The mountain bike industry has completely overwhelmed me with support with product to auction/raffle off and every single pro male or female that I have contacted to see if they might want to donate something have completely stepped up and in some cases really surprised me with what they wanted to donate. I had a very specific idea in my head and it was going to be awesome (that one is for you Hels)! The idea for the auction is "one-offs". Just to give you an idea..Eric Carter’s 2006 National Championship 4x bike Steve Peat’s signed uniform, Tracy Moseley’s UCI World Cup leaders jersey, Kirt Voreis 2005 Haro helmet, and also some unreal photos of me from photographers around the globe.
So I got the ball rolling with phone calls, faxes, emails, texts, smoke signals, you name it I did it. Once I got somethings going and they were falling into place I was pretty stoked. Yeah, well that didn’t last very long. After a couple week of putting things together all of a sudden things came to a bit of a hault because of venue issues and whatnot. You see I need to make sure that after paying for a venue, bar, lighting, etc. that I make a few dollars. On top of the venue issues I was losing alot of sleep. I was getting up for my therapy at 6 am and wasn’t getting back until sometimes 2 pm, which made things even more difficult. I started feeling tired all the time, irritable, and just stressed and it was driving me bananas. So as of yesterday I made the executive decision to not have my auction AT Sea Otter. As much as I’d like to it’s just stressing me out waaay too much and right now that is the last thing I need. And you know what....as soon as I decided not to do it there it was as if a weight had been lifted and I felt like I could breathe. I am STILL going to have the auction, but I have decided to do the entire auction online. That way I don’t have to deal with a venue, weather, etc. and there is more time to bid. Instead of 3 days I’ll have the auction over the span of 2 weeks. I will have photos of all of the items at Otter and I’ll even have some of the items with me at Sea Otter. Also, I will hopefully have most of the photos of the items on my new web page at
Go211.com.
Speaking of
Go211.com , I just signed with them a few weeks ago and am really happy to be part of their every growing athlete family.
Go211.com and I were talking before my accident and even though I’m not riding right now they still want to back me and be there through my whole process of getting back on my bike. They have 5 million unique visitors a month and growing. So I believe as of either this Friday or Monday of next week I will no longer have a myspace site and everything will be transfered over to my Go211 site. All of my blogs, entries, pictures, videos, etc. will be transfered so you won’t miss a blog! Pretty sweet, huh.
So there it is. A fantastic auction with pieces from the fastest racers in the world and my new signing with Go211.com. Stay tuned for more auction info and if for some reason you don’t see anything on my myspace please go to
Go211.com - tara llanes site.
Thank you all for the continuing support. More videos and blogs to come!
Cheers!
