True...

HOLLYWOOD REPORTER ARTICLE

"Mary Elizabeth Winstead is in negotiations to star opposite Michael Cera in Universal's "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World." Edgar Wright is directing the adventure romance.

In "Pilgrim," Winstead will play the dream woman of a young slacker (Cera). But the only way he can win her heart is by battling and defeating her seven evil ex-boyfriends.

The project is based on the Oni Press graphic novel "Scott Pilgrim Volume 1: Scott Pilgrim's Precious Little Life," written by Bryan Lee O'Malley. Michael Bacall and Wright wrote the screenplay."

Yes, the dreamy goddess that is Mary Elizabeth Winstead will play the dreamy goddess that is Ramona Victoria Flowers.

I can't think of a more perfect person for this role.

False...

"Edgar Wright is directing the adventure romance..."

Well, I am definitely directing, but am not sure about the 'adventure romance' bit.

Makes it sound like FOOL'S GOLD or something.

Don't quite know where this comes from but it's not summing up Bryan Lee O' Malley's masterwork in quite the same succinct fashion as the 'rom zom com' did for SHAUN.

I must think of a more perfect pithy description for this film.

It's a fight movie. It's a date movie. It's...

I'll get back to you.

Anyway Winstead is in.

Very cool indeed.

I think someone's got a wee bit of a crush on Mary! You did play a song for her on Edgar's Eggbox, as I recall.

Awwww! ;0)

I remember how sweet and unassuming she was on the first night of The Wright Stuff. She's perfect.

Just to clarify - the film's based on all the books, and not just "Precious Little Life" right? If so, nice confusing journalism from the Hollywood Reporter.

Have to admit I've only read the first, and was a bit underwhelmed - do they get better?

again, i'm so glad you're around to set these things straight.

somehow i missed out on the phenom that is Scott Pilgrim. that's saying something from an old-ish comics geek like me. i must say that you've stepped up my timetable in purchasing the series and of course seeing the film. :)

Personally, I'm always stoked to see Michael Cera in anything, so the idea that he'll be working with you this time is just mind-boggling. I might need some time to recover from just the idea of it.. (sidenote: saw Juno recently, nothing short of amazing. 3 cheers for Diablo Cody.)

there is a fricken street called Pilgrim on my way home and it reminds me of this project every time, so for my sanity... make it asap!

Fuck, I could not be more excited for this film. I was trying to cast Ramona in my head and you absolutely nailed it. Also, Winstead is very very hot, I think I fell in love with her in Death Proof.

The Listening to link is the track on Frank Black's album 'I heard Ramona sing'! Do I win a prize?

The "Frank Black" album rules.

Upon seeing the subj line of "Mary, Mary..."
the next thing that came to mind was "why ya buggin'".

I'd say the first and second album rules.

"Mary, Mary" reminds me a bit of Pixies Doolittle track "Hey!";

"and Mary ain't you tired of this uh is the sound that the mother makes when the baby breaks we're chained, we're chained"

but you're right on with Run DMC.

Oh and there is also a song from the flying Burrito bros called "To Ramona"...

I'm not familiar with the material, but I have to say that as soon as I read the 1-sentence description on IMDB, I knew I had to see this film. Yours, Michael Cera's, and Mary Elizabeth Winstead's involvement just furthur solidifies the fact that I will be at the movie theater on the day it opens.

It's looking awesome. I can't wait!

And my friend will be happy. He's a massive Mary fan. When we went to see Transformers the Die Hard 4.0 trailer played and he called out "OH MY GOD! THIS IS THE MOVIE MARY'S IN!". Hopefully he won't do it every time we see the Scott Pilgrim trailer.

Winstead has been a star in waiting since Sky High, I love that Deathproof was a reunion for her and Kurt. Now if you can get Bruce Campbell in the Scott Pilgrim film, even if he isn't age appropriate.
