Imagine you're nine years old riding a bike around your childhood neighborhood. Remember that one hill that was "the hill" (if you're from Texas please click this link for help). You had heard stories about that kid 'Michael Something' years ago that fell riding his bike down that same hill, almost killing him, and suffered road rash that left him in bed for three weeks. He ended up transferring schools across town because of the deformities, then tried to strangle a teacher, which ended up in a tour of juvenile correctional facilities, ultimately forcing him to never be heard from again … yeah, that hill.

What do you do? You and your straggly almost double-digit group of friends sure as hell try to ride your bike down that same hill. Why? Its that split second when you're at top speed knowing that something could go seriously wrong, and the bike is shaking as control does its best to join Gravity and Pavement's team … your adrenaline spikes and you say quickly in your head "OH (insert capitalized expletive here)!!!" But you pull it out and sail smoothly down the now flat street … we live for those split seconds when it could all go wrong but the Superman trigger flips in your head and you somehow by the grace of (insert your choice of supreme being here) make it out alive.

Last Friday in LA at Room 5, I thought we were going for a nice bike ride acoustic guitar style with the boys … but we ended up riding down the 'Michael Something' hill thanks to a guest drummer ... and it was all worth it.
