Isn't it ridiculous that we have to waste unmentionable amounts of time and millions of dollars debating something as purely simple as human rights?

Didn't we get past this with....oh, Jim Crow, Votes for Women etc etc...?

Like this year, we finally beat Racism only to realize that Homophobia reigns supreme...

People are too dumb to realize the difference between MARRIAGE (a legal ceremony) and Matrimony (whatever your God feels is marriage..). Makes me sick....

We are battling in favour of gay marriages in Greece too... I hope someday the whole world realises we are living in 2008 and not in the 30s!

Way to Go Courtney!

You'd be adorable in any outfit, dahling, but your words, and your music, and your support, and your pure existance is quite enough as a remedy for the backlash!

You're unique, and you're right there, on the top of OUR world.

I just realized that "Stand up motherfucker" could be used as an anthem in this matter. The magic with your lyrics/poems are that they are written in your spirit, and could be interpreted into many different moods, the genious about them are the possibility to sparkle in everybody's life.

For god's sake, they don't want same sex marriage to "protect" the nuclear families, and they treat widows with contempt????

Did anyone smell the double standards?

the real question is, COULD you wear a giant butt plug?

this dude named john ridley wrote a really interesting piece in the huffington post about people trying to ban interracial marriage back in the day and how they used pretty similar arguments, and how gays and friends of gays need to take the same approach to equal rights as minorities did - he says basically, fight.

the article, in case you wanna read it is here - http://www. huffingtonpost. com/john-ridley/obama-wins-and-so-does-fe_b_142213. html

That's discriminatory, Courtney! Butt Plugs are for everyone.
They are unifying!

:snicker:

I don't live in Cali. I didn't get to vote. But I am an evil Christian Pseudo-Republican (ducking from objects thrown) and I would have voted "NO". I don't think it's the Gov.'s job to say who can marry and who can't. America means I can't oppress you and you can't oppress me. Prop 8 is just a way for me to try to hold you to a Christian standard. That's not fair.
Living as a Christian is a choice!
Forcing someone into religious obedience goes against everything Jesus would stand for.

And having the Gov. all up in your personal life goes against everything that a Republican is supposed to stand for.

It's sick hypocrisy!
So know you all have at least this Christian is on your side.

Ha thats funny the Lunachicks song buttplug. Prop 8 is bullshit. Arizona, Arkansas, and Florida all voted gay marriage bans. Arkansas put it a step further to not let gay couples adopt any children? And my state ohio voted a ban on gay marriage not too long ago. Fuck all this shit! It's the Christian right putting fear in America is what it is. We got past the race thing with Obama being elected(thank god) now we got to get past this homophobic thing.

The good news is the protests have been widespread and quite loud, Courtney just being one of them. I feel good knowing she's on our side: when it comes to making a really loud noise and getting people to PAY ATTENTION, there's no one better.

That was what we DIDN'T HAVE. Everyone was distracted by the presidential race. Not enough people were PAYING ATTENTION to Prop 8. THAT'S why it passed.

And look on the bright-side, now that it's in place, we can fight against it. As loudly as we damn well please.

It was once illegal for inter-racial couples to marry too. It was written into several state constitutions. We'll have our day, but we gotta work for it.

gay marriage is such a good thing for the gays as well as the straights. I don't think people realize the pain it causes a gay and a straight person to be in marriage together .They are both so unhappy and it hurts so many lives because every body eventually comes out even if they do it at 50. The unsuspecting straight spouse is a victim too it denies them of finding thier true love. It denies both people happiness. If they don't pass gay marriage it will result in Marraige of convieniences like the one I mentioned above resulting in Mass Divorces like there were in the late 70's early eighties.
