Current mood:  awake
Hi Folks.  Two new things for today.  One is that we have uploaded a new song to our Myspace page. It’s a demo version of a song that will appear on our forthcoming album.  As I have stated in a previous blog, our new album will be out most musically diverse album to date.  The new song "Wolf at Your Door" is not our slowest song or our fastest song, but it is quite different from what we have done in the past and it stands as an example of the kind of diversity that will be included in this release.

The second piece of news is that we are seeking new label representation.  We have been very pleased to have worked with both Listenable Records and Unique Leader Records in the past.  We appreciate all they have done for us.  Unfortunately, things change, artists and labels don’t see eye to eye on various issues and parting ways is sometimes inevitable.

The Internet has become the new way that music is discovered and promoted and the old ways of selling music are coming to an end. Because Vile has 12 years of development time behind us to stand on, we no longer need the same kind of label representation that we desired in the past.  Now we seek a business relationship with a company or companies that are embracing the internet as the new medium for music promotion and distribution, are excited about the future and have the energy and vision to stand with a band like Vile who is daring enough to challenge the extreme metal status quo.  Unfortunately, Internet only promotion is not yet possible so we seek a label or labels who also have their tentacles into the old distribution system as well.

Change is not easy for artists or business people.  But if change is not embraced, death will follow.  Vile seeks to change before extreme metal reaches an absolute dead end.  We feel that if bands and labels do not start to step out of the box and offer something truly new, they will become extinct like the dinosaur.  Many will say that they are providing something new, but we all know very well that this scene is stuck and if people do not offer something drastically new and improved, it will die.  Its time for major change in this industry, and Vile seeks to work with a record label or labels who have the vision to accomplish something truly new and invigorating and the experience to get it done right.  Interested parties, please contact Colin Davis through the Myspace page with "label interest" or similar in the subject line. www.myspace.com/vile

Well sorry but you seem to be in the minority of commenters so far. Unfortunately, a band cannot grow and diversify and please everyone. Of course the final recording will be much better as this is just a pre production demo version. But yes, we will have all of these elements in the album. Sorry youre not happy. I cant live my life worried about that though.

Excuse me Colin but I think that this new song or new way to play your music is more different than past. You have explain your reasons, but for me became a sad memory. I don't want offensive, but why you not change the name of the band if this would be a new journey?
Anyway, I want regard you for all you have done for this kind of Musik and for my ispiration. With my band we cover Alive to Suffer, and this is our price to Vile's devotion. I hope you understand my words.

Yes I'm sorry, but those old songs like Alive to Suffer are not my kind of music anymore. We will never go back to that. If the music was not extreme metal anymore, I would change the name. But it is still Vile. We still have the groove, low vocals, fast double bass, etc. So it's not smart to change the name. To change the name would be to start all over again. That is not something I want to do and I feel that the new music is still Vile. Its just not the Vile that the old school fans will like. But I always make the album that I want to hear myself. I have to please myself first. There are other bands that will play the old Florida style. We are just not one of them anymore. Sorry. I am happy that so many people do like the new sound. But unfortunately, some will not like it. That is natural.

Yeah, sure you play what that you prefer hear by your self, this is the first, true thought for every musicians. I understand your point of view, but I think there are some fans/comments not sincere. You have write, for more of us, a piece of World-wide way to play Brutal Death Metal, and I pay my tribute with my actual or future creations (I hope). But there are no problems. I prefer Vile follow the true way to play your music rather that ugly copy of Depopulate...
In the history of the music there are always changes and maybe it's a good think. However you have write in my skin whit Vile musik...

Yeah I know what you mean. We will have a little of everything. But its not going to be New Age II or anything. Got to stay fresh and avoid getting bored you know? Theres not too much that has not been done before so I'm making an effort to push the limits and to stay fresh.

Thanks I agree. Got to keep moving. We'll see what happens. Probably going to release it myself and then find a licensing deal. Seems like the best option, but I'm open.

Hey i love vile and dont mean any disrespect but a couple slow breakdowns with wispering and tecno bass drum thing some church sounding opera deal is hardly revolutionary i understand staying fresh keeps ya wanting to play but hang with what got ya where you are and try to build on that if the hole album is this and ya think its gonna make our put you in some kinda different realm our like your inventing somthing that hasent been done i would say ya think just a bit much of yourself and i know that my spelling and all my puncuation sucks so if thats somones comeback to what ive said fuck off later brandon white

No thanks, that's boring in my mind. Got to move on. You only heard one song anyway. All of them are different.

Also what bands are making songs like that anyway? Compare that to the amount of bands making Florida style death metal. Sheesh.... Doing the same shit over and over is what makes bands break up and lose audience. Maybe you wont like the new album, but there will be many more who will. Also, I cant make music for you guys anyway, I do it for me.

Demonic Rebirth

I totally agree that churning out the same collection of tunes album after album will only lead to stagnation, which has happened to many of my favorite death metal bands(i.e. the new Deicide, for example). I also agree that you need to make music that makes you happy first & foremost. I would only suggest that what most of those opposed to your apparent new direction are saying is that it is important to retain the essence of the band whilst exploring new territory; nothing is worse than a band completely turning its back on its old fans(Metallica comes immediately to mind). I think the new tune is pretty good overall, I personally find the chanting style vocals in the middle somewhat overdone(ala latter era Bathory) but I for one look forward to hearing the new album, and applaud you for wanting to continue to grow & ultimately escape the pool of stagnation that sadly much of our beloved heavy music has become!

Right on, thanks. Appreciated. Yeah, that song is the only one with the chanting we will have. And the only one with the techno part too! haha. Each song has a different vibe. I have a 10 songs each at 10 different tempos too. Its not like the same song over and over. I know what you mean about Metallica. Those guys completely lost the ability to make music. This new music is still Vile, its still extreme metal. Its just more varied. Remember all the classic bands like Zeppelin, Sabbath, etc? Every album was totally different from the one before. But each one retained the band's essence. Same here.
