ARE YOU GUYS REALLY HERE FOR THE MUSIC? OR THE FAME, LOOK, MONEY, CHICKS? MUSIC TODAY IS REALLY SHALLOW

KRISTINE- Absolutely 100% we are in this for the music. I totally get where you're coming from.

If we were in it for $$$ I'd have quit along time ago. I've spent more $$$ creating music than I've made from it. Well, its actually about even. As for fame and chicks, well fame to us means more people knowing about us and our songs, so I guess you could say we want that. Chicks arent really on my agenda or menu though. Lol. Ask the guys that.

JAY- For me, the songs were always there, in my head. I just let them out through the keys. Sometimes it's like it's not even me playing, something is guiding my hands. I know that sounds crazy, but it's true. Like Kristine said, I want fame to the extent that it means the most people possible have given us a chance. Not to party with Paris Hilton or any bullshit like that. Chicks are on the agenda, just dont tell that to my wife! Lol. Oh well I can still look.

DREW- Yes we are about the music first. Yes, we all have families, and those families need to be supported. So yes, we do want a career, and to make SOME money, to survive. That (making money) is a system of survival that existed way before I came into this world. I didnt create it, but I have to deal with it, what choice is there? Be a street rat homeless fuck? You cannot escape needing money to have a decent, exciting life. BUT....the music has to have integrity, and we have to be able to live with it. Money is the reward, not the driving force.

RAN D- I have to make money some way. Id rather it be through music than Taco Bell. For bands who say we dont want to earn a dime off our music, its all about art only- FUCK YOU. You still get money somehow, either a job, your mom, or your pimp. And Im fairly certain GUITAR CENTER or SAM ASH didnt donate the instruments and amps you use for free. YOU BOUGHT THEM! And with what? Lint from your smelly jelly belly? No, MONEY. Rock and roll is a money taking, costly hobby to have. It takes a lot of money just to SOUND GOOD. Gear, PA, Vehicles, gas money, etc..So dont tell us money isnt important at all to you. Bands who say that are lying to themselves.

KRISTINE- If selling out equals making money, than it doesnt matter what you do for a living. Taking a job at House of fucking Pancakes is selling out, according to this ridiculous belief. The minute you earned a dollar, you SOLD OUT. Its so stupid. God forbid you have an option to make money actually doing something you ENJOY. Are you only supposed to make money doing shit you hate? Whats wrong with having a choice as to how you earn money? It doesnt demean the music if people like it enough to want to purchase it. We don't change what we do for anyone but ourselves. People can take it or leave it, but what they take or leave is honest. We play from our hearts, we really feel it, we really mean what we create.

JAY- And as she said before, we put what we earn right back into the band. We spend as much as we earn. We dont like a lot of things other people buy ( Cars, trucks, home entertainment systems, DVDs, movies, gambling, etc)our own music is our vice, and our bad habit to spend money on. Its asinine to me that some people sneer at us for spending money on a waste of time like our own band/music.

Look at it like this. Lets say last year, we spent $2,000 on recording some songs. Take the average person, and in that same year, they probably spent that same amount on BUYING OTHER PEOPLES CDS. Or if not CDs, there was something they spent that amount on simply for entertainment pleasure. Not to stay alive. Why is that not considered a waste of money? Let me get this straight- spending cash on OTHER PEOPLES MUSIC= ok, common, cool, the consumerist way. Spending money on YOUR OWN MUSIC= crazy, irresponsible, waste of time and money, delusional dreaming. What the fuck? It makes no sense.

DREW- We dont tell you how to spend your cash. We dont tell people not to buy new tires and rims for their car. So dont question what we spend our money on. It just so happens to be our own original music we spend it on. We feel its more than worth it, and the music deserves it. It deserves a lot more actually. I wish we had MORE MONEY to spend on our recordings. I dont want a mansion; I dont want 10 Mercedes Benzs. I want to be in the studio. I want to make it just to have the opportunity to record the music better, at a top notch studio. To hear our songs be the best they can be. That is the main reason we even want a record deal at all. If thats not caring about the music, I dont know what is.

RAN D- That is why we get so mad to hear these rich, successful major label bands complain. Its like dickhead, do you realize how lucky you are? Forget about the money and the fame and the chicks. YOU GET TO RECORD IN THE BIGGEST, MOST EXPENSIVE STUDIOS IN THE WORLD! ON SOMEONE ELSES BUDGET! WITH THE BEST PRODUCERS THE BUSINESS HAS TO OFFER! YOU GET TO TAKE UP TO A YEAR OR MORE DOING IT. You can basically sound however you want, with no time, financial, or technical shortcomings. WE PRAY FOR THAT DAY WE GET THAT LUXURY. Shut the fuck up and move aside, let a more humble appreciative band in there if youre gonna bitch.

You have to be able to recognize when youve won the game. The Lakers celebrate, not complain when they win. If you cant see that, youll never be happy. A signed band with hits and sales has won the game. Then youre gonna gripe that you have to be on a schedule and do interviews? Dipshits man.

IS YOUR IMAGE A KEY TO GAINING POPULARITY? IS IT A CRY FOR ACCEPTANCE?

DREW- Look at me. People say Im a fucking pirate all the time. Why would I think an eye patch would help break the ice with people? Warm them up to us, make us more acceptable? Its not calculated.

You think people accept me wearing this? You think it's cool, and people dig it? No way. I get a lot of shit for it, and for making music. People around me tell me to get a 'real' job all the fucking time. You have got to be strong, ruthless, and literally not give a shit what anyone thinks or says. People will tell you to give up. If you care what they say, you might as well not even try.

To be fair, there are women who like the patch. Ive been told its sexy. LOL. Whatever, Ill take that over the jokes any day though. For the record, I wear the patch for medical reasons, not for fashion.

JAY- I'm married. Believe me, my wife's parents do not approve of my band or my image. Do you think I put up with the hatred to get paid? Money is nice, but its not enough to withstand being made fun of and threatened on a daily basis. There has to be something deeper, a sense of self to go through with this shit. I love this lifestyle, I love music. I have to play, there is no option. And you know what they say, that which youre loved for is also what youre hated for.

RAN D- What makes you with some people is the very thing that breaks you with others. The image is a blessing and a curse. To those who dig it: GOOD NEWS! Its not changing. To those who hate it: BAD NEWS! Its not changing.

JAY- My hair is either the fucking most ridiculous, stupidest shit anyones ever seen, or its the mother fucking coolest shit theyve ever seen. There is no in betweens. That is what were about, in our music and image:EXTREMES. We knock on the door, grab you by the throat and say Were here! We have arrived. Now that youve heard of us, try and forget us. You wont.. And were not marketing geniuses. Extremism isnt a new concept. If you look at the history of rock, even of all music, its always been like that. The bands who stood out and the ones who made a big splash are the ones you still talk about 20 years later.

We dont want to be the band that is Hmmm, Darvoset. Yeah, THEYRE OK. We want to be either Hmmm, Darvoset. Those fuckers fucking suck more than a leech on a crack whores lactating tit or Hmmm, Darvoset. Those bastards are like nothing Ive heard, and they kick fucking ass.

If you love us, that was the idea. If you hate us, that was the idea.  Just decide if youre the left or right nut. There is always a dick in the middle. What the fuck does that mean? LOL. Oh well there is an analogy in there somewhere. LOL.

KRISTINE- Its a choice of: Play, and be fulfilled, or: Dont play, and be miserable. Ill choose the happiness in life, thank you very much. I was made to do this, and it's my destiny, win lose or draw. Just as a Lion has no choice, it has to hunt and kill to survive. It doesnt question it, it doesnt think twice. It gets down to some bloody ass fucking killing.

RAN D- To sum it all up, I don't play the kind of music I play or look how I look to be accepted. If anything, it causes me to be REJECTED. But I don't care, it's who I am, and if people don't like my look or my sound, then they don't like ME.

JAY- This is not a stage act, or a pose that I will drop when Im 50. Im not David Bowie playing a character I will change again and again. I will never look back and be embarrassed of what I played and how I did my hair. If I change, it will be because Im bored with myself, not some kind of pressure to conform. Between my wife and Is incomes, I never have to worry about applying for a job that would tell me how to look. Im independently well off. So I almost owe it to the oppressed who desperately wish they could dress how they want (but who cannot due to work) to stay true to myself.

Im very lucky and I know it. No one tells me what to do, no one has any power or control over me. Except normal shit, like the cops. And the wife. LOL. I mean in terms of how I decide I want to look. No one can take anything away from me, there is no consequences for wearing makeup. That rocks.

I just hope I never have to go to prison or jail. LOL. Im sure theyd love me in there. Id shave my head quicker than a jackrabbit fucking a hot date.

The only time I even remotely feel any pressure to clean up is at my kids school. Sometimes the teachers are uncomfortable, and the kids will talk shit to my kids. But a lot of them love it too. My kids, like me, get extreme reactions. Its either Your dad is soo cool, youre lucky to have such a cool dad. Or, its My dad said your dad was a faggot, and is a bad influence on you. What can you do? There are bigots everywhere. What if this was 1906, and I was black married to a white woman? Fuckers would be talking their prejudiced shit there too. What if I was a gay parent?

I can actually identify with gays and blacks a lot. I know I have a choice that they do not, (I can stop being what I am, they cannot) but I understand the stares, the whispers, and the hatred that people can show you.  And the phoniness. When the nuclear bomb drops, there will still be cockroaches, Cher, Aerosmith, and racists/bigots.

The best revenge is successful kids. Mine are doing great so far, and well see how little Jimmy Asshole will be. It would be ironic if the freaks kid goes on to cure cancer, while the kid from the proper, normal family is the next Charles Manson.

IS THERE A TIME WHEN YOU WILL QUIT MAKING MUSIC?

IS THERE A CUT OFF AGE?

KRISTINE- At what age should a person stop being their race? At what age should they stop loving their parents? At what age should they stop having sex? At what age are you no longer a parent to your children? These are just intrinsic things you are, and love to do. No there is no cut off age or any shit like that. We will stop when we are sick of each other, or we are dried up and out of ideas. It will be our decision, not anyone elses.

JAY- Music is like sex. If you can still physically perform, enjoy it, and do it well, why should you ever stop? If I can fuck into my 70s and 80s, Im gonna. Im not gonna be saying to myself at 75 years old, this is pathetic. Im too old for sex, I should stop. Its the exact same policy as playing baseball, running, dancing, aerobics, and music. If you still can, DO IT.

There are things I will have to do till the day I die. Things I dont like and dont want to do. Like taking a shit, and wiping my ass. That is an unpleasant thing. A burden and a negative. You better believe Im gonna balance that out with keeping music in my life! Doesnt a thing like music deserve to be with me as long as taking a dump? I will go to the grave shaving my beard and taking craps, and I will go to the grave playing music. Deal with it.

DREW- You have to have your joys in this life. Dont let anyone take them from you. Otherwise, its basically birth, school, work, death. And taking shits all along the way. LOL.

DO YOU GUYS GET A LOT OF HATERS IN ADDITION TO YOUR FANS?

HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT PEOPLE WHO HATE?

JAY- Some people are gonna hate me based on my style, just as some people will hate Mexicans based on their race. Fuck it; its their misery, not mine. It must feel like shit to feel that kind of hate all the time, based on absolutely no threat to the hater. These kinds of people really hate themselves, and need to belong to a hate group to tell them over and over again- You matter. Youre important. Youre superior. You can do it! Its like a fucked up cheer leading squad. Then they place blame on others for their own shortcomings. You didnt fail, the JEWS ARE KEEPING YOU DOWN! Its a fucking joke. A superior person wouldnt need a pat on the back or encouragement from anyone. They wouldnt have this childish need to belong to something.

KRISTINE- And I don't waste my time on people who hate me. I'd rather pay attention to those who believe in and support me.

Hate me all you want. While Im recording, touring, and basically enjoying my life, youre still 38 years old, living in mamas basement, no pussy in sight, on your little internet typing (badly!) and spreading your hatred. I guess superior people are people with no goals of their own, who shit on others goals.

RAN D- And to the people who complain that we need to get out of it (music) and act like a grown up, well, what the fuck have you ever done? What have you achieved? You mean you GO TO WORK? Wow, you and 200 million other people. How unique. How special.  I mean, unless youre a CEO or a heart transplant surgeon, (things that took hard work and intelligence, not to mention a good supply of money) the fact that you make $30-$60,000 a year is not that great. Stop being so proud of yourselves, and trying to make everyone like you.  Dont shit on individuality.

Chances are you hate your job, wife, kids, car, and life. You probably even hate what you earn. Probably feel its not enough, that youre worth more. Yet, Darvoset should stop what makes us happy, and join the frustration club youre a member of. You waste energy trying to change people (such as Darvoset) who mean nothing to you and who youve never met. Act like a grown up? -Judging others, starting wars, hating anything different, working a thankless job till youre 70 or die, spending time forcing people to think/act/be like YOU If thats a grown up, Im glad to say I never will be.

DREW- People who take the time to hate on a band is like the dude well see on TV someday with a shot gun taking out random people, then turning it on himself. If youre sooo happy and successful, if your way of life is so right, and ours so wrong-why are you so miserable? Why would we want to be like you?  Perhaps you should change YOUR OWN LIFE, get your fat wife to the gym, and worry about how your kids turn out, and NOT US. Were doing fine, thanks for your concern. (Sarcasm)

ARE MUSICIANS BORN, OR CREATED?

KRISTINE- Musicians are born, not made. You either got "it' or you don't. Now, pop stars can be made, created, but as you know, very few pop stars are actually musicians. Most are good looking mediocre singers who can dance and got lucky. Britney Spears is not a musician. I don't care how much money she makes, she's a joke. I have zero respect for her and her crappy music others put together for her to poop on. And there are tons more like her out there. Darvoset has no interest in being like that.

DO YOU BELIEVE YOUR MUSIC WILL BECOME THE NEXT BIG THING?

DREW- Do you really think we believe our type of music is gonna replace rap? Or hard rock as the biggest selling shit? Dude we're smart, were aware. We make music not all people are going to like, we know that. If we wanted instant fame and to be fast millionaires, we'd find a young hot 16 year old slut, dress her up, and have her sing songs about sucking dick. That's what the formula is these days. Being we play what we do shows we believe in this kind of music.

RAN D- And why would we make dark music? You don't hear that on the radio, you hear happy jingly jangly bullshit. We like great pop, like Duran, Depeche, Tears For Fears, Bee Gees, ABBA, Elvis, Madonna, Beatles, etc..... but todays' music doesn't even compare to those greats. So now and then we may have a song that isn't all that dark, but it will never be throw away, disposable superficial filler shit like radio today.

ARE YOU GUYS A BAND FROM THE 80S?

YOU SOUND LIKE YOU COULD BE

KRISTINE- No, we aren't a band from the 80's who reunited. lol. We have only been around 3 years, one and a half with the electronic lineup.

Great interview guys! I agree with what you said. I'm going into cosmetology because I love it. I love being creative whether it's through make up, hair, writing, photography, shit, making candy even! I want to make money doing what I love. I don't go into it to be filthy rich. I never saw myself working behind a desk, watering plants, and getting coffee for the boss all day. I know, just like you guys, I'm here to do something awesome. I LIKE waking up in the morning happy to go to school. I want to live off something I love. Not making millions off something I hate. Anyway, think of the wonderful legacy you'll be leaving your families someday.
