I don't know about you, but a taco stuffed with egg and bacon is not exactly what I crave at 6 a.m. But, apparently that's what the Food R&D reps at Taco Bell think I might like.
The Irvine, Ca.-based Mexican fast food chain is Thinking Way Outside the Bun by testing eight new breakfast items in four U.S. markets. The morning grub is now being offered in Fresno, Nebraska, Ohio and Arizona. A Taco Bell rep told the Maven today that he doesn't know which items will be popular enough to earn a permanent spot on the chain's menu -- thus the test in those areas.
Other than the taco/egg/bacon, here's some more items to ponder: A sausage and bacon grilled stuft burrito, a guacamole bacon grilled stuft burrito, a bacon and egg crunchwrap, cinnamon toastadas, a southwest sausage burrito, an egg bean and cheese burrito, Bell breakfast potatoes and Tropicana orange juice.
Prices range from 79 cents to $2.79. The breakfast items in those four test markets will be available from 6 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. only. Sorry. I guess you're outta luck if you desire an eggy crunchwrap at midnight.
