For two years I have been working on a campaign to have our country apologize for the heinous acts of slavery. I have written to all the Presidential candidates to try to instill a desire to correct this injustice.
Today, I am reminded by reading an article that Toni Morrison, Nobel Laureate, had a memorial service over the weekend at Sullivan's Island in South Carolina. This is the place that 12-15 million Africans came to be slaves. This is the part of our history that should not be forgotten. I am trying to campaign for at least a million signatures of Americans who feel that this apology is long overdue. Then I would like to present it to the President of the United States in the hopes that Congress will act on this resolution.
Anyone who shares my belief on this subject please send me your names and email addresses.
We will show the world that the strongest nation is capable of humanity.
