PRESS RELEASE for the unOfficial Fringe Late Nite CAbaret 2008
-

This year marks the 12th annual Fringe Festival in Philadelphia
Many, many artists (and arts-supporters) have fought for the past 11 years to maintain
this yearly occurrence, and as Philadelphians we should all be proud of the Festival's growth.

To some the heart of this yearly festival is the Late Nite Cabaret -
a performance space (and bar) where artists (unable to see work outside of their own)
can see excerpts of other performances running within the Fringe festival.
At the Cabaret artists should feel encouraged enough, that they might
(perhaps) get a bit goofy on the open-stage of the Late Nite Cabaret.
or share an impromptu dance or demonstrate a bizarre theatrical skill,
or sing a song (or two).
At the very least, they can have a drink and see something wildly weird after-hours.

Philadelphia's performance community shares something unique with the world during the cabaret's run.
The fruit of this singular venue is evident to anyone who ever has (or ever will) experience it.
It has been where some have found love, where some have gotten naked, where friendships are formed,
where drag-rockers are shocked. Where anything can happen. In short - fun.

Most importantly: It is where LIVE performance is supported, encouraged and celebrated...
and where beer and wine are affordable.

It is always FREE, and always promises to have dynamic live performance, awesome hosts, dangerous acts,
insane pre-show entertainment, live bands,
and (in the end) hopefully - be an event worth gathering together for.

This year the Cabaret was (officially) cancelled, but that hasn't stopped an all-volunteer group
of locals from keeping the spirit of the Cabaret ALIVE...and in motion.

in fact - this year will be the Cabaret's best year ever -
as the Late Nite Cabaret goes 'mobile' traveling across the city...literally.
