The Hammond Group is back in the studio, this time for pre-production work. I'm not entirely sure what that means, but I think it's Corporate's way of throwing us a bone while adopting a "wait and see" attitude.
Whatever, man. Anyway, we're not in a reputable studio like last time. This is something they threw together in the basement of THG World Headquarters, and it's lacking in more than a few areas. There's no green room, no gift bags, no limo service, and worst of all, the live room doesn't even have baffling (yet - so we've been promised).It wouldn't be so bad if they'd give us a few 30 packs of PBR and a decent sound engineer, but NO!!! They've skimped on both counts in my estimation. Certainly, there's no beer fridge and no beer...
The engineer is a pain in the ass. Start/Stop Start/Stop Go back. Play it again. Stop!! It would be better if he knew what he was doing, but so far, no dice. And he smells. There is no apparent area where he could live or even squat, so I'm guessing he's been given access to a heretofore unknown sub-basement where he keeps his bed and whatever corpses he's accumulated along the way. Oops - I'm just getting bitter now.
Next week's another week, and we might be cranking out something worthwhile soon, so I guess it's all a rosy picture here in The Hammond Group.
