"Poppycock Popcorn with Amazing Glaze coating from Lincoln Snacks, the makers of Poppycock, Fiddle Faddle, and Screaming Yellow Zonkers!"

And that's all I can think about with number 2, unfortunately.

I've always been rather partial to Captain Toeine and the Manifestos, personally.
Or perhaps Charleston Greenup if I'm feeling more post-mod-ren.

you know, the word "poppycock" derives from the dutch "pappe kak" meaning "soft excrement". That would make me laugh as a band name.

Number one sounds like a good name for a prog rock band. Number four is my favorite, though. Would "Mastigophorer" be a good name for a band? I've always thought it's an excellent word.

I think, were I to start a band, those would be some of the names I'd choose from. Very cool ideas.

Natural Born Chiller

Ummmm...since others are making such nice suggestions, I figured I might add a couple...*LOL* How about using the name of an ol' punk band I was a part of in the earlier 80's...Mildew and its Odors. Well, I guess it depends on what genre, huh? Could go punk, could go "new wave". Or how about an old fave that I heard somewhere before along the lines...Mike Hunt's Dishonorable Discharge. Yea, I can imagine it now...lime green reflective lighting glaring down in dissonent pulses along a group dressed in tattered and torn, gray military fatigues partially covered in assorted shades of darkened (hopefully non-flamable) oils. Kind of got a ring to it, huh? *LOL*

Anywhoooo...will be looking sooooooooo forward to seeing you all in my old home town Boston this November 4th!!!  Decemberists rule!!! :)

good names, how about "Johnny and the punk rockers". I always wanted to call a band that, but never had the balls. It would be even better if the band (i.e. Chris Walla) had absolutely no songs whatsoever related to punk rock. I have a friend in Portland who's in a band called Pure Country Gold and their music is anything but country.

How about "Dearest Roger's secretive salad spinner" My English teacher taught me how to use illiteration, you may have noticed ;)
