Superman: Brainiac Attacks is an upcoming direct to video movie from Warner Bros. Animation set to be released June 20, 2006. It will be released on DVD to tie in with the upcoming movie, Superman Returns, which will be shown that same month.
The film features Superman battling the combined forces of Lex Luthor and Brainiac. It will also focus on the relationship between Superman and Lois Lane.
The film itself is based on the Superman animated series that ran in the late 1990s. Series alumni Tim Daly and Dana Delany are reunited to voice the characters of Superman and Lois Lane, respectively. This is the first time that Daly returned to the Superman role. He was not part of the cast of the Justice League animated series as the part of Superman was played by George Newbern. Clancy Brown and Corey Burton, who voiced Lex Luthor and Brainiac respectively in the animated series and in the Justice League Unlimited series are noticeably absent in the cast of the movie. A released image of the DVD jacket lists Powers Boothe and Lance Henriksen instead. [1] It is assumed that Boothe and Henriksen will provide the voices of Brainiac and Luthor respectively.
Synopsis
The description from the back of the DVD jacket says:
