well here we go again another action packed week.

i suppose it was the interview with clint boon that started it all off hed asked me for a few words on perry farrells satellite party single dogstar [which he thought was great] so i went on and lo and behold mentioned the N>O> split so i suppose because it was me sayin it it was out at last. im relieved really hated carryin on as normal with an awful secret so lets move on shall we? played the openin of rios in leeds on friday great crowd and considerin theyd been through 5 local bands already had an amazin resilience/ some kid came up and gave me a hug and said "sorry to hear about new order hooky" i was really touched its like your budgie dyin! great drive back [dont tell the rozzers] 47mins beat that!

up nice and early friday thanks to my daughters friends whod had a sleepover om friday too. im convinced there all tryin to do me in? nice day and then off to belfast the empire was a great venue but it was really quiet me or them? you tell me! but i enjoyed it and from what i could tell so did they. thanks to both promoters for two top nites your too good to me!

MONDAY BROUGHT ME BACK TO PARR ST IN LIVERPOOL for my session with the complete stone roses really sad the way parr street has gone down man there are no studios in the north of england yet weve got all the bands! the hotel owners were clearin out the other rooms throwin loads of stuff away in the skip and me roger and andrea[engineer thanks love ] were takin it all out.! shame! i was in good company as the boys had been giggin and were a bit blurry eyed but it went well sounds good so thanks lads magoo nelly scotty and andy the lambs were as mad as usual!

Im home now gettin ready for brazil so here we go! if anyone sees mani can they ask him if hes done his wish list for his japanese madchester cd? cos i cant get hold of him. come to that does anyone know where andy rourke is? im sure hes in brazil too. am djin at cannes at a beach party before the premiere of control so thatll be interestin everyone ll be pissed and pissin all through the film thatll drive me mad! were all goin team handed so will be a little strange! were in different hotels tho so probably for the best eh?

demo corner/............ from japan OZWANI liked it but thought it needed to hav somethin else to make it more distinctiv ........vocal work ? did sound a bit like a lot of other things.

demo corner/ 2..........BROKEN LITTLE SISTER this was great trippy electronic oasisy really good keep goiun three top tracks 4 in fact! keep me informed could do with a good production but couyldnt we all.

freebass on track met the singing candidate gonna try a couple of traks with him next week fingers crosses. so there you go..one last thing as a parent ive had my heartt broken this week so pray for madeline too please. be careful out there hookyx

Real shame about the split fella, but I'd rather have the memories than see you all turn into the fucking Rolling Stones.

Wish you all well and thanks for the memories.

Now when do we get to hear Freebass?

Just joined your space - nice to see that the ramblings are just as random as all else. I was going to get upset about the split but when I mentioned it to my wife she just said "I thought they already were" and I thought "oh, yeah, so did I" and just kept on doing what I do. I do look forward to freebass doing something wild and wonderful and perhaps even touring Australia (there's a nice little hall across the river from my place, holds about 150 - that'll do me!)

I'll say a little one for Madeline and see what the big fella has to say in return. Look after yourself mate!

JH

I guess for the welfare and peace of mind it's what had to happen. It's not like the music will ever die. Your seriously a part of music history Joy Division and New Order. Now it's time for all of you to make more music history. I have some photos I took back around 1966 or 87 I would have to look at the negatives. Some great pictures of you thumping the bass. This was at Verizon when it was Irvine Meadows. If your ever interested I would be more then happy to get you out some copies. I used to work at Irvine Meadow in Southern California .The hard thing not one of my friends which we all so involved with New Order will kind of not believe me when I tell them, but the future looks bright and shiny.

It's a shame about the issue on Parr At in Liverpool. I have so many great bands asking to be friends out of London area in general so much really really great music. Here we have the opposite effect. Lot's of studios, but an arm and a leg to use them. I really think it's a shame since not matter what the wold needs as much great music as it can get. It's what really links th human race together in so many beneficial ways.

Hope you have fun in Brazil should be nice this time of year. Starting winter. If they can really call it a winter. Have a great time!

I can't wait to see what will come from this and really can't wait to see what you'll be producing more of. Man! so many great bands you've been helping out. Keep up the great work.

Only missed one New Order show out in Coachella. I had my neck operation just a month before the show.

Peace Michael

You are right. Life does go on. It's just hard to believe no new New Order ever, especially when the recent records have been so lush and lovely. BUT, the big but I guess, is that it is better to part ways before you start making shit music.

On the up side, we get to collect solo and other group efforts from you and the other guys.

Wow.

It IS a big deal...

Be well-

One thing I forgot to say. All Joy Division and New Order Lp's EP's and CD's and so on rocked and each song was of shear excellent. When I heard "Waiting For The Sirens' Call" I was latterly in awe and chills with the unbelievable depth and crystal clear quality of the sounds. Every time I listened to it the more sounds I picked up and the nuance's. I have to say very very addictive release. I listened to it and still do constantly. My fiancé and I had the same feeling when listened to. "Jet" oh what a song and "Hey Joe", but all the songs are of the highest production crystal clear quality I have ever hear. You rocked on the mix down. 1000 Kudos. That's why I can't wait to here what's next from you. See I'm saying this cause I was in a down period after a ND neck operation and it really helped me. It really did make me feel better.

I was hoping it were just rumours, but it's really sad to have official confirmation about the split... What about those "almost ready" tracks from WFTSC sessions? I just have to say: You and New Order have made the best music in this planet. I can't realize the last gig being Buenos Aires' so I have faith in seeing the best band in this world working together again someday. Good luck with Freebass, Peter! You are the best!

Can't believe it's 24 years ago tonight that you walked on stage at Birmingham Tower Ballroom and blasted LWTUA out from amidst the plastic palm trees, first time you had played it as New Order, just such an incredible feeling of love in the venue. Shows how much music can move you. New Order may be over, but the memories and good times certainly won't be. Dreams Never will End.

Blooming heck, not again. Hopefully you and Barney just need another break from each other, don't know what the problem is but hopefully one day you'll sort it. Saw the first gig N.O. did in London at Heaven and have seen you more times than I care to admit. Saw the Wembley gig last year and would hate to think that's the last of N.O.. Good luck fella.

like everyone else, I'm gutted about the split, but as long as you swing your bass occasionally, I don't care who you've got singing, wish I could've got to the hard rock gig, any more in the pipe line?

if you ever decide to hang up your bass for good, I'll give you a good price on a shergold and eccleshall, wouldn't mind a clone theory too, I think you've got the worlds supply of 'em.

Good luck with freebass, get that bloody singer sorted.

I guess that sometimes, guys in bands don't realise the influence that they have on peoples everyday lives.

Last year, I drove up to The Manchester Appollo with my son who was born three years after Blue Monday was released (he's 20 now!!!!). For me, it was the umpteenth time that I'd seen New Order but for my son it was his first. We had a real dad/son bonding night and he was amazed at how many songs he knew from me banging 'em out on the car stereo for his entire life! We will both remember that night forever, and for me it was the perfect way to say a personal "Good Night" to the "best fookin rock n roll band in the world" (as that fat guy who introduces you on stage calls you).

Best of luck Hooky and the the rest of New Order should they read this.

Karl Motion. Birmingham.

PS - How is Tony W getting on? It's really good to see N.O. ending on a high, rather than releasing a couple of lacklustre albums - and eventually fizzing out.
We shouldn't be mourning, we should be celebrating one of the most fantastic bands ever to grace British music!

Please just one more gig! I saw you at Wolverhampton recently (last UK gig, this after being at Reading Festival for the previosu last UK gig - I am cursed) and, though it hurts me to say it, you just weren't that good that night (especially when compare to teh Manchester Appollo gigs in previous years). So please, just a final farewell gig in Manchester - finish off with Temptation, leave not a single dry eye and then we can all have closure! Go on - and what a pay day!

Moving on - thanks for all the good times. I can still remember first hearing Ceremony on Peely and thinking "this is it". My first gig in 84 at Hull City Hall, following you around in 87 and the floor collapsing at Finsbury Park, playing a rare Uni gig at Reading during my last week there after me and my mates had got you played at the Union disco four times a night for 3 years, the Reading Festival in 92 (?) and then a come back gig at Manchester Appollo - my first Manchester gig, when I caught Bernard's towel when he threw it into the crowd. Seeing you that night just emoting whilst playing Temptation and Atmosphere.

And then the music - Temptation, BLT, True Faith, Blue Monday, the whole of Brotherhood and Low Life, just wonderful.

Hooky - New Order have meant so much to me, you have truly, truly enriched my life and I would sincerely like to thank you for all that you have given to me. You are one of life's good people - good luck in the future!

So really.... Has New Order officially broken up or are they just taking a break?? What are the chances of getting back together after the release of Control? This is utterly disappointing especially after the elation that was felt by not only myself I'm sure but by the multitude of fans of Joy Division and New Order.

Did members have a falling out or are they just taking a break from New Order to work on their other obligated projects? I pray for the latter.

Although the news of the split is quite devistating I look forward to FreeBass and other side projects of the bandmembers. I wish you well!

Well sorry to hear about the greatest band of all time New Order - butpersonally I wouldn't rule out some kind of reunion. Seen New Order 89 (Manc), 2001 (Manc), 2005 (London Hyde Park), 2006 (Blackpool),Also saw you in Derby 1990 as part of Revenge. You can probaly remeber this as England was playing and the gig was held up whilst we watched the match at the back of the pub, known as the Dial You actually interuppted me and me mates game of olden Axe (remember that classic) to have a 2 player. G8 night Revenge were well underated. Looking forward to my free bass

I look forward to hearing what freebass have to offer. Give David Potts a shout if it doesnt work out with that singer...His solo album was bang on. This is weird reading a blog from the man that as good as forced me to become a bass player (I couldnt listen to Transmission without trying to do it myself) and even more that I'm commenting on it. I wont talk about a new order reunion, just do what you think is right and i'll support what you, barney, steve or gillian do because if its connected to new order...I will give it time, as will alot of people. Take care, see you on the 24th I hope
