new order without peter hook is as much of a total travesty & utterly ridiculous as the jam without paul weller ... but sadly the latter already happened this year ! *sigh*

anyway ... good luck with whatever u do , my favorite bass player of all time ! :-)

cheers ! :-)

This whole thing really breaks my heart. I don't know what happened between the three of you, but I really hope that there is a way for you all to find some common ground and work things out. In the end, you have to do what is best for you and I respect that, no matter how sad and disappointed I am that New Order is no more. I wish you nothing but success and happiness in the future. There can be no New Order without you anyway...you are not replaceable.

i managed to see New Order in Wembley last year. was first row almost in front of you. can't believe was my only chance. the three of you are breaking many people hearts but i'm in a band too and i know how things can get sour. all my respect but this really saddens me. to people like me knowing that the 3 of you were playing together since Joy Division was inspirational and beautiful. i'm so sad it ended up this way. a hug and my eternal love for the amazing music that Joy Division and New Order has done.

Bloke, Much as I love the Old stuff and the contributions and songs written by the others, the only thing left of the spirit of NO nowadays is your beautiful basslines. I think the split is the right thing, and good luck to the rest coz I still love them, but you're in a unique position now. You can collaborate and write without looking back. This is a positive buddy. Good luck (and if you ever need a remix?)
PS I'd love it if you joined Super Furry Animals.

God bless ya Hooky - share the sadness at how things are playing out, but some wonderful memories nonetheless, in fact some to which words cannot do justice; just let me listen to one of yr basslines instead ;D

Look after yrself.

You know this blog post was a really bizarre one (seriously no pun intended). At first I didn't even think that was Peter saying that. I think Mr. Hook likes to "take the piss" as the English seem to say. But in reading that, beneath the drama of it all I just sense Pete giving us a wink while saying all this. I sense so much humor in this I just feel that although the subject matter is harsh and probably speaks the truth, mr. Hook is still being lighthearted by catching us off guard.

But I am upset about the three not working together anymore. Thank god New Order has a catalogue of albums and individual songs so expansive (even despite the 94-01 period) that I am still discovering all the different remixes and rare b-sides. Hopefully Freebass will come into fruition soon.

And guilt really is a useless emotion.

No Hooky means no New Order - simple as that ! First saw you in 1979 at Bournemouth when you blew The Buzzcocks off stage (who I loved and still love too) - I learned to play bass by playing along to Joy Division - I reckon I speak for many that want to thank you and the others for inspiring and entertaining us - and one way or another I think you all still will !
Shame it all came to head this year with the 30th anniversary and the film - but never say never.

Good luck with the US tour Pete!
It's all just a bit upsetting.Someone beat me to it on a previous post with the "marriage" comparison, seeing a fantastic family unravel.
The timing is well off too,the opportunities CONTROL would have reopened,it's such a bloody shame.
Just hoping that one day you all do a SPICE GIRLS and come on back to us...SPICE GIRLS? err hold that thought.
All the best from sunny Salford mate.

and hey, hire me as the female lead singer for freebass!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hehe. come on, damnit! hehehe
i can keep a better tune than barney and pottsy. and i kinda dance like barney but.. im just much better (and can do two things at the same time, usually), and um... well.. depends on how ya look at that. my dance skills are a mix between barney an some crazed, fucked up disco ABBA morphed shit.

ok, back to the pizza again. methinks i'll order a pizza tonight now. i cant stop thinking about pizza after that pizza hut thing. great. see whatya started? grr

Hi John, and everyone posting tonight, and of course to Pete.

John, I have to slightly disagree with you when you mention the timing in relation to Control (Which I can't fucking wait for) and bring everything back into perspective with one small phrase, and please forgive me for saying this but, how very Factory.

Love to all of you

HA! Hiya Dean, yeah I know what you mean,it's the old IF WE'D SIGNED THE SMITHS.. It can't be helped, however my post came across. It's just that when you hear ignoramuses (or ignorami?) purporting to be radio DJs saying uh I though they split up years ago,I was just looking forward to a new ORDER dawning again, when the film comes out. All the buzz seeing praise laden on the lads just a few years ago at the Hall Of Fame.
PS Pete ,wish Warners had released Bizarre Love Triangle (Richard X remix) as an official single, really does it justice.

Alright Hooky.

As much as I love, respect & support you all in whatever any of you do.
My understanding of it all is that if ANYONE left the group, through whatever mean's, that band is finished & effectively a new one created.
So how can we get reports from the new OTHER TWO that they are still NO. Surely that's the main reason JD > NO ?

Hooky good luck in whatever you do in life & hurry up with Freebass !!!

x

Wouldnt presume to tell you what to do, but -c'mon, whatever happens dont start suing each other like a bunch of .....

I remember talking to Rob Gretton about the death of Ian Curtis (days later) and having tried the idea of an alternative singer (x-Crispy Ambulance) for 30 seconds, he decide JD was finished and hence NO was born. Same situation, different day/year, but you are far from dead. No Hooky, no NO. Final.

PS. Rob would have sorted this in 5 minutes, if fact, it would never have got to this.

This is Rob's legacy. 29 years of Bernard gets what he wants at all costs
If Barney and Steve decide to flog the horse into the ground, which of those two is going to talk to the fans? Neither have ever shown an interest.

I'm sure Bernard and Stephen will continue to make some interesting music together, but it won't be New Order without Hooky. That's bleeding obvious. A name change is as appropriate now as it was 27 years ago, albeit for very different reasons.

It sounds like you've been along for the ride for a few years, certainly not minding the fat cheques you guys got by recording all the JD stuff in 98- 05.

I mean, you are musically gifted, but why mess with your fans. at least give us usa fans one last chance to see NO (no boston date for 14 yrs!)

you dj awesomely tho. I'd totally get off seeing you perform, as joy division and new order are 2 of my favorite bands

This thing as saddened me New Order splitting, but it will be nice to still keep those memories of the band, it is a disappointment hon, don't let it worn you out sweetie you came out with it and I know how it is hitting you inside, but Hookster don't be upset about this New Order had been coming and going for years I knew there was problems it after that 1993 concert I went into a dark life I am coming out with this after all these years, but I was missing you a lot and the band, but hey things do happen, but I know in the 90's I haven't forgotten you at all.

Lots of love Margaretxxxxx
