Potter Rocks 2007

Okayy, so on Saturday we took part in Potter Rocks, the UK's biggest ever Wizard Wrock Show!
I say Wizard Wrock but it was, infact, more like Witch Wrock, us girls were performing throughout the evening at Central Library representing the wizarding part of our Nation :)

We had to get up mega early in order to get everything packed up and ready for the day ahead of us. Beaky and Cathy apparead around about 9:00 and we moo-ved the 'quippy and bags of stuff into the two cars we needed to be transported to Birmingham. Unfortunately we don't have our apperation licence yet, so we braved the M6.
We picked up our bezzie Lena on the way. She was dressed as a cat.

The journey took about 3 hours which wasn't too bad but it took us ages to navigate our way round the centre of Birmingham. Everytime we saw a big building we started screaming on the off chance it was the library but none of them were :(
We managed to reach the library and were a bit amazed at how big it was - you could have fitted about 30 Macclesfield Libraries into it. To our delight there was a load of cafe's and places to eat right next to the library, this meant one thing - lunch :)
After lunch we had a wander about the shops and we got lost inside this huge shopping centre. We were pretty paniced actually but we managed to find our way out once we located 'Muffin Break' and the bubble gum machine we had seen on the way in.

After we had been fed and watered and gone shopping we made our way inside, to The Centre of the Child. Here we met up with the rest of the band members and some others that had arrived early.
At this point I need to say;
We are the worst people at socialising ever. We never know what to say and get dead shy and then do something ridiculously stupid and annoying and immature. We nearly broke the partition between the 2 meeting rooms the library had supplied for us, cool eh?, and nearly got locked in but we escaped in the nick of time and asked for the key.
It took us about 2 hours to get speaking to everyone properly but then we were okayy.
Everyone was dead nice and it was great to finally meet you all :)

At 5 O'clock the library staff moved all the book cases to the side of the room and dimmed the lights and put on a Remus Lupins CD.
We had a sneaky groove on the stage.
Hannah, who was doing sound, had got caught in traffic so we were a bit late starting but it didn't matter. Everyone was prepared to wait ;)

The first act was Bella and the Death Eaters. It was a really good opening act, she talkd to the auidence and did a version of DATM 'My Dad is rich' We seemed to be the loudest people singing along which was groovy.

The Black Sisters were on next. They were dead good and had lots of energy. We had 'Harry and Ginny' stuck in our head for the rest of the weekend.

Then RiddleTM had their set. They were amazing, everyone was sat their like 'woah' :) We sang along to 'Look at Me' and 'Ode to Voldemort' thought I think we got a few words wrong but no one noticed so all was well in the world.

Then there was a break and we decided to change our set. We decided to a version of 'And then I died' by the Moaning Myrtles instead of 'The Mirror' coz we kept mucking it up. We aslo went and invaded the merch stall and bought some CDs and Badges. There was a costume competiton and some irish dancing in the break. Awesome stuff.

After the break it was Romilda Vane and the Chocolate Cauldrons.
Amy has such an amazing voice, we loved the live version of 'Frozen'. She also played a song with Georgia from RiddleTM. Yay.

Then it was Miss Metamorphmagus. She was amazing and did so well organising it all. We promised Jessica we would dance during 'I'm a Ravenclaw', so we did. Even though everyone else was sat down. We got them to clap :)

Hahahah I look like i'm the tallest in that picture ^

Then it was us.
We made everyone stand up and dance - it was awesome. We felt the audience should be a bit more active seeing as we were the last band of the evening. We abandoned any shred of talent we may have and went for the 'full on fun' option instead. I jumped off the stage and had a boogie in the crowd during Harry Turtle and Cathy did the same in Whale.
Whale was totally kewl actually, everyone shouted Whale exceedingly loudly.
Bonus points to everyone stood on the back row, who were grooving throughout our whole set! Oh and also to the person that shouted out 'Neville Rocks' :)

The evening was rounded of by a performance of Harry and the Potter's 'Save Ginny Weasley'. Everyone sang along and it went suprisingly well seeing as we were making up who was singing what on the spot :)

We left the library clutching our free torches and the star shaped baloons that had been put up as decoration, full of happiness and Potter-ish love.
The evening was really, really amazing. We really need to have more WRock events in the UK dead soon. We can't wait to meet you all again.

Love

The Knockturn Alley Project

I've said it before, I'll say it again- your preformance of The Ballad Of John Simmon was brilliant. Makes me wish I'd had more money to get your CD too...!

That is so awesome! It seems like tons of fun. I really love how there's a lot more girl wrock bands in the UK because in the states there really seems to be much more male ones than anything else. I know that there were only two female ones at WrockStock--even though I didn't get to go to that. :( But it seems like you all had an awesome time. Hooray for Wizard Rock all around the world!
