Hi everyone!

Happy new year! Thank you for your sincere holiday wishes and the
lovely poster/project some of you sent to me. It is truly special and I
am proud to put it up in my house. I can see how much time and care
went into creating it and that really touches me! It made my holiday
THAT much more special!

Since the new year I've been back on the set of "Dragonball." In
addition to working in Durango, we've been shooting in some pretty
remote yet stunning locations. So, I've been litterally "out of range"
for a few days at a time. We shot in Mexiquillo, about 2 hours outside
of Durango where the landscape is amazing and looks - in places - much
like the forests of New England. The dense green trees reminded me of
New Hampshire and Maine, and made me feel very at home. The sunrises and sunsets are really spectacularly beautiful..
Mexiquillo is pretty remote, and there weren't any hotels around, so we
were actually "camping" in log cabins, all together. It was exactly
what you'd imagine, campfires at night with smores and kumbaya... Okay,
maybe not kumbaya, but we did do the smores! Its been a LOT of fun,
especially bonding with the cast. All the actors get along great! After only a few weeks shooting we already have inside jokes and pretty
much know each others life-stories.
I've been listening to some harder music to access the edge inside
me to bring to the character, some Lincoln Park and Dream Theater.
I'm enjoying developing the character and training, learning to ride a
motorcycle has been thrilling.. Its manual, so I've been learning all about clutch and throttle (don't laugh, this is all new to me!) And I think I'll be able to drive a stick-shift car after this film too!

Right now I am writing from a helicopter (with my costars, Chow Yun
Fat, his lovely wife and Joon Park). We are on our way to the desert
where we will be filming for the the next few days. I am the lucky one
who gets to sit up front with the pilot (who was very careful to
instruct me not to touch anything; knobs, controls or otherwise) Chow
and Joon are taking pictures in the back and we are having a lot of
fun. The landscape is alternating between, rolling sand dunes, green
mountains dotted with cactus and farms layed out in geometric order
with terracotta colored earth. I want you all to see what I see, so I'll
upload some pics later when I can connect my camera to my laptop.
Also, I'm attaching a picture from the cockpit right now!

On another note, l want to say how deeply saddened I am by Heath
Ledger's sudden passing. I did not know him very well, but well enough to see
he was a kind man, a devoted father and an immense talent. My heart
goes out to his family and his young daughter in this time of grief. He
will be so missed.

Love,
Emmy

Oh my god! I Know I found out about it in my Witchcraft and Paganism class and I almost burst into tears. I loved that man's acting. Yesterday it was so weird. I started listening to Frankie Valley's You Just Too Good to be true and I thought of him. It was later that night when I found out he had died!

Anyways... KUDOS to you for doing this film. My friend and I are into martial arts so I know a little about it. I will be so glad when this movie comes out! I will be there front row seat, well... maybe not front row, but you get the picture!!

Your fan,
Victoria

Hi emmy first I have to say I am huge fan. Also are you learning spanish ? I heard durango has pretty landscape. You are so cool that you are able to write from a helicopter and hangout with Chow Yun Fat he is a great actor. I can't wait to see your pictures. You are right it sad to hear about Heath Ledger he was young and talent actor. It must be hard for the family more for his daughter. Well I wish you luck filming and i cant wait to see it? Have fun, oh this is going to sound childish coming from a 23 year old female but my friends do not believe me that you actually write on your myspace they want to me to believe that it is someone from you staff but I am not going to change my mind because I beleive it is you who writes and updates your page. Again have fun filming!!!

Stick shifts are SO much fun to drive! My parents bought one when I was two months old (a honda accord), and it's still running today. Learning to drive a stick shift was a lot of fun, and now I am having a hard time adjusting to an automatic.

For some reason your blog reminds me of the song "Fernando" by ABBA. Hmmmm...
This also reminds me, you should learn to play the guitar!!

End random. Have fun filming!

Wow! Sounds like you're having a blast! Learning how to run a motorcycle, riding in helicopters... you must be having a ball! Aprende usted a decir el español? That's pretty sweet if you are! I've been speaking it for 3 years. (though I'm not too good when I have to write the words gramatically lol) I love the pics you posted. The view looks beautiful. I've been in a helicopter and airplane before, but the pictures kind of make me afraid of heights. (even though I'm getting better with heights, I still get freaked out if I look straight down from a high building or point) I went to Cancun last year (to perform) with my school's chior, and I loved it. (plus, my spanish really came in handy!)
SMORES ROCK! (though I try not to eat a lot of junk food) I love campfires. There's just something so welcoming and warming about it. It's nice to just sit back, relax, and chat about everything and anything that's happened in the past few days, or months, since you last saw the people you're with.

I cried when I found out Heath Ledger died! He was an amazing actor. My he RIP and my heart goes out to his family, friends, and everyone that knew him.

xoxo

Oh! And wanted to add that I can't wait to see Dragonball! It sounds like an interesting movie (I know it's an anime, but I know nothing about it), and sounds like you're learning a lot of cool things on the set. Thanks for updating your blog! Hope your new year is going great so far! =]

xoxo

P.S. Still loving the CD. I listen to it every morning on my way to school. =D

Hey, thanks for the update. I'm glad that you're enjoying this experience so much. I look foreward to seeing more pictures, it sounds gorgeous. You're lucky to have a job that allows you to travel so much and learn new skills that you might not otherwise have sought out.

I was also saddened to hear of Heath Ledger's death. It's always tragic when someone that young dies. Obviously he leaves a legacy in his strong work (Brokeback Mountain featured a particulary moving performance IMO) but we'll never know what he was capable of doing in the future. My heart goes out to his family.

Hey Emmy, thank you much for the updates! :-) Sounds like you're having a lot of fun on the set...once I start making my movies, hopefully I'll have an excuse to shoot out in the desert and witness the beautiful landscape myself! :-P

Best of luck to you on the new film. Your career is soaring higher than that copter you're in so keep up the great work!
:-)

On another note...we constructed a little memorial to Mr. Ledger at my work...yes, I know, The Order isn't a very good film...but it's Heath nonetheless and the world will never have another like him.

RIP Mr. Ledger

Hi Emmy,

I'm so glad you liked the holiday project! I was one of the huge amount of people who participated, so I'm thrilled you liked it.

Sounds like quite the adventure shooting "Dragonball". Experiencing the wild life! By your description, the scenary seems absoulutely breathtaking. Quite the educational journey aswell. Learning to ride a motorcykle...riding a helicopter, really cool!
Can't wait to see the pictures, I'll check them out asap!

I was very chocked when I heard he had deceased. Great talent.
RIP Heath

Take care Emmy and good luck with the continuing of filming the movie,

I've been to Durango..I was young but it was gorgeous. If you get anytime to just take a look around may I suggest whitewater rafting or a horseback ride? They're probably out of season but its just a suggestion.

And that is a beautiful tribute to Heath Ledger, if I may add.
