Last week was honestly one of the most fun weeks of my life. I feel like everything I wished for in 1985 came true. 1) I had my own movie theater where I got to show whatever I wanted, which is all I've ever dreamed of, and I got to see films like "Pieces" and "Mother's Day" on the big screen. 2) Tuesday night I went with Gabe and Chris Jericho and a bunch of friends to see Iron Maiden at the Forum in L.A. and afterwards Jericho got us backstage passes. I honestly cannot even describe how fucking unbelievable the show was, but Scott Ian from Anthrax did a nice job writing about it on his blog. After the show I found myself in one room with Scott Ian from Anthrax, Kerry King from Slayer, Lars fucking Ullrich, Yannick Gers, and Steve Harris. Kerry King's a huge horror fan and Lars is a "Hostel" fan. Kerry and his wife were so complimentary about "Hostel II," and I promised him he could kill someone in a movie in the future. I gotta write something juicy for him. I was so fucking psyched to be in this room with the founding fathers of metal. Everyone was there to pay homage to the great Steve Harris and Iron Maiden, it was pretty amazing.

Yannick loved
the shirt! He's a huge Ingmar Bergman fan, and wrote "Dance of Death" after watching "The Seventh Seal."

Wednesday night we had a great time with Charles Kaufman and "Mother's Day," (see previous blog) and then Friday night we screened "Carrie" and had a great Q&A with William Katt and P.J. Soles. They told all kinds of cool stories about the shoot, and how when they went to audition they auditioned for both "Star Wars" and "Carrie" at the same time! DePalma and Lucas are friends and they were both seeing every actor in town for their films, so they had a table together and when you went in to read, you read for both of them. They also talked about how "Carrie" was THE set for directors to visit because so many of the scenes had lots of teenage girls. I thought that was pretty funny, these directors coming down to do a "set visit" to poach. The Q&A was great, and they generously took photos and signed autographs after. Special thanks to Sean Clark for hooking that up!

Saturday night was the dream screening I've had in my head since 1982: ZAPPED! with Scott Baio in attendance. The movie absolutely brought the house down - the crowd loved it, and I had the most fun time doing a Q&A with Scott that went nearly half an hour! Stacy at
seriouslyomg.com was kind enough to film it and post it, and it's also on youtube. Scott told so many great stories, and I finally got to ask him questions I've been dying to ask my whole life. He was so cool and we had a really great time. He pressed me on why I hadn't cast him in a movie yet, and I told him that I wanted to write something great for him and not just put him in the movie as stunt casting. He said that was fair, but he's gonna hold me to it in the future. It would be an honor. Although I think I freaked him out a bit with my uber-knowledge of "Charles in Charge."

This weekend we have a double bill of Bachelor Party and Caddyshack on Friday night, and then Saturday night we're going to show Bachelor Party and then a special ENCORE PRESENTATION OF "PIECES!" This movie has to be seen to be believed - it's simply the most ridiculous and awesome horror movie ever made, and this print is the only way you can see the uncut version. All VHS and DVD versions of this film are heavily edited - this is an uncut pristine print courtesy of Bob Murowski, Sage Stallone, and Dave Szulkin of Grindhouse Releasing. This is the most fun you're gonna have at a horror movie - it's so good it cannot be overhyped enough. One showing only: 9:20 on Saturday night.

And to cap off the best week ever, I was having drinks with a friend at the Beverly Hills Hotel the other night, and Lindsay Lohan walked by our booth with a girlfriend, checking us out. She then went out to the bathroom, turned around, came back and walked by us again, and mumbled to her friend "too old," and kept walking. Now - she's absolutely correct - but it was still pretty fucking hilarious. Especially since we were in the Polo Lounge at the Beverly Hills Hotel - where the average age is 97. If you look too old in there you're fucked! Time to hit the Botox!
P.S. Now I'm in bed with bronchitis from not getting enough sleep last week. Maybe Lindsay's right!
