As
Calamity Magnet gear up for our Summer U.S. tour, I wanted to let you know about a decision I've made. After three years in the group, I have decided to leave
The Rentals to be able to dedicate all of my time to my new band, Calamity Magnet.
I am so thankful Matt asked me to move to Los Angeles from Texas to help him start the group back up again, and I leave The Rentals with amazing memories and the experience of having worked with some of the best musicians I know. I wish each any every one of them all of the success in the world. While it makes me sad to leave that experience behind, I have realized that what makes me happiest is being a songwriter, and that's where my focus should be returning to at this point in my life.So many of you have been so supportive and welcoming of Calamity Magnet, and by golly, that means the world to me! I really hope to see some of you on our upcoming Summer tour.A couple of years ago, Matt asked me to arrange an a capella version of The Rentals' "Getting By" from a female perspective. He was toying around with the idea of performing it live that way. While we ultimately decided to go with the rocked up album version at our shows, I thought it might be nice to let you guys and gals hear what I came up with. (It's a little out of tune, but it's a demo so I think that's allowed. :) ) I have temporarily posted it to my solo MySpace music page as a tribute and goodbye to my time in the band. I hope you enjoy it!So now what? Well, Calamity Magnet have a new EP out (available through our MySpace page), a Summer tour starting in a couple of weeks, and plans to begin our first full-length record when we return. We also just shot a video for "Movin' On" and will be posting that in the next couple of weeks. And now, as a fan, I await the new Rentals record. I have a feeling it's going to be a good one.xoxo,Sara RadleCalamity Magnet
