Hello Freedomphiles!  So, the Federal Censorship Committee is at it again, this time going after Fox for it’s show Married in America.  eFluxMedia reports:

Fox Broadcasting announced Monday it would not pay the $91,000 fine it received for broadcasting an episode of reality show "Married in America" which included graphic scenes at a bachelor party.

A statement issued Monday by Fox Broadcasting contests the Federal Communications Commission’s fairness in fining the network fines totaling $91,000 for broadcasting a certain "Married in America" episode that included graphic scenes which depict sexual organs.

Fox is also asking the F. C. C. to reconsider the fines on the 13 owned and affiliated stations that broadcast the "Married by America" episode, the New York Times reports.

"Fox believes that the F. C. C.’s decision in this case was arbitrary and capricious, inconsistent with precedent and patently unconstitutional," Scott Grogin, the company’s senior vice president for corporate communications, said in a statement.

"Married in America" no longer runs on Fox. During the episode in question, the possibly offensive body parts shown were pixilated; Fox has previously said it "strongly disagrees with the commission’s conclusions in the notice" and that it would "be actively considering" its options.

Pixellated?!?  Think of this from the right perspective.  FOX is being fined by the government because they didn’t censor themselves enough.  What happened to the part of the Constitution that says, "Congress shall make no law...abridging the freedom of speech?"

They shouldn’t have had to pixellate it at all.  But even with that self-censorship, what did the FCC say about FOX’s efforts?

Last month, the F. C. C. commented: "While it is true that the nude female breasts and buttocks shown were pixilated, the commission has never held that the full exposure of sexual or excretory organs is required to satisfy the first prong of the broadcast indecency standard."

You’ve got to be kidding me.  So, does this mean they will go after channels that show a woman in a bikini next?  The entire existence of the censoring arm of the FCC is an affront to the Constitution and the principles of liberty and free expression.

I wrote previously about the FCC here and here.  And check out what these heroes have to say about being offended in America:

It's a very sad testament to the waning power of the Constitution when it is the last, almost superfluous, line of defense and not the first and most important. Who cares about precedent and consistency? If it's unconstitutional, that's it, period. Would it be better if the FCC were consistently in violation of the Constitution? No, of course not, so drop that argument and get straight to the point!

Meanwhile, it continues to confound me that that Fox Broadcasting continues to be this liberal, rebellious institution amongst the mainstream, conservative media conglomerate. Are they just supporting this token progressive entertainment outlet in order to dampen demand for a true, independent channel which might broadcast something more dangerous than pixelated titties?

BTW, Penn & Teller rock! I bought my brother the entire multi-season DVD set of Bullshit! for Solstice.

Also appreciate Penn & Teller (president and v.p.?), and as required F.U., Frank.
