here's some shit people wrote about my set at the Rickshaw Stop, Monday night for the faint afterparty.....

(here's the part about me...)

"....and then him and his missus badgered me into going to an after-shindig at ze Rickshaw Stop for the Glass Candy/The Faint show at the Fillmore.

At first I was extremely reticent, being the grouchy bollocks that I can so often be, but then relented and what a good choice that was. We arrived in the door of the place as the dj, a young lady named Corinne, was playing Crystal Waters' "100% Pure Love," no not "Gypsy Woman," this one was a later club smash also on a decidedly NY garage tip. Was Corinne being ironic, was it a case of burgeoning '90s revivalist notions beginning to well up among the young team, or maybe she just liked the song? We'll never know, but I'm a bit partial to early '90s NY garage myself so it was nice to hear some skippy beats and slicing hi hats as you enter a party with promise.

A good turnout on a Monday, thanks to the sterling efforts of DJ Omar and Aaron Axelsen, who were presiding over the event. Omar took the decks next and laid down a schmoove mix of Italo, disco and acidy house music; the perfect accompaniment to Glass Candy's Italo elettro nuanced playlist...." an on....

"On Monday night I took a stroll over to the Rickshaw Stop in San Francisco for the after party that followed the Glass Candy/Faint show at the Fillmore. DJ Omar and Aaron Axelsen threw the do and it was a pretty good time by all accounts. A young dj named Corrine was throwing down some jams when myself and my friends walked in, in fact the Crystal Waters song "100% Pure Love," was playing and that's not what I was expecting...."

um... omg... how crazy. i barely knew anyone was even listening to me play... lol... i guess 100% pure love made an impression. haha. holy shit.

i was a little more proud of dropping funky nassau in the middle of all that house music, but people probably dont recognize that shit. haha. fuckn a. how scary.

"oh my fuck. theres a room full of dancing people, i better not fuck this up" pretty much sums up the night for me. it was fucking awesome. THANKS TO OMAR for letting me wreak my havoc on the decks.

as for crystal waters, that first blogger pretty much got it right. i was being a little ironic... which is you know, like, so out of character for me... and also "a case of burgeoning '90s revivalist notions beginning to well up" for real.... a direct hit. you go blogger. you go.

i promise, i dropped some bro haus that fists you so far up your ass you would forget you ever got nasty with crystal waters, and some funkfunkfunky funked up shit. im glad i brought a lot of music because what turned into 2 hours up there was supposed to be a set of like 30-45 minutes of music when the place opened, before anybody gets there. so i kept bringing the level up thinking it was near the end of my set... and omar would come up and say, keep going, youre doing great. fucking sweetest person, im telling you. so i was like, aaah, ok, here we go. thank god i like a lot of upbeat house music.
